Everything in Switzerland is expensive (believe me), but at least this hotel was worth the price. We happened to have a great corner room with a view of the Matterhorn. Can’t imagine everyone is so lucky, but this was a great room. Table and chairs and even a small lounger (which may have been a sleeper?) was nice for an in-room meal. Good comfy bed. The hotel is DIRECTLY across from the rail station – so easy & convenient. [Train noise was not an issue at all.] The best location to transportation we had on our trip. It is right in the middle of town. We got a warm welcome and the breakfast is very good. (Definitely try their yogurt.) Not only was there a view of the Matterhorn, but we were also able to watch their special goats being herded during the day.

Con. Not many problems here but I always look at beds and showers. The shower floor was too slippery. In their defense, they actually made the effort to have a grab bar, but ours was loose and unstable. With that repair I would say all was perfect enough.

The staff were so wonderful and accommodating. They were so very helpful with suggestions and happy to have a chat. Made me feel right at home. The rooms are basic but comfortable, bigger then I was expecting. The restaurant was great had delish food and our server was just beyond amazing, I can't recall his name but he was originally from Greece and he was just full of positive energy and could not do enough for you with such a happy disposition. What a delightful man. A great location, literally across the road from the train station, and a coop next door. Walking distance to everything, I walked all the way down to the ski slopes (I wasn't skiing).

The bathroom had some mould and there were a few dead bugs on the bed. But it didn't detract from how we'll the staff treated us, and because of that is stay there again!

The location and staff are the best parts of this hotel. It is located right opposite of the train station of Zermatt and you won't miss it once you step out of the train station. It's very convenient to go anywhere around Zermatt. The staff are friendly and super helpful. They are providing so much information in where and how to go around Zermatt, I must stop them because I was kind of information overloading on arrival. :) I rarely ran into hotel staff have so much in-depth knowledge about its surroundings. They are super knowledgeable, helpful and nice!!!

Even though the location and staff are very nice, the hotel itself is a bit old. The carpet is worn out and the floor isn't very flat on some spots. Other than that, it's clean and conformable.

Very good location, opposite the train station, next to the COOP shop to rent equipment and also get freshly baked pastries. Friendly staff and the lady offered to make us take away breakfast since we had to take the train very early at 5am. Surprised to see a bag with two sandwiches, two fruits, water and egg. Many thanks, it was great to have these on the long train ride we had.

The location of this hotel is great - only steps from both Zermatt train station and the Gornergrat cogwheel train to see the Matterhorn. There was a grocery store close by & several restaurants within a short walk. The staff was excellent - very welcoming. They also helped identify alternate activities as it was raining and the mountains weren’t visible.

Very central and lovely very helpful staff. The room was clean and breakfast very good value for money. We wanted to go on the chairlift to the Matterhorn and staff excellent with advice and for the best views of the Matterhorn.

We had NO COMPLAINTS of this hotel. Hotel needing some refurbishment BUT the excellent staff and service they give makes up for it. We would love to return and definitely stay again 🤞🤞

I paid an advanced purchase rate for a better yet bargain hotel fare. So far, this hotel is only few steps from Zermatt Train Station and breakfast is fine. Everything needed is within the area.

The property has already aged and outdated. The room carpet has visible stains and no air condition. I needed to open the balcony door or it can be warm in the room.

The location was great an easy trolly ride into the beautiful old town area of Bern. The staff was awesome and gave great advise on where to go and what to see. Also the pointed as to a great local restaurant for Swiss food. Had a blast.

Not their fault. We came in the summer month of July and the room was warm but no one has a/c, so we made the best of it with the windows open. They did have a small fan in the room, bonus points.

Gornergrat Dorf Hotel is an excellent, well-priced hotel that is in a perfect location for skiers and tourists alike: if you arrive by train then it's 1-minute walk from the station. The Gornergrat is right in centre of the town and is close to the ski facilities, shops, bars and supermarkets. For me it was an ideal choice. For skiers you can easily walk from the hotel to the Sunnega lift in 10 minutes or close by there is a bus stop which will take you to the Matterhorn-Express lift. This bus service is free and runs every five minutes. I booked a single room in the hotel at the end of Feb 2022. It had a small balcony and a view of the mountains. I found my room to be spacious with a large comfortable bed with a very clean duvet and pillow. The room came equipped with a small fridge and a television. It had a large wardrobe and coat hangers on the wall to put your ski jack and salopettes. The room had a en suite bathroom with shower and a deep bath. There was constant hot water for those wanting a deep soak! The room was spotlessly clean and was cleaned every day. My booking included breakfast and I thought that the hotel's offering was very generous: each day there was a large choice of items and included such things as breads, croissants, cereals, porridge and even boiled eggs. There was a selection of cheeses, jams, honey, and fruit juices. In the basement of the hotel there is a secure ski room with heated pipes to place your ski boots so they are lovely and warm when you put them on in the morning. Next to the ski room is a solarium that contains a sauna - great for relaxing after a tiring day skiing. By the side of the hotel there is also a bistro/restaurant which serves very decent, reasonably priced food. One evening I visited and had an excellent ham and egg rosti. Delicious. I really enjoyed staying at this hotel. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful. If I visit Zermatt again I would happily return to this hotel.

The wifi signal is not strong in the bedroom and I could only get it to work intermittently. But this was not a problem for me as I just used my phone's data roaming package.

The staff (receiptionist, restaurant waitress,pub waiter)are all very friendly and helpful.Especially the receiptionist,she patiently explained to me where and how to take the bus or train for my trip Matterhorn Glacier Paradise and Gornegrat.Location is great,just diagonally across the street from train station.

The hotel is really old and really need renovation.Mold in the shower room.Dirt on the carpet.Elevator is very small. Breakfast only have some breads,cheese and ham.Drink have little more variety but need to improve.
