Location: near a train station; A few minutes walk from the city center. We received a ticket for free travel on public transport in the entire Ticino region. A rich breakfast. It is possible to purchase additional meals as well, a menu appears clearly in advance, at the beginning of each day. The staff at the hotel provides an answer to any question about transportation and itineraries.

Loved the location - near train station and a Beautiful cathedral. Staff very friendly( spoke English Italian, French and German)and hotel had an excellent buffet breakfast for approx 17 Swiss francs We felt very safe in Lugano - there are three studio apartments with kitchen, stove, frig, cutlery - they are in the hotel’s 2nd building and are a wonderful option if you want to stay for more than a short weekend . Really enjoyed our stay.

The hotel sits on a steep incline, so you definitely need comfy shoes coming from the train station (even thought it’s a short walk - can be strenuous if you have a lot of luggage) Also know that elevator is only in main building and it’s small- so plan for some stairs ( will help walk off all the delicious food options around the hotel)

Extremely friendly and helpful receptionists, gave me the free regional train ticket already early in the morning, stored my baggage until checkin, put it in my room. Excellent breakfast. Literally at the train station.

Some of the public spaces leave a bit ageing impression, but I'd say this hotel is ageing like a good wine

So much to love about this hotel! Great location - close proximity to train station and town center- gorgeous scenery and close to the the lake. Breakfast buffet was included in our room cost which was a great deal! Such a variety of options too..delicious fresh dishes ( scrambled eggs/ or boiled, bacon, fresh croissants and varieties of local breads, fresh fruit salad, cheeses, and tomato/ cucumbers, cereals/ yogurt-not to mention juices, tea, and very good coffee)- We stayed for six nights and were very glad we used this hotel for our first trip to Switzerland. Very helpful staff that spoke several languages ( Italian, English, French, German) was a big plus for directions and tips for enjoying the best of Lugano.

Bring good shoes for walking as their are steep inclines walking to the property( but you are in Switzerland so that’s part of the adventure). Also hotel has one elevator but it’s small - tricky if you have larger suitcases. Be prepared for stairs, especially if using the studio apartments in the hotel’s second building ( but having a studio is a wonderful option for a longer stay like ours due to the kitchen area with stove/ mini refrigerator and microwave)

a hotel with 100 year tradition of hospitality but completely renovated. We have chosen the studio which is in not inside the hotel. The hotel staff carried our luggage and park the car for us. the studio has a fully equipped kitchen and quite spacious. If you travel by train, it’s within walking distance and convenient for public transport. The free travel pass is given upon check-in if you follow the link to fill in details in advance. I was a bit worried about some negative comments when I book but we only had positive experiences. all the staff are kind and friendly.

Great location if you are traveling by train and don’t want to lug your luggage up and down the hill (the train station is on top of the hill and the hotel is a short walk below). We had a panoramic room with a balcony and a great view of the lake, old town, and bell tower - beautiful. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was good.

The positive of it being close to the train station is also a small negative since it’s too loud to sleep with the windows open at night, but we didn’t hear any noise with the windows closed.

We stayed in a studio room. It was well lit, spacious, and clean, and had a spacious bathroom. There were a lot of utensils and dishes, toilet paper, bags, and paper towels. The closet was comfortable, and there was a safe. The location is very convenient: it's close to the downtown and to the train station. However, it's a steep slope from the downtown to the hotel and from the hotel to the train station. The staff is very responsive.

It's our second time in this hotel, and in a studio room. We liked the #1 studio room better than the #3 studio room where we stayed this time. The street noise was a bit bothersome. Also, there weren't enough hooks and shelves in the bathroom, but it's a common issue.

We booked the lovely studio apartment which is in the building adjacent to the hotel. The location was incredible, situated right beside the train station and the beautiful church and on the path down to the main square of Lugano. The staff were extremely friendly and we were provided with a Ticino ticket for free public travel around Lugano (though we never used it as all of Lugano is easily walkable) and vouchers including a free trip up one of the funiculars. Overall, we couldn’t recommend this place more as a base to explore Lugano and the surrounding areas.

Location!! Short walk to the train station and a one minute walk from the vernacular stop that takes you up or down the hill. As you are high up the view is wonderful but still only a short walk to the lively restaurant and shopping area as well as the lakefront. Andreas in reception was wonderful, so welcoming and very helpful.

Hotel is a bit dated and in need of an update but the location more than compensates for this.

While located a short walk below the train station down a sloped walkway (yay, no stairs !) , it was quiet and super convenient to both the historic center of town and the train. The room and bathroom were nothing special, rather modest, but clean with good A/C and comfortable mattresses. The buffet breakfast was very nice and lovely out in the courtyard with attentive staff to bring you coffee and tea. In fact, the warm and helpful staff both at breakfast and at the reception were probably our favorite thing about this hotel---they gave us great hiking suggestions , helped us navigate the bus system to get where we wanted to go and made restaurant suggestions and dinner reservations for us. They made our stay !
