The room and bathroom were both exceptionally clean. The beds were really comfortable, tea & coffee making facilities, and complimentary toiletries available. We didn't have breakfast but we did eat one night in the restaurant. The food was lovely, service was great and reasonably priced. Very busy, so you do need to book to avoid disappointment. Lovely little beer garden to enjoy a chilled glass of something in the sun. All the staff we met were friendly and helpful. The pub is in a great location with plenty of onsite free parking. There was a wedding on one of the nights we stayed but it didn't affect our stay and we hardly heard any noise from the entertainment.
If there was one negative and it is only one. The sound proofing for the room above wasn't great. I expect to hear some movement and even muffled voices if people are loud but we could hear everything!! It didn't spoil our stay at all but it was a little uncomfortable at times.

Ale was very good at the bar, choice of 4. Room was comfortable, ground floor, clean, tidy and had everything needed for a one night stay. Warm, comfortable etc. 3 Faults with the room which previous lazy occupants hadnt bothered to report which the owners would not be aware of. Reported to reception male staff when Ieft the next morning. (1) plug in hand basin wasnt functioning so water continually escaped when plug was in. (2) bedside light flickering constantly when on. (3) toilet seat lid mechanism broken so that lid falls on occupants back when sitting on the toilet.
Evening dining service staff need to be more observant. I was escorted through to the dining area by one member of staff and given a menu to choose from. I chose and waited for someone to take my order. I waited 28 minutes. The waitress said because I was reading a large landscape newspaper at my table, she didn't realise I was waiting to order or wanted to eat. I cannot comprehend why an open newspaper would prevent a food order being taken ? It isn't bad manners to read a newspaper when dining alone. This all took place at 7pm on a Monday evening when it was not overly busy.

The property was conveniently located to where I needed to go for an interview, hence the reason I booked this place and it was recommended to me. The room and bathroom were extremely clean, it felt cosy and the bed was comfortable. The restaurants food was simply divine. The only let down during my stay was the fact that they had no heating or hot water due to running out of oil in the oil tank that they rely on. Yes I was provided with a fan heater however a hot shower/bath would have been nice to have in the morning before checking out ready to attend an interview. A simple gesture of good will, such as offering something small for breakfast would have gone a long way.
Nothing wrong with the property at all.

Dinner was superb in the restaurant and breakfast was equally superb. All the staff here are young and enthusiastic very well trained and well-behaved. The management are equally efficient and helpful. I would not hesitate in recommending that you stay here if you are in the Congleton/Macclesfield area. The plain is steeped in history and the management are always willing to explain the origin of the building et cetera. I'm looking forward to the next time I'm in that area so I can stay at the plough and enjoy superb food and service.
There was nothing to not like about the plough, if anything it's probably not too far away from refurbishing some of the rooms but they are very comfortable and cosy.

Plough Inn, an attractive and 'comfortable' old inn in a peaceful countryside area (just what an English country pub should be like) was easy to find with plenty of parking. Staff very welcoming and friendly. Rates reasonable as were dining prices. Food excellent, waiting staff attentive and drinks, especially local beers, nicely priced. Would recommend anytime!
A small gripe but in the room we were in the wall adjoining the next room seemed to too easily transmit noise from next-door, especially door banging. Didn't spoil our visit at all and I had to think hard here about any downside.

All the glowing reviews are justified - this is an outstanding place to stay: the pub is housed in a beautiful old building with comfortable bedrooms across the courtyard, friendly helpful staff for whom nothing is too much trouble, delicious food served with a smile - both our breakfast and evening meal were of an exceptionally high standard - and the stunning conservatory is a pleasure to eat in. We couldn't fault it and will certainly be returning.
Mixer taps in the bedroom washbasins would be helpful - but that's a very trivial issue which didn't detract in any way from the enjoyment of our stay

Friendly staff, comfortable room, good value for money. Tasty pub food, extremely generous portions ( in fact we could not eat any breakfast next day - although it sounded good- as the portions at dinner were so big). Would stay here again.
The sound insulation between the rooms was poor so at night the noise of people walking about , or even sneezing, on the floor above was very noticeable. No hairdryer in the room. Road alongside the hotel is pretty busy so if you sleep with the window open there is quite a lot of traffic noise, which we didn’t mind, but it might bother some people.

Everything. Thank you to the housekeeping staff for such beautifully well stocked immaculate rooms. I could literally live there and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you to Sabrina and the team on reception for finding me another room when the key wouldn't open the door. Finally thank you to Max, the waiting staff and chefs. Breakfast was exceptional even when I turned up after my night shift 2 minutes before breakfast closing. The food is amazing, plenty of choice and delicious. I will be back again in a few weeks when working my nightshift nearby. 10/10. Linda
TV wasn't working in this room as no signal but no ones fault, just no signal in the area sometimes.

Good value room, which was large and comfortable, and great, very reasonably priced pub grub. Staff welcoming and friendly. Our third stay here and it is always good.
Particularly noisy wedding going on - unexpected for a Monday night - although in fairness the Plough does mention that it is an all week venue and some noise could be expected. More road noise than usual as well so will remember to ask for a room further away from the main road for our next stay!

Stayed over on a trip back to East England from Chester to meet up with family. Had two rooms and stayed for a meal. Meal was delicious and rooms were great, comfortable and quiet - separate from pub. Staff were great at every interaction. Didn't have breakfast. There were no events on, so I can't comment on the impact of noise, in case that is a concern. We all loved it and will book again when next visiting. Thank you.
