All the glowing reviews are justified - this is an outstanding place to stay: the pub is housed in a beautiful old building with comfortable bedrooms across the courtyard, friendly helpful staff for whom nothing is too much trouble, delicious food served with a smile - both our breakfast and evening meal were of an exceptionally high standard - and the stunning conservatory is a pleasure to eat in. We couldn't fault it and will certainly be returning.

Mixer taps in the bedroom washbasins would be helpful - but that's a very trivial issue which didn't detract in any way from the enjoyment of our stay

Friendly staff, comfortable room, good value for money. Tasty pub food, extremely generous portions ( in fact we could not eat any breakfast next day - although it sounded good- as the portions at dinner were so big). Would stay here again.

The sound insulation between the rooms was poor so at night the noise of people walking about , or even sneezing, on the floor above was very noticeable. No hairdryer in the room. Road alongside the hotel is pretty busy so if you sleep with the window open there is quite a lot of traffic noise, which we didn’t mind, but it might bother some people.

Everything. Thank you to the housekeeping staff for such beautifully well stocked immaculate rooms. I could literally live there and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you to Sabrina and the team on reception for finding me another room when the key wouldn't open the door. Finally thank you to Max, the waiting staff and chefs. Breakfast was exceptional even when I turned up after my night shift 2 minutes before breakfast closing. The food is amazing, plenty of choice and delicious. I will be back again in a few weeks when working my nightshift nearby. 10/10. Linda

TV wasn't working in this room as no signal but no ones fault, just no signal in the area sometimes.

Stayed one night as a stop over on my way back to Scotland from down south. The room and ensuite were very spacious. The bed was comfortable and everything was very clean. I had dinner sitting in the sun in the beer garden and the food was very good. Breakfast very good too. The staff were very friendly attentive and helpful even though they were very busy serving a wedding reception. Accommodation and food were both reasonably priced. I would definitely stay again.

The Plough far exceeded our expectations. We were expecting a country pub and got a modern well run pub/restaurant with very friendly and helpful staff, extremely good, tasty food and a well furnished modern residential block housing the rooms which were spacious and had a lovely big bed. The food is freshly cooked, including the breakfast, and you can tell it is. We will definitely be coming back and adjusting our travel arrangements to stay a few more nights.

Nothing, it was perfect.

Our second stay and everything still great, lovely evening meal, great breakfast, comfy bed like sleeping on a cloud.

Only slight issue was with man upstairs very noisy banging doors and woke up in middle of night to hear him snoring loudly, obviously nothing to do with the proprietors, also a rather abrupt waitress who when we placed our meal order, answered "is that it" I'm sure it wasn't meant to come across the way it came, but maybe polish up the people skills, 😂

10/10 breakfast choices amazing service fantastic friendly helpful at all times. Food was so well presented tasty. The orangery room beautiful for breakfast .. calming comfortable , overlooking the garden so pretty. The pub was fantastic in the evening, choices of beers ales etc.. well priced too. We are going to go again soon. loved it.

Having more days to stay would have been better for us both.

Dinner and breakfast were excellent. Tasty, freshly cooked and all ingredients were of very good quality, could not fault anything. Friendly, efficient service and did not have to wait too long considering it was cooked to order. Cleanliness was good, nice towels, linen and toiletries, also, a good tea tray, when certain supplies ran out, staff were quick to replenish them and brought them to our room immediately.

The room was very dark and oppressive even with the main lights on, probably due to the amount of foliage (rose bush) which almost covered the whole window. A light above or near the dressing table/desk mirror is also a must. A longer stay would definitely require more hangers in the wardrobe. The bed was very uncomfortable, sank in the middle if you happened to move and the mattress made strange noises!!!

I was really impressed by the breakfast service. The staff were diligent, efficient, and very thorough. You always know when you're dealing with experienced staff when they don't have to write anything down. I'm pleased that there were sensible vegetarian and gluten free options available.

The menu said "continental breakfast" available. However, that really only meant cereal, toast and a fruit bowl. That could have been more creative.

Lovely area gorgeous rooms which are separate to the pub .. food lovely staff are friendly and poliet and the conservatory is a great addition to the back.

The time we stayed there was a wedding on which we didn't know until we got there was a little rowdy and busy with kids running around outside ... would have been nice to have received an email to state there would be an event happening as ideally we was looking for a quite stay but I get this isn't a thing that happens. All in all though it didnt cause too much disruption to our stay, especially as the rooms are seperate to the pub... have stayed here before ... would definitely recommend
