well situated just out of bath especially if you hire a car which I did. as it has parking and not to expensive compared to other hotels in the area. breakfast really good and you can choose what you want and then they go and make it for you. it’s a nice touch. they also make you a coffee and the standard is really good. we had dinner there like five times. menu a bit limited but everything I had was just delicious to eat so I was happy. to the young man that looks after dinner I forgot his name but he was exceptionally good at what he does, he will know who he is. just a very pleasant man and customer service still matters. had a great 8 day stay at hotel.

I didn’t not like the property in anyway, but due to hotel in an old property it does not have any air conditioning which the hotel told us about. for our trip it was not an issue in may. but could see would be in the height of summer. also with the uk summers getting hotter it could be an issue for the hotel. just a suggestion.

Breakfast was good.

We had 4 evening dinners which were very good. However, for 2 dinners we had to ask several times for our drinks. One of the dinners, the drinks came after the starters so the starters had to go back to the kitchen. We had specifically requested a bath tub both with booking.com and also with the hotel. On arrival our room was small with only a shower. We asked to change rooms but none available. However, we were able to change rooms the next day. Room much nicer and a bath tub! It shouldn’t have happened in the first place . That wasn’t a very good start. The 2nd room was spotless.

Table service to order hot drinks and food (cold drinks and toast was serve yourself). A very tasty breakfast with a good amount of choice. Freshly prepared and brought to our table. The car park felt secure with CCTV overseeing it. We ate at the hotel every evening (having spent a day out it was good to know that we could eat at the hotel and not have to go out searching). The menu was fairly limited but was well cooked, but after three nights, we had tried all the choices that we were interested to try.

A lot of stairs (ups and downs) to get to our different rooms. The radio playing at breakfast was not necessary.

It was a lovely, quiet hotel, with character. The room was fine, the rooms are old as we had been told before we came, and without AC but the fans in the room were sufficient to keep it cool. We were at the front of the hotel, so had a lovely view down the valley into the town. The fresh tea/coffee/biscuits each day were welcome. And I loved the library.

We have nothing bad to say about the hotel, just to be aware that it is up quite a steep hill (we had been forewarned of this) but was not a problem to us. If any guests were not as fit as us, they would have had to use the bus or taxi to get into town.

LOVED THE GORGEOUS Dining Room and the fact there is a CHEF — very attentive wait staff!!!!!!! All staff from reception to wait staff were not only beautifully dressed (professional), courteous and warm — the staff generally looked far more well turned out sartorially than guests (it was distressing how NOT dressed up most guests were as they ate in the stunning dining room — but I guess hotel cannot 'teach' vacationers to spruce up a bit). The LOVELY GARDEN upon which this fun hotel is sited was wonderful for a quiet read and snack — the magnificent tree at garden edge leant so much character and charm.

Mattress could have been more comfortable — a bit rigid. Also Bathroom a bit underwhelming in terms of plainess. But the staff much made up for the small and low-ceiling room (and thankfully I had a view of the STUNNING large tree across from the room. Thanks.

The Staff were very helpful and kind. The garden is a treat to sit in - we were lucky with the weather. The decor is muted, comfortable and relaxing. The hotel was spotlessly clean in all areas and the bed linen and towels are luxurious.

The location could have been better described. The walk from town is a steep uphill climb and that wasn't clear to those who aren't familiar with Bath. There was no view from our room. The breakfast was OK but we both felt that there could have been a better variety of food on offer and definitely more fruit. The evening menu similarly was quite limited. More salad options would have been good.

The room was lovely, beds comfortable, tea and coffee making facilities were good. Nice to have biscuits, too. Bonus having a fridge. Bathroom and toiletries very nice, shower was lovely and hot. Fans provided by the beds were great and needed even though it wasn't particularly warm on the days we were there, the room always seemed very warm.we were on the 1st floor overlooking the flat roof of the restaurant.

One window was broken so couldn't be opened and room was rather hot. We went down to the bar one evening and it took over 40 minutes to be served a drink, I think the restaurant was busy but I went back once to ask and bar man said it would be coming and then another guest who we were chatting too also went to ask on our behalf because he could not believe it was taking so long.

Breakfast was lovely, and we received an upgrade to a different room which was outstanding, a beautiful balcony, great blackout curtains and a fantastic bed, with fridges in all rooms too which is excellent. Fans were available to help control temperature, the facilities are well maintained, and parking is available on site. Lovely grounds. All staff were lovely and accommodating, rooms clean.

We were given a complimentary upgrade after having a challenging night in a small room by the road, be wary of these rooms, beds are very tight as is the room itself. Bar is a little expensive. Up a challenging hill which some might find difficult to ascend.

Excellent location with good views over the city, attentive staff and a large well presented room. breakfast offered a good choice of hot and cold dishes. Secure Parking was available on site but had a extra daily charge, which offered good value for money. Beautiful elevated position with stunning views of the City.

The room did have some minor paint chips and few minor stains on the curtains and flooring close to the drinks making facilities. some minor maintenance is required but nothing to the detraction of an exceptional stay. The hotel benefited from an elevated position overlooking bath however walking up a 11% gradient hill was a little tasking.

I drove to the hotel and it was really easy to find, with parking clearly marked. There seems to be very little parking, and I did read it is on a first come, first serve basis. I got there quite a lot earlier than my check in of 4pm as I wanted to explore with only being there for one night. The lovely reception staff still checked if my room was ready to check in, even though I knew it wouldn't be and was okay with that. I was talked through having to enter my registration plate into the iPad at reception too.

Upon entering my room I realised it was quite noisy as it was right on the road, and the room was quite small for the price I had paid. I went back to reception and asked if there was any chance at all for a less noisy room. This was arranged without any hassle, and the room I was then given was much quieter, had better views and was bigger - more suited to the price I had paid. Also, the plug didn't work in my bath - it was a "pop up" plug and it didn't stay down when pressing it. I told reception the day after when I was checking out and they said they would look into fixing this.
