What i love about this place is that the staff are attentive. Checkin and checkout is a breeze There's a room heater. The room is comfortable as well as the bed sheets. The bathroom is also clean and they provided soap and shampoo. The breakfast starts 7am. But coffee is available at the coffee machine even before breakfast is served. They have bread, eggs, coldcuts, fruits, cereals, cheese.. and my view on the breakfast table is the Matterhorn Mountain with icy tops... Great!!!

The place is a good 1.5km walk along cobblestone path. Although the walkway was very scenic with all the chalets and icy mountain surroundings it, it will be difficult if you have a wheeled luggage. There is also no elevator at the building, but its ok as the stairs are wide enough if you're carrying a luggage. There's an electric bus (free ride) that's supposed to go around but I haven't chanced on it. Electric taxis can be hired though. Then there's a climb of about 100m to the hostel. So it's better if you leave your luggage at any major train station and just bring what you need if you're just going for a sight seeing.

My sister and I enjoyed our stay here! My favorite part was the dinner. We booked it ahead of time and paid 20 CHF each for a three-course meal. The food was delicious and it was a great deal! My sister eats gluten-free and they had options for her too 🙂

Be prepared to take the stairs with your luggage! It's 2 flights of stairs from the street to the entrance and then our room was on the third floor. There was no elevator in the hostel that I was aware of.

Great breakfast buffet.

Location is at the highest point in Zermatt with no real way of getting there via a bus or taxi car. Be prepared to climb up the hill with your bags if you reserve this property.

Breakfast is rich and plentiful. Dinner (extra) is in tremendous quality and plentiful with an unlimited supply of soup, tea and coffee. However, comparing with the dinner in our first night of stay it was a complete opposite (with basically poor quality pizza in supply only) since it was the day of Easter Friday. Further, its location is unbeatable, with Mt Matterhorn right at the doorstep. Also, it is clean and tidy.

When we arrived (on Easter Friday), the receptionist seemed rather disinterested. We were (over 60 in age) asked to input our personal particulars into a laptop computer turned over from her. No help was forthcoming at all (she even retreated into the office next to the reception counter). We were struggling since we were poor in computer and the computer screen was too small. When we left two days later, the attitude of another receptionist contrasted hugely with the first one.

people are nice and supportive. Mu sister lost a sunglass but they found it and keep it and give it back for her. Moreover, there was amazing Matterhorn view in the common area and we had wonderful time with breakfast and dinner in there.

We need to carry my bag with so many stars myself if you don’t take taxi. Moreover, there is no dryer and we need to get from reception at check in, otherwise we can not get it at the night, because no one is there at night,

I like the room with the view of the Matterhorn. Unfortunately when I went there, it was raining and I wasn't able to see it fully 😔

The location is a little bit far from the train station. If you walk and carry big luggage, it is difficult. The roads and stairs are steep. They don't have a lift either.

It located near to the hiking trails and you might be able to see Matterhorn from the hostel if the weather was good enough. The breakfast was excellent.

The guests who stayed at the upper floor of rooms must walk upstairs with their baggages. One male staff at the kitchen was quite rude to the guest. As I would need to check out a bit before the breakfast time, I asked if I could get two boiled eggs from the basket to go but the male staff stopped me. Upon my persisting request, he reluctuntly gave me two boiled eggs. He said that he just followed the instruction from his boss.

The view of the Matterhorn is exceptionally great. The Breakfast was on time and wholesome .

The host at the reception can be a little more welcoming. The hike and stairs up the hotel doors is tiring.

The beds were the comfiest hostel bed I've ever slept in. The breakfast were amazing and definitely gave the energy boost for any adventures. The view of the matterhorn on a clear day from most of the rooms is just wow. Couldn't have asked for better.

Be prepared for a tough uphill walk if you're lugging bags around with you. There are taxis available but I suspect expensive. Also no laundry facilities and the showers are just awful. The light sensor means the light turns off every five minutes. No good when it's outside the shower and I'm left in the dark.

Zermatt Youth Hostel is one of the best hostels I have stayed in in my travel life. The best thing during my stay was the food. I paid for my dinner services, and the dinner was fabulous. The cook was great, and the food was great. I can return to this hostel to spend a longer time there. Now I am thinking, I wish I had spent longer in that hostel. Apart from this view, Matterhorn is an extra reason to stay in this hostel. The main square, Zermat Main Railway station, and everything else are accessible. The bathrooms, bed linens, and everything else are super clean, and the staff at the reception is very friendly. I can't think of anywhere else to stay in Zermatt but in the Zermatt Youth Hostel. Even if I grow old, I will stay in this youth hostel to feel better. I have one piece of advice for my fellow travellers: If you travel to Zermatt, a mountain city, do not travel with a suitcase; go there with a backpack. For the last few metres, you have to take a few steps, and steps are not meant for dragging a suitcase. So go carrying your backpack.
