The proximity of the hotel to the rail station meant the walk up hill was manageable pushing our suitcase as we went. Lausanne is hilly, with some steep climbs, negotiating a large suitcase much further would not be ideal. The hotel is close to the Metro network also which was extremely useful for getting around, and free for visitors using the hotels in the town. Hotel Elite was a little gem for our three night stay, the staff were very helpful and friendly, the hotel was very clean and the continental breakfast was very good. For a short break this hotel is ideal.

The uphill climbs ! these can be hard work, our advice is use the metro and go to a stop further then walk down.

I know the hotel from previous visits. The location of the hotel in the very centre of Lausanne is an advantage. It can be reached on foot from the central railway station, but the short way leads through a steep street. There are private parking spaces available in front of the hotel at the costs of 19CHF for 24 hours. The general impression of the hotel is that of old fashioned Swiss hospitality of the 1980ies. The rooms are of good size and are comfortably equipped. All is spotless clean. WiFi worked perfectly. A continental breakfast is included in the room rate. The staff is extremely helpful and polite.

The bathroom is very clean, but the sandy yellow and greenish tiling with a bathtub makes it look as reminiscent of past times. Missing is a kettle for coffee/tea.

Outstanding location, opp the main train station and next to the Metro. We were given a triple room, so it had adequate space for storage and to move around. The breakfast was average.

Whilst it may not be applicable to the youth, although we were healthy Seniors, its tough getting to Elite if you've come by public transport. The cobblestone road opp the train station to Elite is 75-80 metres steep uphill and to wheel a suitcase over these stones, it was tough. If you're not fit, then going up and down this slope every time you have to step out, could be a disaster. The alternative is stairs with 65 stone steps! The breakfast wasn't up to the mark and could do with improvement overall.

I appreciate the kind and warm stuff of the hotel. Always smiling and being supportive. Also the location of the hotel is great, very close to the main train station while still providing a quiet place to stay. I liked the bathtub as well. So relaxing after a long day. And it is great that the room had a regular table for working, which I used a lot during my business trip.

I am not a big fan of rooms with a limited amount of the daily light. Also, the hair dryer is a bit too old, but still functional though. And be careful, do not get tricked that it takes only 4 minutes from the main station. There is some exercising needed to get there (climbing a pretty steep hill).

The Hotel Elite is an old-time charmer. And yet, it's entirely modern and up-to-date. Our room was very large and comfortable. Very close to beautiful parks and many fine restaurants. A bit of a walk to the lake, but not too bad. The staff was exceptional. We were hiking the Via Francigena and the day we left we had an extremely long way to go; the staff arranged for our backpacks to be forwarded to our next destination. It might not sound like much, but it was not easy to get it set up. Be sure to go to the Olympic Headquarters while you're in Laussane. It is exceptional! Also, a boat ride to Evian is very enjoyable.

The room (4th floor) was comfy and spacious, with a wonderful balcony giving us a fantastic view over the buildings to the lake and mountains. Fridge for use was a bonus. Staff were helpful and efficient. The location is great, a few moments from the station and metro. We didn't have the breakfast option - similar Lausanne prices to anywhere else but there are cafes, bakeries and food stores really close by which suited us better. Parking available on site is useful although the park and ride at nearby Ouchy is less than half the price - we had too much luggage and were feeling very lazy so it was convenient to park directly outside for our short stay. Would definitely book again.

The room was huge for european standards. It had an ample bathroom, comfy bedroom, and a separate lovely living room with a couch and a total of two desks to work from. Fast and reliable WiFi that was great for videocalls. The view is lovely in pretty much any direction because the neighborhood (and city) is lovely, but I overlooked a parking lot that was stunning in the sun. The location is good, you are very close to the main train station in the city with amazing connectivity as per usual in Switzerland. There are chain cafes and restaurants nearby, as well as some gourmet options. I didn't go around much, but did manage to see some of the main sights and I think this is overall a well positioned hotel to explore Lausanne.

A very minor detail is that there was some noisy maintenance work by staff in the mornings (think 10am-11am) which was disruptive to my sleep that day. Would have loved a notice at check-in time about this. Perhaps the only problem is that the walk to some part of the city is quite steep and a climb that you need to factor into your tourism time and energy, if you're there to explore.

The room was comfortable with a nice view of Lake Geneva. It is very close to the train station but one has to climb 50 or 60 stairs to get from train station to the hotel. Although it is a lovely hotel, the Elite sign in front of the hotel makes it appear like a budget hotel which it is not. We paid $278 CHF for one night, one of the pricier places we stayed. The beds were comfortable, room temperature was fine. Elevator is small but I was able to use it to get to our 4th or 5th floor room- I have mobility issues and needed elevator. Breakfast was great. the shades were awesome and one can make the room very dark so the sun doesnt wake you up at 5 am. Staff allowed us to check our luggage so that we could tour the city a bit before departing the area.

Room was on the small side but fine for one night.

The staff were friendly and accommodating. There was parking and a small elevator. The room was comfortable but we were not able to lower the temperature in the room. So I opened the windows a bit to bring in some cooler air. The only problem is that the area is a bit noisy at night. We managed to sleep well despite this though.

We did not have a hot pot for morning coffee or tea. The room amenities were very basic. Location-wise, for our group of seniors, managing the steep pedestrian road heading to Place St. Francois was a challenge.

Comfortable corner room, with a useful safe and a small fridge, plus wine glasses provided. Traditional but attractive decor. The street was nice and quiet at night. Handy location for those arriving by train, without being too close to the station. The receptionist was helpful in finding us a plug adapter when we discovered that all the sockets were the Swiss 3 pin and none took the regular European type.

One of the pillows might have been firmer, but it was good to get two each rather than just one. Having hot drinks available in the afternoon was welcome, but 4 francs for hot water and a tea bag for residents is a bit steep.
