Large, clean, well furnished en suite bedroom. Cupboard with automatic light with the kettle, tea, coffee and biscuits. Little fridge with small milk and room for our own food. Room 3 with firm twin beds and single duvets. Blackout curtains. Large, clean shower room. Sumptuous carpet and towels. Lovely friendly pub downstairs. Quiet with window closed in January. Secure entrances into pub or onto street. Food available very nearby including breakfast oatcakes and Spoons! Biddulph is definitely worth a weekend or midweek break and this place is right in the middle (some shops closed on Wednesdays).

Flight of stairs up to rooms are slightly steep and narrow. Ok for us in our 50s but may be difficult for less mobile. Mattress toppers would be welcome and larger duvets. Will definitely stay again.

Absolutely great! Comfy room on the first floor of an excellent pub. Big comfy bed, soft pillows. Spacious shower room, fluffy towels. Staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. Small carpark with free parking. Tea/coffee facilities (with fridge!), and fresh milk was provided, which was very welcome!!

The stairs are a bit steep - although not a problem as it's a single flight of stairs. No food available - but plenty of places to eat locally, both for breakfast and later in the day. So everything was great, thanks!!

Staff friendly room very good

When we arrived the owner/ manager told us that there was going to be a live band. He said it would finish at 11 and we wouldn’t really hear it. Wrong. It went on past 11 and was so noisy. Also we had a fire alarm we got down the stairs and the band was still playing they hadn’t heard it. Luckily it was a false alarm. Next morning he apologised for the alarm and hope the band was ok we said no and he should have told us before we came about the live music. If we had known we would have cancelled.

This is a well situated, friendly pub with excellent rooms. The rooms are large, modern, clean and well stocked. Very large bathroom with lots of large towels. It was quiet, despite being in town centre. There was parking.

We hadn't realised there was no food available at the pub. In the end it didn't matter too much. There was a great Indian restaurant about 200 yards away. No breakfast was more of a problem - although very good tea and coffee making facilities. Lots of pubs we stay at do provide a small continental breakfast in a bag, not sure if the Royal Oak had thought of that. Very steep stairs to first floor - take small overnight bag

Breakfast was not on offer but you had a beverage tray in the room. The greeting was good and the guide around the building was helpful. The stairs up to the rooms are somewhat steep but the decor -old with modern/layout of the room and bathroom was beautiful. It was only weeks/months completed and the workmanship was excellent. The bed comfortable, fresh and clean. Extremely pleasant. Rating would have been 10 with Breakfast option.

Unfortunately they don't do breakfast which is/was somewhat of an inconvenience. We did suggest an alternative option for them. Just to offer small - continental breakfast or join up with the local Oatcake shop and offer the local Staffordshire delicacy. Finding breakfast in Sainsbury's didnt quite fit the beautiful time and effort put into the rooms and atmosphere of the pub.

We really enjoyed our stay in The Royal Oak - Steve the Landlord was extremely friendly and welcoming. We used this as a base for travelling to Alton Towers, which was only about a 40 minute drive away, so a great location. Our room was decorated lovely, bathroom was gorgeous and spacious (possibly one of the best we've stayed in). A lovely complimentary tea/coffee tray plus hot chocolate with good quality stock as well as a mini fridge. The bar downstairs was also lovely decorated and was very reasonably priced. We were able to see a bit of Live Music on the Friday night which was great as well. Would definitely stay here again!

Only downfall was that the Fire Alarm went off at 2:30am and didn't stop until around 3:30am (This was just unfortunate though and nobody's fault) The Landlord was very apologetic about it. Only recommendation would be to maybe provide an out of hours contact number for B and B guests to use as we didn't know what to do. We didn't get any milk with our tea tray (I'm not sure if you're supposed to though, so this may be nothing!) I'm sure if we had asked the lovely staff they could have told us/provided some but this wasn't an issue for us :)

This is only the second time that I have stayed in the Royal Oak but I was welcomed by Steve and his staff as though I was a regular. They remembered the reason for my last stay and were genuinely interested in me as a person. The rooms are clean and well-appointed. The choice of beers at the bar was fantastic. I will definitely stay at the Royal Oak whenever I am in the area.

If they did food, all the better but I knew that they don't and there are plenty of options very near the hotel.

When we arrived we discovered after a 3 hour drive that the car park was not available due to England game .I feel it would have been courteous if someone had sent a message to that effect as we spent extra time looking for parking. It is one thing I always check when booking accommodation. Despite this the staff were very nice and rooms very comfortable

We have stayed previously at the Royal Oak and enjoyed the same high standard of accommodation as before. The room was spotless with a large comfy bed and an immaculate bathroom with a great shower. There was a refrigerator in the room with fresh milk provided on request .We enjoyed a couple of drinks in the lounge bar which is frequented by friendly locals. The premises have a small car park. Accommodation is offered on a room only basis however there are several nearby restaurants. Staff are first class very friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed our stay, would recommend and look forward to returning.

There was nothing we did not like.

Really lovely hotel. Staff were really friendly, room was spotlessly clean and so cosy and charming. Location was really easy to find and a small car park next to the pub. They don’t do food but I was aware of this when I booked anyway, but there is a small fridge in the room so was able to keep a few things in there. Also was told that I was more than welcome to order takeaway and get it delivered to the bar downstairs! There is separate locked door to the side of the property with a locked gate to access this, to use when the pub was closed. It was really well lit and very easy to use. Plenty of tea and coffee tucked away in a little cupboard with the mini fridge - and they had hot chocolate too which is another nice little touch!

The only thing, and it really wasn’t a big issue at all, there was no full length mirror. I was staying there while attending a wedding nearby and couldn’t check that my dress looked alright! But as I said, really not a big deal and there really wasn’t anything I didn’t like! The staircase is quite narrow and steep - wasn’t a problem but just to mention for others to be aware of.
