The place was lovely, I requested a quiet room and I'd have picked that exact one for its location so thank you!! Restaurant staff and food etc fab too, thank you!

Sadly one front desk staff member may be better suited as a GP receptionist rather than the hospitality sector (not that a lack of charm is right there)....I feel bad for commenting but it really was unpleasant when you're excited for a nice stay and to be treated with a tone and manner making you feel like an inconvenience. The other staff were all smiley and helpful and I'm sorry if this individual was just having a bad day but first impressions are so important and I'd want to know if it was my business.

Venue was fab, room was lovely, staff all very lovely and food was excellent

I would have expected breakfast to be included the rate that we paid, and a nicer shower/bath

The Kingfisher is in a very smartly decorated old building, and its restaurant has beautiful views of the river. We had a twin room with comfy beds, and also comfortable armchairs for both of us, which is unusual. Very glad of the fan in the summer heatwave. Dinner was well cooked and very generous portions, and the waiting staff were very efficient.

The shower door did not seal properly and water sprayed out over the bathroom floor, making it dangerously slippery. All hotels seem to keep winter weight duvets on the beds all year round, but I really wish they would provide summer weight duvets in summer, especially in a heatwave!

Some dishes, the Staff are terrific and helpful. The River and the grounds are a big bonus. Most important, the toilets are kept very clean and presentable. Well done.

What I hated was the idea of sharing with the DOGS a four star ✨✨✨✨ restaurant. It made us think twice and yet for years it has been our favourite place in Bedford, to eat and bring our visitors. The Rooms could do with paying attention when cleaning in the corners. The carpet around the corners was a disappointment. But most disappointing was the Dogs.

Bed was extremely comfortable and huge wasn’t noisy at night grounds are well kept restaurant decor nice and over looking river food was ok not terrible not amazing starters came in ramekin bowls which were like little dog bowls with no garnish could have been presented a bit better for sharing breakfast was very good , would come again just for a good nights sleep and would recommend

Staff inside restaurant are a bit all over the place no one could quite decide if we could sit outside or not

Excellent suite. Had a lovely 3 night stay with our small dog, to find a hotel where a dog has full access was brilliant. The dinners and breakfast were excellent and the restaurant and reception staff were very attentive.

We were with friends in the bar area and it would have been nice if someone had come over to explain that they would be closing soon and asking if we would have liked another drink, rather than being told sorry bar & coffee machine is closed.

Excellent room. Chilli beef to die for and the maintenance staff. On arrival found hotel grounds and car parks flooded. Unease saved by the friendly maintenance man who assured us this was a one off event and made us welcome throughout our stay.

Initially trying to find it appeared to be on an industrial estate, not what the photos appear to believe. Bar staff need to be taught that fingers don’t go inside the glass or anywhere near the rim as witnessed on 2 occasions while having dinner on the Monday night.

A traditional riverside hotel with a contemporary feel. The beds were super comfy and the food was varied well presented and tasty. A lovely place to relax.

Only minor frustrations due to them being very busy such as half an hour wait for coffees which were near cold when they arrived. Didn’t complain as everything else was good.

Myself and my partner have visited this hotel regularly for the last 3 or 4 years and in that time we've stayed at the kingfisher between 20-30 times and it's definitely up there with the best hotels that we've visited the staff are always very friendly and welcoming towards us and our American akita Busta..🐶. It's a beautiful building inside and out and the beds are unbelievably comfortable. The perfect place to go to relax and feel at ease...

Twice on separate visits to the hotel after checking into my room somebody else let themselves in with a key as the receptionist had double booked my room otherwise love the place

I had dinner, which was nicely presented, and I paid for my meal at the time. Dining room and bar staff were very good. The receptionist when I checked in was good. However, the receptionist when I checked out was underwhelming. During the night an invoice for the dining room for two people was slipped under my door. This was an error, which was acknowledged by the receptionist. She wasn’t sure how to sort it out and asked a manager. She was still having a problem when the duty manager popped into reception, but he wasn’t interested. Eventually, the invoice was deleted from my account, but I felt the apology was begrudgingly given. If I’m honest, I felt I was a nuisance.

I put what I didn’t like in the above with what I liked. Not sure, I liked the music on the terrace by the river, but as it was the pub side ……
