First of all, I did not expect to pay a budget hostel price in a very famous ski resort in the alps. When I arrived from Paris by train, I did not have mobile internet right away but the place was so easy to find, just walk to the left when alighting the train station. The hostel structure was in quaint wood material which really gave it a swiss alps vibe. I really liked how the bunk beds/wooden pods were laid out, it was in such a way that the lower deck faced the opposite of the upper deck so there was still total privacy. My bunk bed was in the lower part and it faced the window which was awesome. The wooden pod had a large space with sockets and felt like I was sleeping inside a cocoon. I slept soundly here. The kitchen is huge and well-equipped you can literally cook any meal you want. They had individual basket trays for your items so you can store your food separately in the refrigerator without getting mixed up with the other. The hostel was near a COOP supermarket which was very well stocked. The lovely receptionist named Aggie pro-actively asked me if I wanted to switch to an all-female room because I booked the mixed room initially. I really appreciated this gesture. If there was anything to improve, maybe the bed matress can be a little bit softer? This was not a big issue and I slept soundly regardless. Overall, Hotel Bahnhof exceeded my expectations and I am literally telling all my friends about it.

Amazing location, clean rooms and toilets. Comfortable bed. On top amazing host Aggie. Location of this place is amazing, just next to the main train station as well as to the Gornegrat station. Property was really beautiful from outside. Stayed in the dorm which was on the top floor, which was really comfortable. Bed was soft and cozy. Toilets were clean and kitchen which was at the basement was huge and tidy. The host Aggie was really friendly and nice and had suggestions for anything you wanted. Would suggest this place highly.

Showers could have shower gel, which makes easier for backpackers to not carry much stuff.

I stayed in the mixed dorm. The beds were spacious in general. There were lockers for valuables in the dorm room. The place was quite clean in general during my stay. Aggie, at the reception, was super nice and friendly. They tried to help me with all my concerns. Kitchen was a big thumbs-up. So spacious and with such a cozy living room. Way better than the pictures. Instantly put me at ease after a tiring hike. Many pots and pans including grater and peeler! 2 refrigerators. I stayed when the weather was a bit cooler so it didnt get uncomfortably hot during my stay. There was a small balcony with a view of the Matterhorn. Every bed had a nice shelf to keep your stuff. Location is awesome as its directly outside the train station.

The mixed dorm is on the 4th floor with no toilet or shower on that floor. There is no elevator. And there is also no door for one section of the dorm which could be disturbing if people used toilet on the floor below. The stairs for the 4th floor dorm are narrow and I was always very careful while climbing them.

We could literally see hotel Bahnhof the moment we stepped on the platform of Zermatt train station upon our arrival from Geneva - it is just across the street. Very conveniently located on the main road of Zermatt with all the shops and restaurants nearby. The hotel room was very clean, had the basic amenities and the wooden finish on floor and walls gave us a pleasant mountain like feeling. The view of the mountains from the hotel room was also nice. The facilities in the common kitchen were quite adequate and we enjoyed the atmosphere there, interacting with many fellow hostel guests from different countries. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Enjoyed staying here.

Room could have been a bit more spacious.

There are many things to highlight: the location right next to the HB was amazing especially if you are backpacking and tired of your luggage. Aggie was great answering all our questions even before arriving, while dropping our luggage, and even via Booking messages while we were out visiting Zermatt, and also providing great recommendations. And the view that it has of the nearby mountains makes it worth every CHF paid. Note that there is only one restroom and one shower per floor but this was not an issue for us, and also there is one extra restroom near the kitchen.

The shower does not have a curtain and there is a chance to spill out, but it is easy to just clean up after yourself (please do the next person taking a shower will appreciate it).

- comfy, decent sized beds with power point - great location across from the station and surprisingly quiet outside considering location - decent amount of space in the dorm - washing facilities available

- although there’s a shower and toilet on every floor, I found I had to use facilities on another level every time, especially annoying being in the attic which didn’t have any facilities - dorm in the attic didn’t have a door to the level below, making it loud. also meant there was not a lot of privacy in the dorm with people walking through to another dorm - we didn’t know that reception closes between check out and check in times, so we turned up at midday wanting to hire a storage locker as as everyone’s but were unable to as they required a key card to access. had to take out big backpack hiking with us as a result

We booked two rooms. A single and a double. They both had spectacular views of the Matterhorn. Possibly the best hotel view on record. 1 minute to railway. And 2 minutes to excellent COOP supermarket. Near hiking routes and mountain railway. Could buy meals and eat them at tables in front of the premises. Adding to the value.

Had to share bathrooms and showers but it wasn’t too big of a problem as there were many and mostly quite clean. Single was located just below the hostel floor so there was a lot of foot traffic audible when people got in and out of their bunks. Quite expensive. But maybe not for Zermatt.

Location of the hostel is perfect: you will see it right after leaving the train. It's very beautiful from outside and cozy inside. The room has a mirror, good lightning. The bed's very comfortable and has a personal lightning plus the socket. The lockers are individual and have the same key that is for the room. Kitchen's clean and has everything you may need. I would say that it would be great to have there some tea bags for common use as the coffee machine excepts only local currency. There are only 3 toilet rooms and 2 showers if I'm not mistaken but there was never a queue. Everything is clean as there are always cleaning ladies to take care of it. Staff on the whole is very friendly and ready to help. The only one receptionist girl I met was very charming and we had a warm long talk) So big hello to you from Finland)) I would definitely stay there again!

The location of this Hotel is the best possible spot in the village of Zermatt. You're in the center of the main road where you can look out your balcony and view the center of activity or sit at the picnic tables on the hotel front porch and enjoy the view while you feel part of the festivities. Best of all the Zermatt train station is literally directly across the street. It's the most convenient location I've ever stayed while touring Europe.

I received an email from Booking.com with a receipt showing that I pre-paid, but Hotel Banhof said it wasn't paid and so I'm unsure if it will be a duplicate charge.
