Steep stairs but that couldn’t be helped

We had the family room just for two of us and it was very spacious, as was the bathroom. The bed was comfortable and the room was quiet. It was well stocked with toiletries and tea and coffee. The staff were very friendly. The traditional breakfast was good.

The breakfast menu had interesting choices like eggs Benedict and smashed avocado but none of these were great whereas the full English was good. There was a bright green fire exit light in the bedroom which stopped us from sleeping well.

Our room overlooked the front of the pub and was a little noisy (traffic). It would have been nice if the triple room had had three single beds instead of a double and a single but it didn't really matter and we were mainly grateful that we didn't need to pay for two rooms.

Wonderfully located in the village, close to the harbour. The bar was welcoming, restaurant had a lovely big French window letting light in and we had breakfast with them open enjoying the sunshine and breeze. The rooms are easily accessible and privately located so you don’t have to walk through the bar, and can be accessed from the car park.

Lovely comfortable room, very clean staff absolutely amazing they couldnt do enough. We actually stayed the night before which was booked by a friend for her wedding. We should have moved rooms but they said we could stay in same room for 2nd night. We didnt realise that the owner used to own the boardwalk in whitley bay which we loved going to. Unfortunately it was pulledcdown when the sea front was updated a big mistake. The well wood is a very friendly pub. We enjoyed conversation s lot with the locals especially onesxeith dogs.

One of the radiators in bedroom wasnt working, someone came to check but needed a plumer but there was 2 radiators in the room and if bathroom door left open it was ok.

Love the wellwood, this was the first time staying here as usually its just for food and drinks. A lovely little jem of a place.

The floorboards creaked outside our room and we were right next to the door to go downstairs so heard everyone coming and going. Our key to our room also opened our friends room! Obviously didn't check the rest of the doors but did make me wonder...not everyone is honest!

Lovely staff, the room was massive, a good price for booking late. The bar and restaurant are nice. Had food in the restaurant, was very nice and so was the wine. Breakfast was good. Good parking

The only thing was the stairs. My mam is 81 and struggled a little bit but that's not a negative

Room was clean with everything that was needed. Breakfast was nice and the location for town was great.

It was quite warm so we turned the radiators off. The room was a little smaller than expected.

We really enjoyed the good breakfast and the very cosy beds. Thanks for the supply of tea in the room. The bathroom was well equipped and quite big. The pub is lovely. Surprisingly our room was quiet, inspite of beeing right next to a busy junction. We really appreciated that.

Friendly staff, lovely bedroom, comfortable bed and lots of space. Nice toiletries in bathroom.

Breakfast plenty of choice but could have done with a pot of tea or coffee on the table with bigger cups. Had to keep getting up to refill a very small cup at the table.
