Flávio and Steve are two of the nicest people I have had the pleasure of meeting. The property is set overlooking the sea with a beautiful coastal walk on the doorstep. This is a very eclectic b&b as it is absolutely a home away from home. The owners are massive animal lovers who have an array of rescue pets from alpacas to geese. A highlight of the trip was bonding with all the animals and witnessing how these kind hearted gents have given their lives to protect and love them all. They couldn’t have been any more hospitable. The breakfast was lovely and far too much to finish. I have every intention of staying in contact with them and staying again soon

The property is dated however this really isn’t a problem as a dog friendly b&b. If you are looking for all the mod cons and crisp white sheets then this isn’t the place for you. If you are however looking to be treated like a long lost family member and spoilt rotten while there then give it a go… I recommend being an animal lover!!!

It’s just so Cornish, in a windy location not far from the cliffs above Bude where you can hear the sea. It easily conjures up visions of secret tunnels and smugglers although I haste to say I didn’t see any. Inside, it’s like visiting a private home with comfortable lounges and an abundance of books. I stayed there last year as well and found Steve to be the storybook genial host both times. The breakfast is wholesome and generous and if you have to leave before it is served, they will make you a generous packed lunch by way of compensation. The bus stop for connections to Bude, Launceston or Tintagel is a mere 100 metres away. And there’s spectacular cliff top walking trails aplenty.

Flavio and Steve were really welcoming and went out of their way to make us feel at home. As we are walking the SW coast path the location was perfect. We arrived part way through the men's Wimbledon final and were ushered in to sit in front of a huge TV screen so big we felt we were there! We were booked to have dinner locally but did not realise how far it would be to walk there and back. Flavio immediately offered to drive us there, then returned to pick us up later. It was so kind and very much appreciated as we had been walking all day. The animals they keep enhanced our stay and the fresh eggs from their chickens were delicious for breakfast.

There was nothing we did not like about our stay.

Lovely hosts- gave me brilliant tips on locations for dog walks, dog friendly cafes and where best to park for surfing and were generally very relaxed and accommodating of me and my young energetic pup. They were happy for me to leave her for a couple hours at a time (in her pen/crate when she needed a nap) and she also enjoyed meeting the other dogs, cats, alpacas, donkeys, geese, chickens etc! Room was comfy and fresh towels/tea and biscuit replenishment each day was a lovely extra touch I hadn't expected. Breakfast each morning was great and very filling. The area is amazing- good surf beaches a couple of mins drive away in either direction, right on the coastal path and near a beautiful canal path too, and good pubs and cafes close by. Felt very safe taking the dog out for a last stroll last thing at night before bed.

Wasn't sure if we had access to the garden or not, and the drive isn't the easiest in the world to get in/out of when other cars are about but those were small prices to pay for the location and considerate hosts!

Upton cross was amazing, I felt at home as soon as I went through the door, Flavio and Steve were so hospitable and told us different places to visit, the breakfasts were lovely and freshly cooked and there was plenty, I loved all the animals especially the dogs, who I made a fuss of each day, the view from our room was stunning overlooking the sea, the donkeys alpacas in the fields, with the geese tapping at the door in the lounge were so comical, we had lovely weather as well

That I had to leave after 4 days I would have stayed longer if I didn’t have work commitments Can’t didn’t like as going back at Xmas found a little gem being going to Cornwall for many years staying in caravans this is much better

Very friendly and welcoming, really welcoming of my dog. Lovely clean room. I was asked what kind of breakfast I would like and was served a very tasty freshly cooked breakfast with juice, coffee and toast. Flavio kindly offered me plates for takeaways and use of the kitchen if required. What made the stay was the friendliness of Flavio and Steve. I would definitely stay again.

I would probably ask for a room further away from the kitchen next time as I am a light sleeper.

I liked the friendly, helpful and welcoming staff. We also enjoyed our delicious cooked breakfasts. On the mornings we left for an early start before breakfast was served, Upton Cross made us a packed lunch of sandwiches, crisps, fruit, chocolate biscuits and other treats. This was an unexpected surprise. The staff encouraged us to sit in the communal lounge rather than stay in our room during the evenings; making us feel part of the family. The communal rooms featured an amazing collection of ornaments, art, stuffed animals and lavishly decorated urns as well as a grandfather clock. When I mentioned that my partner was celebrating her 50th birthday, Upton Cross gave her a box of fairy cakes and a card. The owners of the bed and breakfast keep various animals on their land including alpacas, donkeys and hens as well as numerous cats and dogs, which were all very friendly.

Over enthusiastic changing of bath mats every day - not very environmentally friendly.

Location, breakfast was good. Bed was quite comfortable, and there was tea & coffee etc provided. Lots of wildlife, about 4 dogs, alpacas, donkeys, geese, ducks & chickens. Lovely sea view from the bedroom.

Bathroom light was extremely bright for such a small room, different bulb needed. Very small bathroom, bath small, shower was very low down on the wall. My husband is 6'2", so slightly challenging to shower properly and bath too small for him to use. Bathroom altogether a bit dated, really needs a rethink! Didn't like dogs at breakfast. My husband is allergic, but we weren't asked if they were Ok to be present. They were cute though.

The B&B is located just outside Bude, but the price is value for money. The hosts were great, very welcoming and their dogs were so well behaved. They didn't bother you at all. The breakfast was excellent and they have a very demanding Goose who taps the window for food when you are sitting down. The owners obliged him her with some scrap bread, but it was nice to see. There is a coastal bridal path that goes into Bude and is a nice walk into Town.

Nothing regarding the B&B . Be mindful if you go into Town to book a Taxi back if you need one relatively early as the taxi's had stopped by 10pm. It was a nice walk back along the coastal path, but be wary with diminishing light.
