We had such a wonderful stay! We were only up for the one night but we were running late because of traffic. The lady waited up for us which was so lovely. Our room was big and the beds were very comfortable, the bathroom was super clean too. Breakfast was wonderful! Continental breakfast buffet, followed by toast and then whatever we wanted off the cooked menu. We went for the Northumbrian breakfast which was delicious. For the price and the location in the heart of Alnwick, the value for money was amazing. Thank you for your hospitality :)

The only thing we didn’t like about our stay if we were being really picky was the coffee with breakfast. It wasn’t very nice at all but there were cold drinks and tea available too so it’s really not the end of the world!

Good location, about 15 mins walk from Alnwick castle and gardens, good food in the restaurant, very popular and busy with locals which is a good sign of good food. Comfortable beds and room and facilities in the room tea / coffee and biscuits. Good variety of options for breakfast and for dinner. Its also on a bus route, which is good if you are coming by train to Alnmouth and are getting the connecting bus to Alnwick from the station or from Newcastle.

It was on a busy road, we had to have the windows open in the room for some air, there was a lot of road traffic outside during the night. The lighting in the room could be better for reading as it was a bit dim. It was quite an expensive stay for two nights for two adults and a 15 year old teenager, but there are limited accommodation options in Alnwick and we went for the best option that we could find.

The ground floor room we stayed in just off the garden was perfect for our stay - although we weren't in it very much as we were out and about! We had our own front door and outdoor table and chairs which would be lovely in warmer weather! The staff were friendly and welcoming and the food in the restaurant was decent, plentiful and well cooked 'pub grub' - we would certainly stay here again.

The only thing we might suggest is offering a slightly later breakfast as during the week breakfast service finishes at 9am - which we felt was a tad early - weekends it carries on until 9:30 which suited us better!

Lovely friendly staff and an exceptional level access room that was dog-friendly so handy for getting outside. The room was very comfortable and well equipped. A great location as a short walk to Alnwick and as we visited in December we enjoyed the lovely Christmas lights - if you know, you know! Alnwick has a really special feeling at this time of year. Went for a short drive down to our favourite beach at Alnmouth but buses are also available. In the morning we had a really enjoyable breakfast with a good choice of dishes. Even bought a sausage for the border terrier. Would definitely stay again.

I can't think of anything. I wish our stay had been longer.

First impressions count! They certainly do, the welcome was warm and friendly and check in process quick. We were tired after 2 days of moving my possessions up to the North East from South Wales, so a long drive, and the weather on that day had been abysmal - cold, driving rain, windy - so all we wanted was a bed and possible a bath - and what a bath. Long, deep, lovely toiletries in individual bottles, one of those lovely trays to prop a book on, with room for a glass of wine. Lovely towels and a heated towel rail made it very cosy. We decided to stay at the hotel for dinner - no way we were going out in that rain, so we booked a table straightaway when we arrived and there was also a quiz that night - bonus! The food was lovely and piping hot, service prompt. After good food and nice wine, we did the quiz. Well, way more challenging than the pub quizzes we usually do - the host had a spreadsheet to enter our results in, round by round, and some quite detailed marking. We were asked if we minded someone joining us, so a gentleman made us a team of three. Thank goodness, because he knew the ins and outs of the quiz. It was also incredibly competitive. I think we were more of a liability as we came 6th out of 8 teams, but there was a bonus question, so we thought 'in for a penny, in for a pound' -literally - if your guess was closest you won the pot and my companion did - £26 - more than the prize for the main quiz and our gentleman friend made fascinating company! Then it was bedtime. The beds were out of this world, okay, we were tired but both slept so soundly and felt so rested the next day - neither of us wanted to get out of bed, they were so divine. Worth the rate for the beds alone! Breakfast was a nice choice of cereals, yoghurts, fruit etc with milk alternatives and a freshly cooked hot meal of your choice. I had an omelette for a change and it was a great portion size, my companion had a full English, which she said was a perfect size.

We had a van and the parking was rather tight, but that can't really be helped given the location. The coffee got cool faster than I would like, but I like my drinks scalding hot, so probably just personal preference. Rate was higher than I would normally pay but seemed to be par for the course for Alnwick

Room was very nice and clean, everything worked and it was a bonus to have an ironing board and iron. Breakfast was delicious with good helpings and a great selection. I did not have dinner so cannot comment.

Only a couple of really minor niggles with room 20 where I stayed. Firstly, there was a rather unpleasant odour on first entering the room which smelled like dog. I know the hotel is dog friendly so maybe the room could have been aired out a little and/or an air freshener installed to mask the smell. Secondly, there were no electrical sockets close to the bedside cabinets in order to plug in a phone charger, there were sockets located elsewhere but just not close enough to be able to look at a phone while on charge when in bed. these small issues did not detract from a wonderful stay.

The food from the lunch menu was lovely, I had pesto chicken on sourdough. Size of the shower space, and the fact it was a walk in shower. Two ladies that worked there was absolutely excellent, the lady on arrival and then the lady who checked us out; she was absolutely brilliant, looked after us at breakfast and had a laugh with her.

There wasn't a full length mirror in the room which would have been nice as we stayed there for a wedding, but couldn't see ourselves very well. Better lighting, it was really dark in the room.

A very comfortable stay. Staff were lovely and friendly. The room was quite large. Spotlessly clean. Had every comfort. The bed was extremely comfortable. The shower was excellent. The TV was larger screen than most places I have stayed and had internet access on it to films and YouTube etc. Breakfast nice. Had a lovely kipper. They do lunch and evening meals which I did not try but menu looked nice. Also having a good size car park so no worries about parking on arrival. Short pleasant walk into centre of Alnwick. Would definitely stay here again on my next trip

Nothing.

The location is brilliant. With either a short walk or drive into Alnwick - there are a good number of parking spaces at the rear of the building as well. The breakfast was a good choice of cold and hot food for the size of the inn. Lunch was brilliant - the cod goujons sandwiches were great. The room was spacious with a good bathroom & air conditioning which we appreciated in the warm weather. The beer garden is a lovely sun trap & a great place to kill an hour or two. The quiz on Wednesday night was also a good way to pass to time - although be ready to work your brain!

The atmosphere in the dining room wasn’t especially lively - so depending on what your are looking for it might be worth going into Alnwick.

Welcoming & friendly staff throughout our stay. Good breakfast; buffet style continental & hot food cooked to order. Tasty home cooked food in the pub for evening meal option. Prices on par with other venues in the town.
