Hidden secret in Palma de Mallorca I am glad I managed to book a room in the Hostal Bonany, for a little more money I could have better comfort than in the heart of the expensive city centre. The hostal is 2km away from the cathedral and can be easily be reached with a 30 minute walk, the bus from the city centre takes about 10 minutes and costs 2€ and the taxi fare at night was about 6€. If you are reaching the hostal from the airport, I suggest you to buy a prepaid travel card (5€ one way and 8€ return) from the machines at the airport, as includes 1 bus change, tickets bought on the bus do not include any change. I arrived after reception was closed, the room key was placed in a small locker just outside the main door, check-in procedure was easily done and paid on the next day. I was given room H25 with small balcony overlooking the pool and with recently installed air conditioning, which was great to sleep. The room was basic, very cleaned and the bathroom quite spacious and well equipped. The bed was provided as requested and it was very comfortable, I did not experience any noise. I decided to take the breakfast option for 5€, the price is really unbeatable, and I did not regret. The breakfast was quite nice with good and tasty food quality, 3 types of good breads, good lactose free ham, chorizo and cheese, good juices, and jams. Boiled eggs were also available. I did not try the milk. Good proper espresso coffee was also included in the 5€ price. There are many restaurants near the hostel, but none is really appealing, though you can buy ready meals in the nearest supermarket and eat at the hostel, plates, cutlery, glasses and a microwave oven are available for guests 24/7. Bread and croissants left overs from the breakfast are usually left for free, so you might be lucky to get some late in the afternoon.

Continues from like: The pool was not very exposed to the sun, but the water was incredibly warm, at least 28°C, quite nice by the end of the day after cultural visit in the city centre. The staff was very friendly and professional, special thanks to the Bolivian lad. I strongly recommend this place to anyone, you will not regret staying here despite some reviews about the noise from the nearest school. Classes start at 09:00 in the morning, this is about the time people should be woken up, so some common sense... Everything was great

The hostal was very flexible with allowing us to use the breakfast bar to make our own breakfast. There were no tea making facilities in the room so it was a short walk down to the breakfast area in the morning. There was a fridge in the room which was helpful and everything we needed was in the room. The shower was also good. The bed was a memory foam and was comfortable.

The room was quite small. I know we booked a budget room but it was quite a squeeze for two adults. The window had a frosted pane in front of it so that people could not see into the room and also we could leave the window open and it was safe as no one could enter the room, however it did block the view out the window and made the room feel smaller.

The staff, the cleanliness, the fact that there is luggage room where you can leave your stuff after the check-out, the fact that you can take a shower after the check-out in a separate bathroom if you have a late flight. The bus stops to the city centre and some beaches are close. It was quiet at night.

There is no air-condition. I knew that when I was booking so I don't want to complain now, but again, I must mention that for the heat in Palma, an air-condition is simply a must.

Clean, pleasant hotel in lovely neighbourhood. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Room was a good size and it was nice to have the balcony. Great location, right on the edge of trendy Santa Catalina neighbourhood with lots of great bars and restaurants but hotel itself is on a nice quiet, residential street, also plenty of cafes and restaurants close to the hotel as well as supermarket. Easy enough to walk into Palma old-town but bus is nearby if preferred.

My only complaint would be the temperature in the room. The room had an old radiator, that when it was on made the room suffocatingly hot and it didn't seem like it could be turned off from in the room. Also, no door on bathroom but wasn't an issue for me as it was a solo trip. But might be worth baring in mind for others.

Another localization I choose for my needs. Away from city center but close to nice little restaurants i big super market. And we love walking so we discovered places which are not touristic atractions on the way to center.

refrigerator was very noisy, my partner thought that it was diesel truck outside on the street :) But we were so exhausted after sightseeing Paloma that we still could sleep. City buses don't accept any cards. You must have a change, below 5 Euros. That's a reason we were not allowed to embark bus going straight to to the train stations. Where we had booked tickets to Soller :)

The room was not huge, but did have a balcony. The bed was comfy, it was clean and was cleaned daily to a good standard, and the water in the shower was hot. There was a reasonably sized safe - big enough for a laptop. The breakfast, at 5 euros was a steal! Buffet style - cereal, bread, meats (chorizo, ham), cheese, eggs, tomatoes, fruit, toast, jam, fruit juice and coffee/tea all included. No variety from day to day - but at the price I'm not quibbling! Needed to be there early to get the nicest bread! The location was good in a fairly quiet side street about five minutes walk from bus stops into central Palma and close to a street with plenty of eating options - we recommend Can Juanito for authentic Spanish food. My wife enjoyed the pool too. there was ok on-street parking for our hire car. The staff were always helpful and friendly.

The TV in the room was very small and only had very limited channels. It would have been nice to have a kettle in the room (though there was one available in the reception area).

Everything was great: room was large, bed comfy, very clean, had a fridge which was good to keep bottles of water cool. Aircon, ceiling fan and radiator - which we used as it wasn't overly warm on the first day. Nice balcony, quiet residential area that's close to Santa Catalina and all its bars and restaurants. Also close to Bellver castle, which is amazing and a short bus ride to the Joan Miro museum in Cala Major, which is also fantastic. Breakfast was superb: great coffee and good selection of cold meats, cheeses, had a toaster and sandwich maker, cereals, fruit . . . all for 5 euros, so excellent value for money. All the staff & cleaning team were friendly and very helpful - when checking out one of the team came running down with our phone charger which we'd left behind in the room! Very thoughtful and much appreciated. We thoroughly enjoyed staying here.

Nothing bad to report.

the room was small, but perfectly adequate. we had a quaint balcony, bathroom was a little small but again adequate. staff were super friendly. facilities were just fine. price for tea was exceptional (1 euro). we were a little out of town but staff said it was about 20mins and this was about right. there were a few restaurants and bars close by so it didn't matter being out of town. also the buses were frequent and again a good price, only 2 euros from town. It took us a while to find the way to the harbour, by walking , but that was our fault. nice little pool, sadly too cold to try for me!

nothing would return happily

The room was a good size, the pool area was clean and in the sun from early morning, the check in process was easy, especially given we were delayed until almost 4am. Instructions for the key and the access was easy to follow. Plenty of nearby bus routes into the centre of Palma too, but also close to plenty of bars, restaurants and attractions.

The rooms are a bit basic, but it is not the hotel you would want to stay in the rooms as the rest of the property is very nice or you will be out exploring the city.

The place was charming, located in a very nice area. When the weather is good, you can enjoy a cup of coffee in the backyard by the pool. The staff was friendly and helpful.

The only thing that was kind of weird was that the window was blurred and blocked, even though this was understandable to some extent as the room was on the ground floor. In terms of location, it’s easy to get there by bus but walking distance to city centre is about 30-40 minutes. Sightseeing buses stop close but we waited for more than 30 minutes (once even more than an hour) to get on one.
