We are from germany and stayed our first 3 nights in Sri lanka in avani bentota. The Sri Lanka Trip is our honeymoon. We arrived at 5 o clock in the Night. The Hotel offerred a early Check in and a room Upgrade for free. We had a huge and clean room. All the people are very friendly. The service is amazing. The Hotel and the Garden is very clean. The Hotel has 2 big Pools and very convertable sun beds. You can can easy walk outside for restaurants, shops, Supermarktes and Bank. We take euro and change it at the Ceylon bank without fees and for a good Rate. You also can change Money in the Hotel if you like. The breakfast was great, also the cocktails on the bar. We also watched the other Hotels in the Area, but the avani looks the best and has the best Beach Part.

Ambience, architecture, rooms, views, pool, beach, and staff were all superb. Breakfast was also good. Rooms, beds, and toilets were all comfortable. All staff, including the ones at reception, were very hospitable. Lahiru also arranged Indian Roti, Paratha, and Naan on our request for the Dinner and Breakfast.Very thankful for him.Chamara and Chamila room cleaning staff put all efforts to clean the room to our satisfaction.

Cleanliness was an issue in the property. Doors, window glass, and shower stall glass were not clean. Though Staff cleaned all them on pointation. The reception area needs to be updated on 5- star standards. The gym needs to be updated as well. So many aunts are there in the rooms as well as in the restaurant. Needs to seriously fumigate the whole property from insects, especially Aunts.

My room had a jacozi and coffee machine. Staff were responsive and caring especially Jayantha, he gave us free open buffet dinner after we declined the comlimentary wine bottle as we dont drink alcohol. Also, he gave us breakfast boxes when we checked out 5am before breakfast serving. My wife enjoyed he massage session very much. She had a whole body treatmnt with facial massage in the spa

There was no male staff in the spa, I prefer a man for massage sessions There was maintenance work close by at night (dont know where), the noises interupted my sleep at night.

The highlight of the entire stay was HIRAN their Service Manager. What an amazing guy he is! We forgot our wallet in the safe and realized about it after reaching back to Colombo (2.5 hours away). He located it and then made sure we receive it the next day in Colombo through one of his trusted colleagues. What an absolute gem and thank God people like him exist in the world to make it feel like a better place. There were two pools, both were clean and relaxing, a highlight of the stay. Good location as many restaurants and the market place in walking distance. Breakfast offered a good variety of food, including mix of English, local and Indian dishes. The room was spacious and had many facilities including a coffee maker with complimentary pods. The resort had useful facilities like a spa, gym, and nice gardens. The complimentary 15 mins massage that was included in our package was DIVINE! Staff were friendly, welcoming, and ready to help from check-in. Thaala Resort is recommended for a comfortable and enjoyable getaway.

Room service food could be better. Housekeeping can do a better job regarding the ants termination.

Perfectly harmonious design embedded in a beautiful landscape just like other design hotels by Bawa. Amazing for families. Great service overall. From reception, Bell boy , housekeeping, restaurant, everything was to our satisfaction. complements to the staff. and thanks for making our stay memorable. Food options were really great as well. special thanks to Thashmi , Saman ,Ttharanga, the ones from restaurants!!! Our whole family enjoyed the stay and we can only recommend this gorgeous place!!!

great value for money and no complaints

Location. On a lovely surf beach. Public beach so you can see local families enjoying a day out but no hassle. Not crowded at all. Next to railway station for trip to Galle. Good local restaurants short walk away.. Easy to walk to river to do a cruise or take a Tuk Tuk to Lunuganga or elsewhere. I am also very thankfull for an early check in as I arrived at 4.30am.

Frangipani restaurant was closed. I think it needed an al a carte restaurant. Just main buffet restaurant and pool bar/ cafe. Also I thought I had arranged a transfer from the airport as my flight arrived at 2am but no one there to meet me. Maybe a communication problem between the hotel and Booking.com.

Our twin room request via booking.com did not go through, but the hotel arranged for a twin room for us within no time. Unfortunately, it was old, smelled damp and was not very clean. We asked for a different room the next day and got a beautiful alternative room and also a free dinner as compensation. The new room was world's away from our first room. One restaurant and bar were still closed, so food options during the day were limited to the pool bar/restaurant

Great place to stay with family. We had a wonderful time (5 of us and parents) Food was delicious and staff was very friendly. Mr. Ruchira was very helpful during our stay and gave us ideas and suggestions for us to explore during our stay. Restaurent staff was always attending all our needs and helping us all the time. We booked an Ocean Facing Deluxe Room for us and Deluxe Double room for my parents. The rooms are very specious and have a good sitting area. need arrangements are very good and there is TV for entertainment and good internet speed. The pools were very nice (4 feet) kids had a great time. Room service was great. Too sad we only booked for 2 nights. Definitely will visit again. Highly recommend for families with kids

Bathroom shower cubical had bit of odour from the water drain hole. But it was manageable.

Nice location, very friendly staff

1. Restaurant takes too much time in preparing food and they should increase staff in kitchen. Our order came aftet 1 hour and that too food quality was not good. We were not happy at all. We requested them to let their F&B manager talk to us but they never talked to us. Very unprofessional. 2. In pool table they do not have chalk fpr cue stick and when i asked them they said they dont have , they said they provide pool table for free so they will not give chalk, so i asked how would we play then and they dont have an answer. This is not expected from a 5 start hotel like Avani.

what is there not to like! the location is stunning, hotel and rooms are attractive, modern and spacious and very comfortable! the staff here are above anything we have experienced anywhere else in the world. they are attentive, kind, friendly and make you feel like family and they enjoy the fact you are here. my partner was planning to propose and discussed with the hotel to book a private beach dining experience (stunning!). staff not only facilitated this but made everything so special and even upgraded our room to their luxury bawa suite, an experience we will be forever grateful for!

everything was perfect. just wish it wasn’t so far so we could come back sooner!
