I don't eat meat or fish or drink tea or coffee usually. Organic peppermint available. Breakfast included oats with dried fruits and nut. Eggs, vegetarian ,and fresh fruit. Brown bread. So lots of healthy options for me. Room had kettle and small tray for cups or plate. And larger tray for kettle and any cold food I bought. Able to recycle to staff. (Soft plastics taken to Morrisons which is virtually opposite.) Easily accessible to the airport by train and also to Sutton Coldfield or Dudley which were places I visited during my stay. Large green area at the hotel, plus terrace to sit out. Bar with friendly helpful staff. Do not disturb notice for the room door. Card entrance felt safe Had bath and shower ensuite. Comfortable bed, good lighting system in the bedroom,. The area is interesting, multi cultural, which I like.

Traffic on Hagley Road and some building work a, although this is only in working hours. Traffic is improving with the Metro and there are a number of traffic lights. Less glass high rise would be great, however you can avoid these by heading away from the City centre , where the area is tree lined, with some lovely old buildings, including pubs.

Great central location just outside of the clean air zone and easy to find by car and Sat Nav. A large curiously arranged hotel with winding corridors linking original parts to more modern extensions. Lovely large rooms, great breakfast and fantastic service. All the staff were friendly and helpful and particularly Emma on reception who was outstanding in her support and service. Right next door to Birmingham oratory so great too, if like me, you will appreciate going to a beautiful mass in the church too.

There were lots of creaky steps and it was a bit confusing finding the room. The parking was extra and expensive, but safe and convenient.

This old hotel will benefit from being near the new tram terminus and the new Edgbaston village centre. Our room was exceptionally spacious and quiet, with more storage space than I have ever seen in a hotel room before. The highlight was the scrambled egg for breakfast, freshly cooked for me, the best I have had for many a year.

We paid nearly £90 per night and so were not overly happy on the day we arrived to see rooms being offered for £62.50. This is more a problem with booking com than the hotel, but such fluctuating pricing is not appreciated. Also I feel room descriptions should point out when a shower is inside a bath, as less able people may have difficulty climbing in and out.

Staff were incredible, the hotel can be a bit confusing finding rooms at first because it has been extended, so we were shown the way to our room, even insisted on carrying my bag. Staff were excellent with my child. The room was spacious and comfortable, free tea and coffee with a note to ring/text to reception if we ran out of anything. Didn't hear much noise from other rooms or from outside the hotel. I think most rooms face the garden so the corridors take any traffic noise. Breakfast had a lot of variety.

I really would be nit-picking to say that the TV channels didn't quite match-up with the menu in the guest book, but the fact that there was a guest book with all the channels listed was a fantastic help. I can't really fault this hotel.

no noise (or perhaps no neighbours?), funny taps - no cold water, no toilet brush, I'd prefer a harder mattress and softer pillows (there were 4! which was lovely). located right next to a busy street but no excess noise. close to a tram stop (a 10 min ride from the Central station, 2GBP single for Zone 1, 2.80GBP return Zone 1), super close to bus stops. a few little grocery shops nearby. clean, no sign of tear & wear.

lovely interiors, a real nice period building, the famous staff made it all nicer - thank you for the chit chats Miles, Emma, Lorraine (?), Julia, Joe. a pleasant walk to/from the Utilita, pubs & restaurants within a walkable distance. tea/instant coffee + a kettle in the room were very handy. the heated towel dryer proved brilliant in case a quick hand-wash was needed. about Brum: The Broad Street Walk of Stars is not easily found (had trouble locating a few stars ... tourist infopoint at the library not much help either :(

Great location for getting into Broad Street and surrounding areas, straight walk in approx. 10 minutes, no need for taxis etc. We were visiting the Utilita Arena for the Elton John Concert, it was perfectly located. Excellent car parking facilities, all secure. Lovely grand inside entrance and dining room for breakfast. Outside seating area for drinks in the lovely sunshine. Nice buffet breakfast which included a variety of items including hot breakfast.

The hotel in parts is a little tired however nothing that a fresh coat of paint and a general cosmetic make over would sort. Would definitely stay here again and was still impressed with the size of the generous bedrooms, which included toiletries, ironing board, tea & coffee facilities.

The staff were absolutely amazing and couldn’t do enough for us and the hotel itself had very high standards of cleanliness

Although we loved the older feel of the building and feel that it would look silly to modernise decor in such a historical build, we feel it could have done with a fresh kick of paint and maybe some fresh carpets. the whole place had a smell that reminded me of an old museum smell and we feel it could perhaps have done with freshening up. all in all though the feel of it was fantastic and it did not have any negative effects on our stay

Location is great for an evening in Birmingham. Rates were much more favourable than staying in the centre, with taxi rates reasonable or buses running every 5 minutes right outside. Rooms were comfortable if not quite spectacular as they are a 60s or 70s extension on the impressive original building. All staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and their interaction made for an enjoyable weekend.

As noted the rooms were perhaps a little dated, and could do with modernising, but didn't detract from very comfy beds and a powerful shower, not like some bathrooms where the water pressure is little more than a trickle.

we were given a warm welcome upon arrival, nothing was too much trouble. When we returned on from our night out in Birmingham again we were greeted with a smile and asked if we enjoyed our evening and would we like to finish the night off by having a nightcap, how could we refuse. Again at breakfast a warm welcome and a delicious breakfast.

the main foyer/reception area is beautiful although we did feel it needed a little TLC in areas, paintwork and general upkeep but you can’t take that away from the granger of the building.

Great location, secure parking with plenty of CCTV and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good and was unlimited and had plenty to offer such as croissants, bagels, muffins, hot food etc. Room was clean and also in view of the car park which we liked.

We could hear everything going on in the corridor and the room next to us. The bathroom had a fan which I'm assuming connected to the room next door as we could hear a child crying through it. This was the only issue we had really but everything else was great.
