Location short walk less 10 mins to city, but this was slow walk through the park, as were enjoying it. Beautiful gardens at hotel, and the stroll through the park to the city is lovely, kids play park and toilet on route, and a lovely tapas bar in the park, serving warming rum hot chocolates along with other delights of food and drinks. Alternative 5 min walk down Castle Street, turn right out of hotel but less scenic, although Pinocchios Italian is there which is fab! Staff were great, helped us store baby milk in the fridge with access all the time. High chair for little one at breakfast too and he loved the fruit and yoghurts. Room very good, double bed, 2 singles, arm chairs, tv, kettle. Nothing too much trouble for staff. Attentive staff but not intrusive Arrived 11:30, paid for room, enabled to park at the hotel and check in later. Very clean room, castle view, just lovely short break. Breakfast great, cereal, croissants, fresh fruit, organic yoghurt ,selection of teas and hot chocolate along with fresh coffee. Loved the hotel itself, with quirky floors and sounds!! as it should be in a place of this character. Good selection of beers and spirits. Location superb for the city, but also for Howletts Zoo, a 10 minute drive away, which was a great day out. Superb base for exploring the town and further afield. Would recommend. Shame we were a week too early for the Christmas Markets but looking at the setting up around the city and Cathedral it’s going to be great so will be back in a couple of weeks to Castle View Hotel. Price and location, alongside the cleanliness of the hotel and the great staff it’s a no brainier not to return for a family break and will be my go to hotel when in the area for work. So pleased I found this hotel.

Water pressure, however with multiple rooms and historic building to be expected, water was lovely and warm though, so good if lengthy shower.

We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights 24 - 29th November 2024. Although the location is on a busy roundabout, our room had secondary double glazing, so not a problem. Bed and continental breakfast on offer, which was lovely. All staff are very pleasant and helpful. A ten minute walk brought you to the centre of the town, with it's variety of shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs, also Christmas markets in centre. A visit to Caterbury Cathedral is a must, it's a magnificent building steeped in history. Would definitely visit again. Jan and Chris Henderson, Kenley, Surrey.

An excellent, reasonably priced and very comfortable b&b in a great location for visiting Canterbury. This really is a lovely town to visit and everything was in walking distance. Some reviews have complained about there not being a cooked breakfast. However, there was such an amazing range of foods on offer that I really enjoyed it: cereals, seeds, nuts, dried fruits, yoghurt, cereal bars, croissants, toast, cheese, ham .... fabulous! The room was very comfortable, very warm and a good size even though we chose a small double. It was lovely to have a bath in the bathroom.

Nothing - all great. It was probably my own error, but worth mentioning that this b&b does have its own private car park. We parked in the fee paying car park next door before we realised our mistake and moved.

I love to stay in older buildings with charm rather than modern hotels. The Castle House Hotel was perfect ! We had a lovely big room with ensuite and queen bed and plenty of wardrobe space. Occassional noise from outside but faint and not enough to disturb us. Comfy bed and really great breakfast in a charming dining room. The staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. A big carpark with easy access from a quiet street. The hotel was well positioned for exploring Canterbury. Theres a little garden accessible from the back of the carpark which would be nice to sit in in summer.

We had a great stay. If I had to find fault the water pressure in the shower was poor a little bit of maintenance needed in the bathroom - chipped paint. There are some downstairs rooms but no lift, so no good if you can't climb stairs. Stairs have a high rise consistent with the age of the house.

Great staff, optimal location just a few minutes walk to the city center, on-site free parking, old building, but clean and spacious with all the facilities required for a short stay. Breakfast was cold buffet style, but plentiful and with good coffee! And at check-in the staff offered all types of milks for different allergies/requirements. Our room had a huge comfy double bed, and two single beds at almost floor level (like camp beds). They are very handy for small children that might fall out of bed at night, and were totally fine (and comfy) for our teenagers too! So request those beds if you have little ones with you! Didn't try the in-room coffee, but the biscuits were a nice treat. Shower was an in-bath type, as you'd expect with an historic property. Certainly powerful enough and spacious, but the step into the bath might not suit all ages; though I heard another guest mention they requested a room with walk-in shower. Seems like a very accommodating hotel! Overall very clean and comfy.

Rooms upstairs didn't seem to have opening windows, nor aircon in the room, so missed a bit of clean air in the morning. To be fair, there was a decent fan in the room, but we left early so didn't experiment with it.

The location was perfect for visiting the city centre and the cathedral! Barely a 10 minute walk and you are right there! The place is old and quirky, love it! The cat there was asleep on the landing and was super cute! The room was a really good size, very clean and comfortable, everything we needed was there. The breakfast was great! Just Continental as advertised, but there was so much choice of cereals, fruit, yoghurts, cereal bars, flapjacks, meats and cheeses, toast, croissants, hot drinks, cold drinks….. Really nice! The staff were all lovely and friendly! Had a really enjoyable stay and wouldn’t hesitate to return!

The shower cubicle was quite small, but the shower itself was great!

The location was amazing! Perfect for visiting the city centre. The continental breakfast was nice and the room was spacious and clean. The gentleman that was on duty when we arrived was very friendly and helpful.

The TV didn't work which was disappointing as my daughter and had planned a girlie night in with snacks whilst watching Strictly so that couldn't happen! The car park is small so it was tricky to get in and out with a big car. The breakfast staff weren't great as I had to go and find a staff member in the kitchen to ask for toast- she was busy on her phone.

Booked The Castle to attend a graduation ceremony in the cathedral. We had a room in the old stable block as I had booked for my two daughters to stay with me. This room was very comfortable with good bedlinen. Beds were comfy. Easy access to the car park area and to the main hotel reception area. Free car parking to residents on first come, first served basis was the main reason I booked the Castle as I wanted to park the car and not have to worry about taxis etc in order to get to the cathedral in time. I had read the previous reviews about the breakfasts being continental style so was prepared for just a bowl of cereal and a coffee. However, the breakfast area was neat and tidy; items were replenished quickly when stocks were running low and there was plenty of selection. Basically, I didn't miss the cooked breakfast at all! The hotel in general was very clean. The main hotel has a certain charm and elegance, without being over dressed. All in all, a very good stay for what we wanted.

There was no wifi in the stable room. This wasn't game changing but could have been.

The room was huge! I liked the furniture. The breakfast room had a nice atmosphere too and the breakfast was excellent. The people were nice, it was a bit of a family hotel, or so it felt.

The hotel could need some new paint. Our room was next to a busy roundabout. During the day, you need to keep the windows closed because of the noice and the polluted air. At night, we were so tired that we did sleep, even with the window open, but it's not completely silent at such a location, of course. Not sure if other rooms were more quiet, but I would ask for it at your reservation.

The location with parking. Comfortable bed. Friendly staff.

The bathroom could have done with a shelf & nowhere to put shower toiletries other than the floor which I find difficult. TV too small & no ability to access any subscription channels. More variety of teabags in the rooms would be good. There was fresh fruit in bananas, apples & satsumas but otherwise all tinned. Could do better there. A number of people asked for boiled eggs as part of the continental breakfast but apparently there wasn’t the facility to do this.
