We were attending our daughters graduation so ideal location just 5 minutes walk to cathedral, on the main shopping street and opposite the theatre. We parked in St Radiguns car park, paid £16 to the hotel for 24 hours. Provided a room to leave our luggage in as we arrived before check in time. Huge bedrooms, tea/coffee facilities and a big fan in the wardrobe which was definitely needed.
Breakfast was continental but not much choice, when we arrived every table but one was still littered with previous customers breakfast. There appeared to be one person looking after breakfast and seeing in a delivery whilst covering reception. We had 3 rooms at the front of the building which you accessed through a side door, Be careful as you push door open as there is a step the other side which i fell down. Steep stairs to all three rooms.

Comfortable bed, nice linen, all very clean, although carpet a little tired. Ability to open a window for fresh air. Coffee, tea in room. Nice continental breakfast with plenty of healthy choices, nuts. seeds, dried fruit plus alternative milks - oat, soya, coconut - wasn't expecting that! Friendly staff.
A little noisy early morning (from other rooms, squeaky floorboards, banging doors, pipes etc). Coffee in the breakfast room not great (rest good). Getting in at night with the key to the outside door a little tricky! Shower hard to turn on, control - scalding one minute, freezing next - could do with modernising with mixer tap

Old and small room with old furniture but very clean. The bathroom was nice and had everything needed. The breakfast was good, didn't have lots of options but there was bread, ham, cheese, croissants, different types of milk, coffee etc etc. The staff was very friendly. They let me leave my bag there before the check in time as well as after checking out! Great location! right in the centre of Canterbury. I ealked everywhere from here and never needed to take any means of transport.
The kettle that I had in my room was very dirty, all covered in limescale so I couldn't use it. There is no lift, but it makes sense as it is a very old hotel.

Massive thanks to the staff who found and kept safe an item I accidently left behind. That was very thoughtful of them. The staff were really kind and friendly, breakfast was good, we usually like a cooked breakfast but there was a good selection here to mean we didn't miss it. Felt safe and located well in centre of town and for river walks.
Not the hotels faults but the noise at night from drunken folk in town and then in the early hours the recycling / bin collection woke us. However, this was a Friday night on a hot May day so we had to keep the windows open. This is likely an issue most areas in town and the value for money here was good so just one of those things. It's not in the hotels power to stop young drunk people pushing each other up and down the street in trolleys, more a societal problem we have in the UK that means some people don't behave thoughtfully.

It's a quirky place, a mix of old and new fixtures and fittings, which I really liked. Modern downstairs and older upstairs. Great location. Easy walking distance from the train station and all amenities, such as restaurants, river, parks, museums etc. The staff were friendly, and helpful but not always easy to find. Perhaps they were short staffed when we were there. The room was a good size. We had a family room, where I had the double bed and my friend and her daughter had the adjoining room with two single beds. I had to walk through it to use the bathroom, and the door hinges could've done with a little oil. My bed was comfy, as were theirs, and although the room felt a little chilly with I think single glazing, the duvets were warm enough, without needing an extra blanket. It was quiet. We weren't disturbed by other guests. The food at breakfast was good and enough but not very exciting. There were some games downstairs in a lounge area, which was nice to sit in with kids.
The shower was not very strong. The breakfast had plenty to eat but not very exciting, and I had to get the staff from round the corner in the bar to get me a decaf coffee in the mornings as there was none available in the breakfast room. The toaster was really loud, and took ages to warm up, so we gave up! Couldn't always find the staff, for example, to find someone to serve at the bar in the evening, and no one at desk to checkout, as well as no bell or phone to attract attention at reception, nor a quick dropbox for the keys, which was odd.

For me it was a great place to stay for a few days. It checked all my requirements: clean and welcoming room with its own bathroom, hot water (really important for me :)) ), quiet atmosphere (great for a good night rest), considerate staff (patient, smiling all the time, communicative and they recommended a great place to eat dinner), near by the city center, good WiFi.
For me these weren't a problem, but maybe it may concern others - the room is really small, so if you prefer hotels with spacious rooms this is not the place for you. Also the window is really small, so there is not too much natural light in the room. The breakfast is not too rich, doesn't have many options, however there are many places near the hotel where you can grab a good coffee and a sandwich or a muffin on the go.

The hotel was conveniently right in the centre of the City in the old pedestrian quarter, so there was no buzz of traffic, and plenty of places to eat close by. The bedroom was very clean and warm (it was very cold outside) and the bed was very comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. It was explained in advance that there was no hot breakfast, but the spread of cold offerings was just right for us.
It was not the hotel's fault, but the City's refuse collections vehicles made a loud noise very early in the morning just outside the hotel.

First things first, the location is ideal and simply cannot be beat. You are right there in the center a stones throw away from pubs, restaurants and shops. (Pro tip: Do not miss the Foundry brewpub for excellent food and drinks!) However, where the hotel truly excels is with their staff. The reception staff also manages breakfast and the bar. Quite a challenge during peak hours, however they more than make do. Whether they are checking you in or making sure you have enough toast for breakfast, they are very friendly and helpful. The same goes for the housekeeping! I was in a deluxe room which is fully carpeted. Not an easy feat to keep clean, however the whole room was absolutely spotless. The room was cleaned daily and more importantly, the biscuits at the coffee and teamaker were also replenished daily! If you’re looking for a friendly and comfortable hotel in Canterbury, look no further. If your budget allows for it, the deluxe rooms are well worth the little bit of extra money. We really enjoyed our stay and I’m pretty sure you would too!
The main street can be a bit noisy. With the windows closed it’s not that bad, but if you’re a light sleeper you may want to request a room at the side or back of the hotel. Also, keep in mind that like most buildings in England, they are not built for (very) warm weather. If it is hot outside, it will be warm inside. Thankfully, a fan was provided which made it perfectly manageable.

They weren't serving cooked breakfast during my week, but the choice of things was good. There was some building works going on. Room comfortable and quiet, which was surprising as it was next to the theatre. Great location for getting around the area and I travelled to Deal, Ramsgate Whitstable using either trains of buses - all very easy. So much to see in Canterbury and remember to check out what's on at the Marlowe theatre - I saw Sister Act, which wasn't planned!
My room was serviced on my last night stay which was disappointing. Staff were informed.

The hotel is an easy walk from the station and located in the heart of town. Loads of restaurants and shopping in car free area nearby. Lovely river walk. Hotel is convenient and staff were pleasant and helpful. Continental breakfast was good. Very happy to have visited Canterbury and stayed at The Pilgrims.
The Cathedral is currently undergoing renovations. The room I stayed in was small...perfectly comfortable as I was on my own, but if there are 2 of you with luggage it may be a bit cramped. It was also up 2 flights of stairs ... which was also no problem for me.
