I had the pleasure of staying at Bankton House in Livingston for two nights during Easter and the whole experience was nothing short of amazing. The room was a delightful blend of the past and present. It felt as if I had stepped back in time, yet with all the modern amenities at my disposal. The bathroom was spotless and appeared to be newly renovated, adding to the overall comfort of my stay. One of the highlights was the Nespresso machine in the room. As a coffee lover, this was a much-appreciated touch. It added a sense of luxury to my mornings and was a perfect start to my day. The location of Bankton House proved to be convenient for my travels. It was easy to commute to Edinburgh, making it an ideal base for exploring the surrounding areas. In conclusion, my stay at Bankton House was memorable. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and unique stay in Livingston.

Nothing, everything was above expectations

Bankton House Hotel in Livingston offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere with a cozy setting that's perfect for a relaxing stay. The staff is incredibly friendly and always ready to assist, making you feel right at home. The on-site restaurant serves delicious meals, and the pub is a great spot to unwind.

However, reintroducing breakfast would be a great addition, giving guests an even more complete and convenient experience.

The Bankton House was full of charm and charisma...the exact type of place we hoped to end our holiday. We were warmly welcomed upon arrival and had only positive interactions with all staff. We didn't care to eat anywhere else, the food and drinks here were fantastic!!! Lots of options, great areas to sit and eat. The hotel attracts many locals who come and hang outside ordering pizzas and drinks. The rooms were comfortable and again, quaint! We felt like we were at home the entire time. Heads up, check out the walking trails, they lead to an amazing bridge and the coolest playground I've ever seen! Highly recommend!!!!

Check-in was extremely straight forward and the woman who assisted us was very friendly. We stayed in Bankton House for 2 nights and due to attending a wedding did not eat in the bistro but other guests in our party said it was really nice. The bar area was perfect and with the nice weather it was lovely to sit outside. We knew before booking that there was no breakfast option for each morning. We didn't mind this at all, as we had tea making facilities in our room and brought our own porridge and cereal bars. Checking out was again straight forward. If we find ourselves in that neck of the woods again we'd definitely re-book.

We were able to hear the guests next door each time they turned on the lights/fan in the bathroom. We were out most of the day so it didn't affect how much we enjoyed the stay but it may bother some guests.

Great service - Renata was very responsive to our requests- nothing was a trouble. The hotel is small and personal - like a home away from home, very quiet and surrounded by parkland with a great selection of woodland walks. Bankton House is very close to the railway station with regular trains to Edinburgh and Glasgow - very convenient as we were attending the Edinburgh Festival.

No bar fridge in the room but apparently this is in the process of being remedied, with new bar fridges shortly to be installed in all the rooms.

the location was perfect for me walks & cycle paths everywhere through woods & open spaces..plus train station all on the door step. Good coffee maker in bedroom & a fridge available if required. Very relaxed pleasant atmosphere to hotel

Enjoyed the evening meal and entertainment. Comfy beds and lovely shower.

The coffee machine, not sure how to use it and would have preferred a kettle to be able to refresh the water. Continental breakfast that couldn't be eaten in the hotel.

Beautiful period property in nice surrounding gardens. Cosy bistro with nice food and good 60s music. The room was clean with comfy beds. It was very comfortable and I had a great sleep.

The rooms are a bit dated, kind of like staying at your grannies. The hotel could do with a wee bit of modernisation whilst maintaining the character of the building. There was no breakfast service which was a bit disappointing. Also, if you are a solo guest it’s worth mentioning that the staff leave at night, it’s all secure but there isn’t anyone on hand.

Beautiful property, very comfortable rooms, nice touches including a Nespresso machine. Easy instruction to access the property and your room for the self checkin. Would highly recommend if in you are the area.

The WiFi only worked on a rare occasion which made it difficult to search for directions to attractions and local info like parking in Edinburgh.

The location is lovely and located in a very quiet area, with a relaxing garden and squirrels passing by. I order a couple of desserts for breakfast and were very tasty. It is very easy to reach from Livingston South train station, just a couple of minutes walking and 20mins from Edinburgh.

I found it absurd that the hotel demands to write down all card details, including the security code (!) on a random paper. It was asked after already paying and confirming via Booking, and after inquiring with the Booking assistance I was told it was not required and the Hotel had been informed. I nevertheless tried to do so through the hotel website but the hotel rejected the security deposit (mentioning a card number that was not mine) and stopped asking once I contacted the assistance. Still, once arrived at the property, it was demanded as a mandatory step. Banks would hardly allow a payment with only those codes, but never have I been asked to write down my security number.
