We felt so lucky for choosing the Court Residence. I had never heard of Linlithgow until I was looking for someplace close to Edinburgh (but not too close), and then we found the Court Residence, and it ticked all the boxes for us (kitchen facilities, parking, great reviews, in our price range). If you are considering it for the same reasons...you will not go wrong if you book it. Bedding is super comfortable. It is within walking distance of a supermarket, very safe area and a great fish and chips place nearby. The town of Linlithgow is adorable but also the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots! And if you are an Outlander fan, we found out that much of the first season was filmed there. The host Jim was very nice and welcoming. I hope we can stay again!

Convenient walking distance to so many things (including the Linlithgow Palace, so remember that while you’re staying there. It’s right there within a couple blocks.) Free parking on site. Kitchenette fully stocked. Friendly and knowledgeable staff.  Very comfortable bed. Overall a wonderful place to stay in the area.

Nothing about the property, but I did arrive on a Monday early evening, and many of the restaurants, cafés, and shops are closed on Mondays. Then, the next day, Tuesday, I found many of the shops and cafés close around four or five, so keep that in mind. 

Our ‘room’ was on three levels and felt more like an apartment. Bathroom was modern and the shower was fantastic. Kitchenette was stocked with breakfast supplies and had a seating area with tv, sofa and table to eat at. Downstairs was the main bedroom. So comfy! Owner was welcoming and helpful. Location was fantastic - straight across from Linlithgow Palace on the Main Street of the town and close to everything. The hotel is in an old courthouse building and has lots of character, and also private parking.

Our stay was too short! We would have liked to stay longer.

Amazing repurposing of old court house with very high quality furnishing and appointments. In the centre of Linlithgow with secured parking outside the front door. Very helpful reception. Beds enormous and supplied food way beyond what you'd expect.

Looks like my room was part of the courthouse cells - full of character but only the door for ventilation. Luckily it wasnt too hot, but do check the room out beforehand if this is likely to be an issue for you. Also, despite its class and style, its not cheap.

Superb setting with as promised very central location in the centre of all that Linlithgow has to offer, extremely professional and welcoming staff who did everything to make my stay just brilliant, on-site private parking without any issues during my stay, Breakfast basket replenished every day and the house-keeping team coming every day to continue the immaculately clean and well kept studio accommodation. Just a final thank you to Hazel and Jim great work for looking after my stay well done I shall return to stay if you are not fully booked.

Zero was only disappointed that i had to leave and couldn't stay longer. I will return soon hopefully.

Comfortable room with kitchen area - the wording „suite“ actually is misleading - it was simply a one—room apartment.

Lochtest next to the Main-Road // That we booked an apartment with two rooms and we were told we got what we booked: I assume the Booking.com selection from the owner is not sufficiently clear and the guests should not be the ones who should „suffer“ from a description which is misleading…

It's great location very close to the railway station. We took a train to Edinburgh for a sightseeing. It's perfect solution if you are traveling by car and don't want to drive into the city center. The parking was free at the hotel and we didn't had problem with finding a free parking place. There is also Tesco nearby and a few restaurants. We had fridge in the room which was very helpful.

I don't think that on the Booking is any information about the type of breakfast that this hotel is serving. And that's a shame, because it would have been very useful for us. They don't serve fresh breakfast, instead we got some corn flakes, toast bread, jams, fruits and juices. Unfortunately they didn't provide us with milk, any fresh vegetables, cheese or ham. We asked for a milk for coffee and corn flakes for the second day.

The executive suite was large and well laid out: the furniture unit at the foot of the bed, with a large mirror/TV assembly on top, helped give different ares of the room the feel of a lounge, dining area and bedroom. The ceiling was high, helping to give the room a spacious feel. Generous supplies in the fridge and kitchen area allowed us to have an excellent breakfast.

The microwave was on the fritz and pinged for a while during the night.

This is a beautiful hotel, a must stay! Clean, comfortable, lovely rooms and the shower.. wow! Lovely quiet hotel. We stayed in suite 18, bed up on the mezzanine. The room was well equipped, you could easily live here with the great sized fridge, dishwasher, breakfast basket with milk and fruit juice in the fridge. Iron and ironboard and lovely comfy dressing gowns.

Not a thing.

The room was comfortable, the house staff were efficient, approachable and friendly. The location is ideal for visiting local attractions and easy, quick train journey into Edinburgh. The town is well served with shops and eateries.

Personally, I found the bath and overhead shower a bit of a challenge. The sunken bath was difficult to step up from when the bath surface was wet, with nothing to hold on to. Having the water controls at the opposite end to the shower itself, was awkward. I bought a non slip mat to give me more confidence in moving around.
