Steve and Caz have been wonderful hosts during our stay. We received good recommendations from them even before we arrived as to the amenities and restaurants in the vicinity which was very helpful. In addition to that, they provided us with the maps of the walking tours free of charge. The rooms were immaculate with a very personal touch to each room. The breakfast each morning was exceptional and catered to each and every guests dietary needs and delight. I would highly recommend their accommodation as it is not only within walking distance to everything in the village including the bus stops and walking routes but also because it is a quaint and comfortable experience into the traditional English abode in the country. Thank you Steve and Caz. We shall be back. Al & Yans

Hillsdale is in the perfect position for exploring by either boat, bus or car and is within easy walking distance of many restaurants. Caz and Steve are excellent hosts providing every amenity you could possibly need eg wine glasses, flasks of fresh milk. The breakfast was superb with endless options and very well cooked. The bedroom is nicely decorated and even has little extra touches of automatic night light in the bathroom and hot water bottles should you need them. There is a secure car park nearby where they have spaces. We would definitely recommend staying here and hopefully will stay again ourselves

Amazing stay! The hosts were so lovely and couldn't do enough for us.. Great hearty breakfast lots of options and well organised so was served quickly. Rooms were spotless and well equipped with everything you could need! The location is perfect, lots of bars/resturants a stones throw away (Bar eS for Mexican tapas and Tap Yard were great for food and drinks during our trip) and the B&B is only a 15 minute walk to the pier where we got a boat tour of Lake Windermere which was lovely :) All in all we had the best time and we'll definitely be back to stay again :)

No negatives to our stay.

Lovely room, great breakfast, really welcoming owners and fantastic value for money. Location is great and free parking was very useful and secure. Was greeted by a host who couldn’t have done more to make us feel welcome and would stay here again if in Ambleside.

The only thing I could comment on is that the bathroom was quite small in our room but it was still really clean and lovely, and reflected in the price. There could have been maybe some hooks to hang your towel up though - tricky with bifold doors - and perhaps a breakfast option for early risers such as porridge pots or cereal - we left early on a hike and missed the incredible breakfast.

The lady and gentleman we met who run this B&B were very welcoming and had a great sense of humour, we felt very relaxed and safe here. The room was exceptionally clean and so cozy (we also found the beds to be super comfy and even the pillows!) we had everything we needed in the room including an en-suite bathroom and shower, and a hairdryer! The location was absolutely perfect, right in the middle of Ambleside, literally a two minute walk to the restaurant we went to eat in. For the breakfast, we ordered what we preferred the night prior, and I think it might have been the best breakfast I’ve ever tasted. Lovely atmosphere and we felt so relaxed and comfortable. 10/10, we would book to go here again absolutely!

The location is perfect, pretty close to points of interest. We got discounts from few pubs because we stayed in this property. The property has everything I needed, including umbrella that we’re allowed to borrow which was perfect for the rainy weekend we experienced in Lake District. It has kettle, tea and coffee, biscuits, hair dryer, coat hanger, etc. There’s dedicated gated parking as well few blocks away. The breakfast choices were good and they were delicious. The entire property is maintained clean, tidy and full of character. It felt being in your own home. The owners made us feel very welcome and they’re very friendly.

Nothing major but more of nice to have: - the room is bit small relative to other BnB I have booked before which is suitable for short trips but maybe a concern for those who have massive suitcases. - the rooms are not automatically cleaned everyday; it didn’t bother us as we tried to keep the room clean/tidy. I am sure they’ll clean if you ask but only if necessary. - the supplies of coffee and tea are available on request and should be done in the morning. I didn’t know that as I misunderstood that all request can be made before 7pm cutoff time (I made the request at 630pm).

We are a couple an found this a perfect stay. One of the best guest houses we have ever stayed in (having just come back from 12 months of travelling the world). The owners of this property Steve and Caz go above and beyond to make your stay the best possible and will do anything for you. The breakfast is very generous and soooo many choices . Considering it’s just the two of them waiting on and cooking and cleaning too, they run the whole place 10/10. Very clean and kept well with high standards. Instructions and expectations are explained during check in. Breakfast is chosen (by 8pm) the night before and handed in on a slip of paper and is served between 830-915. Parking is included within the room price and is a 1 min walk away in a secure car park. Your room is like your bedroom and service isn’t provided during stay unless you ask for it, anything you need Steve and Caz will do their best to accommodate. Would definitely return, we felt so welcomed.

We enjoyed a superb stay at Hillsdale B&B. We were in a king-bed room on the top floor with lovely views over the slate rooftops of the town. Our en suite room was very clean and cozy. We both slept very well in the bed. The bathroom was compact but perfectly adequate with large fluffy towels, a great shower and large mirror. It also had a small night light, meaning we didn't need to switch the main light/fan on, which is a great idea! Breakfast was astounding with a wide variety of options, including cereals, pastries, yoghurt, and one of, if not the best cooked breakfast I've ever had, wonderfully cooked using quality ingredients. And you get to pick what you have on the plate. Amazing. Steve, and Caz were wonderful hosts, providing tips on where to eat, public transport and even helped me arrange flowers for my wife, which were in the room on arrival. Thank you for a wonderful stay. You will see us again!

This was a lovely venue in the heart of Ambleside. The room was spotlessly clean and very nicely decorated. The bed was really comfortable and we had a great nights sleep. The breakfast was superb with lots of choice, the weather was raining cats and dogs, but the hosts had this covered as there was a number of umbrellas for the guests to use. I would definitely recommend a visit to this b&b, and we will return when the weather improves in the summer.

The weather, but that couldn't be helped other than that I had no complaints

Hillsdale was an excellent B&B, situated in the heart of Ambleside and walking distance from restaurants and shops. Our room was clean, tastefully decorated and included helpful extras including toiletries and tea/coffee. Excellent choice and fabulous breakfast cooked by Caz and served by Steve in the delightful breakfast room. Free nearby parking was a big benefit. We would definitely stay again.

No real complaints. Room was quite small and so we wouldn't want to stay more than a couple of nights, but it was perfect for a short stay.
