Lovely hotel. We had a room on the second floor which was quite small but suited us as we only stayed for 2 nights. A great supply of coffee, tea, milk and biscuits which was a nice touch. The room was very clean. We didn't have breakfast, but actually ate in the hotel both evenings and the food was very good and plentiful. Good location for bars, restaurants etc. and also only half an hour to the coast. The castle and gardens are only round the corner and worth a visit. We would certainly stay here again when we visit Alnwick.

Agree, the entrance to the car park is a little 'tight', but just take it slowly :) Other than that, no complaints.

The staff were great and lovely clean room. Excellent location and free parking. I had breakfast both days and dined in the restaurant one evening and the food was lovely.

My only issue was that when the bar area is closed then access to the rooms is by stairs outside with a key fob to open the back door. I was on the third floor and I am scared of heights so no way would I be going in and out by the back exit. Although, to be fair one day I was due to be out at 7.00am and on checking they said at that time I would need to use the stairs outside but when realised I was scared they were going to arrange for a member of staff to come in earlier for me. Luckily I didn't need to leave that early in the end but they would have accommodated me. I was travelling on my own on this trip so coming in late after the bar shut wasn't an issue but if I had been with my partner I would have been worried about having to use the back stairs to get back to my room.

Staff member, I think his name was Alex is extremely friendly and funny. Had some laughs with him and he carried our case up to the room. The room was immaculate and was comfortable! The food was next level great! We had lunch there when we arrived...wandered down the street for drinks and tea on the evening but ended up back at the plough to try other stuff on the menu because the food was that good! Real chunky chips make all the difference on a plate! So much better than oven chips or fries! Location was spot on. Minutes walking distance to the castle, the gardens and the book shop! Then your at the start of the main high Street to wander for drinks and shops. Top tip. Your stay includes free parking behind the plough! Park up there and walk to the attractions rather than paying for car parks and potentially not finding a space during a busy summers day!

Due to a plumbing issue we were accommodated in an establishment immediately across the road. The Plough manager phoned us ahead of arrival to inform us of the situation and did everything possible to keep disruption to a minimum. We were able to have breakfast, which was adequate, at The Plough. The dining room had a good atmosphere and was comfortable. We had dinner at The Plough and it was excellent and good value. The location was perfect for the town centre, Alnwick Castle and Gardens, and the Playhouse.

The road outside was very busy.

Beautifully decorated and clean. Friendly, hospitable staff. Great location, within walking distance of Alnwick Castle and the Alnwick Garden and just next to a bus stop for easy access to Almouth and other places. Very nice breakfast. I'd stay there again!

It wasn't too much of a problem for me but for anyone with limited mobility, the rooms are up quite a lot of stairs. For those with a wide car, the tight entrance to the car park was a bit nerve-wracking (but plenty of space once in, which was great).

It has a great central location close to the castle, with ample free parking behind the hotel, which is best accessed from the lane rather than under the very narrow arch at the front of the hotel. The staff greeted us warmly and were very helpful throughout our stay. The room was a good size and very clean with a reasonable ensuite. It was very quiet at night, with a comfortable bed. It has a great restaurant for dinner and breakfast.

We did not find anything to dislike.

Friendly staff. Well situated for town. Plenty of parking Room was small, however we booked the cheaper smaller room, but comfortable. Tea/ coffee making facilities with biscuits in the room Breakfast was tasty (although not included in the price) We didn't eat an evening meal in the restaurant but the food looked good. Nice toiletries in the bathroom.

If you are out and are to return after 9/ 9.30pm you need to use the fire escape as the door between the hotel and accommodation is locked. This is because the accommodation is no manned after a certain time. It is safe however not everyone might be able to or comfortable using this staircase. The room had 2 wall lights above the bed which didn't work. There was one replacement bedside lamp but not one for each side of the bed. We could hear snoring from an adjacent room. Lane to the parking, which is behind the hotel, is narrow. We found it OK but a big car or less confident driver might not be so happy.

Easy and friendly check in. Staff were lovely. Room was perfect (stayed in Muckle) Was worried about the shower from reading previous reviews but the water pressure was great - in fact it was adjustable on the shower unit.

The breakfast was such a let down. Bland, cold, slow service...ordered fried eggs with my veggie breakfast but got scrambled - took so long to arrive that I didn't have time to ask for it to be sorted..we were in a hurry.

Good location Comfy bed Great pillows and duvet

Stayed at the Plough while attending a wedding in Alnwick. Small double room, very comfortable and clean bed.Shower wasn't the most powerful but bathroom was clean with towels supplied.Although we stayed October the room was very warm with just a small velux window so the fan supplied was needed to keep the room cool,I would imagine in the height of the summer the room heat would be unbearable. The carpark is at the back of the hotel, free with plenty spaces but it's very tight driving up a narrow alley to enter it. The staff we came across were extremely pleasant and we would use this hotel again.

The location is close to the Castle grounds and the poison garden! We were keen to see the gardens. The centre of town is a short walk up the road and the book exchange is nearby too. The bar was friendly and gave good service, breakfast, served on the first floor, was really good. We opted to stay in for dinner too, good quality food delivered by cheerful staff. We were very happy that the carpark was there and very close by.

We didn't find anything...
