Room spotlessly clean. Bed very comfortable. Facilities in room excellent. Breakfast very good. . Fresh orange juice was exactly that. Made with freshly sqeezed oranges! Good choice of cereals and hot food and rotating toaster that actually toasted the bread. The staff were very friendly and helpful and I would be happy to recommend this hotel. We will definitely pay a return visit.

We had an accessible room but disappointed that the shower was over the bath! It made having a shower very difficult for both my husband and I because of our mobility problems. Surely an accessible room should have either a wet room or a walk in shower.

I was travelling with a disabled lady. Adam, the Duty Manager, greeted us and helped me to bring in the equipment required. He helped to move furniture and set up the lovely large accessible room for our requirements. Adam was so attentive and helpful, not just on arrival but every day of the week we were there when he was on duty. We also notice how he 'mucked in' with other staff, emptying bins, cleaning tables, wiping up spills, etc. If a job needed doing, he did it. If we did not require our room to be serviced the next day we had vouchers to get a drink from the bar each night. Well! That was a treat! As the driver, I missed out on a glass of wine with dinner, but could look forward to something when we returned at the end of the day. The house keeping staff were fantastic, although they didn't come in to service the room, they provided everything we needed, when required. They were also lovely ladies only too willing to help or advise where then could. I had spent time in advance of our trip to ensure we could manage with a wheelchair accessible room, bringing our own lifting and transfer equipment as none was provided, that the shower room was truly a wet room with no ridges that get in the way of wheels. Great breakfasts, no need for lunch! We had 2 enjoyable evening meals in the hotel, preferring to try somewhere different other nights. Portion sizes were large! Great location for all we wanted to do. All the staff were delightful. Adam was exceptional. Thank you.

Wrong question! We loved it. However, my suggestions for improvements to accommodate severely disabled people even better would be: 1. A ceiling hoist and shower chair on wheels would have been the icing on the cake to make it a perfect stay, then we wouldn't have needed to bring so much equipment. 2. The beds were comfy, but a profiling bed would have been better for the disabled person. However, we brought our own grab rails and and elephant feet to raise the bed, and used extra pillows under the mattress to tilt the position.

Very good breakfast buffet although when bowls of fruit had all gone, no more were brought out. Good choice of evening meals and the food we had on both nights was very good. Dog free rooms were available and were very clean. Very comfortable and spacious room. Good shower.

Restaurant was very cool on the Sunday night. Had to go back to my room for a jumper! Although there were only a couple of dogs in the hotel, I do not think dogs should be allowed in areas where people are eating. There should be a specific area for dogs, or alternatively a dog free area of the restaurant. A lounge area would be good, for pre or post dinner drinks or coffees.

Staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Food was excellent, we had dinner and breakfast, though some of the breakfast items under the heat lights could have done with being a bit hotter (esp mushrooms). Particularly loved the freshly squeezed orange juice from the machine. Rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable.

The only issue I could mark down on was the sound insulation on the windows. When we arrived, the road noise from the A1 was such that we thought there was a window open, but there wasn’t. Thankfully as darkness fell, the volume of traffic reduced, and it wasn’t a major problem in disrupting our sleep. On the flip side - the proximity to the A1 is a plus for easy access.

We had a disability room which was huge! Staff marvellous. Food was great. Everywhere was spotless and clean. Liked the decor!

Lack of sign for Reception. Walking around trying to find an entrance door. Reception desk tucked away at the end of the bar. When I commented that such a place has a small Reception area was told by the general manager that it was a pub not a hotel. He pointed to a sign which was in front of the bar where I was standing not outside. Would've have preferred a walk-in shower couldn't use bath because of poor mobility. Road noise was annoying close to A1 should've asked for a quiet room.

Room was quiet, spacious & generally to a good specification. The only criticism would be that the curtains are inadequate when it comes to the morning light coming through the windows. Blinds would probably work better.

Only criticism would be the quality of the food on the menu. My partner and I had the rump steak & the cajun chicken and both were frankly inedible. Unsure if this was a one-off as other people there seemed to be finishing meals with no issue. Breakfast was good - and although we didn't indulge in the Sunday lunch, it was clearly very popular!

Hotel and room were very clean, Staff very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Very easy to get into Alnwick from the hotel.

Room was situated on the side of the hotel where the windows faced on to the A1 which meant traffic noise was quite bad in a morning, and early evening, although the traffic tailed off later at night, so no problem sleeping due to the noise. The room was very warm due to no air conditioning ( the weather was warm during our stay) and due to the noise it was only possible to leave windows open whilst we were out in order to try to cook the room. Breakfast was excellent, good produce, good choice of items hott and cold. Evening menu was ok though a bit limited, , food was fine, ate there one night but chose to walk to another restaurant near by on the second night.

Large room with a comfy 'super king' size luxury Hypnos bed (although the mattress was perhaps a little too firm for us). The shower was fine, although we would have liked a bath as well - the room was plenty large enough to have incorporated this at the design stage. Staff were efficient and friendly. Drinks were reasonably priced apart from some soft drinks, and food prices were about what you would expect to pay in a pub. However, certain items were unusual, for example the pheasant kiev. Overall, a good hotel.

At breakfast, it was necessary to ask on 2 mornings for more bowls of fruit to be put out - perhaps someone should have been keeping a closer eye out for this. The fresh orange juice machine produced a good glass of juice, but it seemed that the used orange skins needed to be emptied from the machine more frequently to prevent jamming - this was a bit of a fiddly job. I suspect that just providing fresh juice from a carton or jug would be less problematic for customers and certainly for the staff. However, breakfast was plentiful and what you would expect on a 'help yourself' buffet.

Cosy atmosphere, nice food (both dinner and breakfast, breakfast with fresh orange juice) and an enormous family room with plenty of beds, all within a couple of minutes from Alnwick castle (the reason for our stop here) with free parking plus a kids playground.

Though the building provides a cosy atmosphere, the location is not very atmospherical, on a business park next to a McDonald's. The staff could have made up for this but we thought the reception quite impersonal, actually the opposite of what we would have expected in a smaller village. We weren't greeted upon arrival (person behind the desk walked away) so took resort to the automated check-in process. Also ordering food was automated by QR code.

Kirstie could not have been more helpful, excellent customer service from her. Various other staff issues which she dealt with promptly.

Negative attitude of one staff member on arrival. Booking was for 3 doubles and a single room, single occupancy was charged at doubles rate. When questioned , nothing he could do , gave her head office phone number. Busy food service so delay between courses, but then told we couldn't get desserts as kitchen closed 15 minutes earlier. Coffee machine cleaned already , refused coffee. As mentioned earlier Kirstie resolved these issues later.
