The location of the hotel was perfect for sightseeing in Canterbury and the wider area. Not only is it exceptionally close to the UNESCO World Heritage site but it is also conveniently located for both of the city's train stations. The staff were friendly and helpful - they were only to happy to accommodate my request for an earlier breakfast.
The room that I stayed in overlooked a major thoroughfare within the city. Due to the heat (I went in June), I was unable to shut the windows and, therefore, it was rather noisy from quite early in the morning to late at night.

Location was excellent right in the City, food was excellent quality. The Cathedral its self was also very good even though parts are under repair. The guided tour was excellent.
The post code for the parking was not correct and brings you to a gate you cannot enter. You need to drive right round the outer Cathedral grounds to a road at the back which is not signposted and enter an alleyway by the side of a pub. It was a hot week and the room has no air con, I was uncomfortable with opening windows on a ground floor room. There was a small amount of black mould in the shower.

We really liked the central location of the rooms. The breakfast was also very tasty and heavy. There was a lot of choice for breakfast. Even though we did not like the fact that you have to choose a time when you will have breakfast in advance, the food was really good. The beds were comfy, the bathroom was nice. The wifi worked when we requested another network, because the first wifi did not work for us.
We had to decide in advance when to have breakfast. But the service made up for that. We were a little surprised by the fact that the lodge explicitly prohibited "visiting inappropriate websites", saying that the church is monitoring the connection.

The staff were exceptional. Really helpful, friendly, informed, organised. The room was ready when we arrived early - always a bonus. We weren't expecting it and it was a pleasant surprise. As was the willingness to supply a jug of milk rather than UHT milk cartons. The disabled car parking was close by and we were given a voucher to park there for the duration of our 2 night stay - this made a lot of things so much easier. Access to the centre of Canterbury was easy. Again, another a pleasant surprise. The building was bright, well furnished and freshly decorated. Our disabled room on the ground floor was a bit small for 2 (we knew it would be and so managed), and little too hot (no air con) but there was a fan available. It had easy access to the dining room and cathedral close, so not miles of walking, steps or need to use a lift. The lounge was a comfortable space to meet other members of the wedding party. Although the bar wasn't staffed all the time, it was opened and staffed whenever we asked - it never appeared to be a problem. The breakfasts were generous with an extensive choice, all well and freshly cooked. A very pleasant, accessible stay, with charming, friendly staff.
This depends if you like bells, not telling you the time, but calling you to prayers. It is important to remember it is a working cathedral not just a museum and there is no such thing as 30 o'clock!! :-)

This is the best accommodation in Canterbury. Your feel literally to be within the garden of the Cathedral. You wake up and see the monumental building. The lodge gave us free entry cards into the cathedral for the whole stay meaning that we could go in anytime. This was simply magnificent. We visited the cathedral for an evensong and listened to the Cathedral Choir and the organ, too. Hence there is not much else to see in Canterbury (than the cathedral), it is best to be close to the main attraction. The lodge itself is very safe and friendly. Our room on the first floor was well-equipped, with a safe too. There were hardly any noises, so we had a great sleep. Staff was helpful and they were always smiling :) Breakfast was also very tasty. They have a system that you need to reserve a time spot for the breakfast (the restaurant is not big enough for everyone at the same time), and it worked, really. We could not try the restaurant during our stay because there were other organised events there. We came by car and luckily could get a parking place within the gated area. However, do not count on it because there are limited number of parking places, and do not worry because you can park elsewhere, too. Overally, we had a great stay.
Nothing really.

It feels VERY special to be staying so close to the Cathedral, we could see it from our bedroom window. Going to Matinée prayers...a 5 mn walk between the lodge and the Chapel where it was happening. I was the only "outsider" - and that little chapel is closed to the public when the Cathedral is opened for visits.
A bit difficult to get there by car, but if you ask clear instructions then you are O.K. Unfortunately, we could hear people next door who woke up extremely early and turned on the T.V...

Nice clean comfortable room and easily controlled heating. Loved the breakfast especially as it is served at your table and not from a self service buffet. The selection on offer was really good including fresh pastries and a good variety of options like Eggs Benedict. Very good powerful shower.
We probably should have spent a bit more for a room with a larger bed. We had a standard 4'6" double. The room although clean and comfortable was very small. The coffee at breakfast on the first day was good quality but cold. Even the replacement coffee was cold. The second day we ordered the same coffee (decaf flat white) and it was made from instant granules which was a bit of a disappointment.

This is a lovely property, built around a courtyard overlooking the cathedral. It’s very quiet at night as you are away from the noise of the city centre. Room is well appointed, nicely furnished and breakfasts are good.
We have been coming here for a number of years and it’s a perfect place for staying in Canterbury, we like it a lot. However, it is starting to feel a little unloved from a maintenance perspective. Shower cubicle has a number of sign of mould and the corridor carpet is badly stained and marked in places. It’s almost as if ongoing maintenance is not happening or problems that need addressing aren’t being sorted out or flagged. These things don’t get better by themselves and it’s starting to detract from the stay. It’s fairly expensive to stay there and they should do better with this basic stuff.

We were very impressed with the location and we were able to park in the grounds, we felt very safe. The staff on the front desk were all absolutely charming, helpful, friendly and happy. As were the staff at breakfast. Our first breakfast at 9am was excellent, a very good breakfast menu. Our room was clean, tidy, a reasonable size, shower room, clean and in good order. and the room was warm and comfortable.
I can't say there was anything we didn't like. However, if you want feedback for future improvements, the lodge in places could do with a bit of updating, the communal carpets were tired and the bedroom furniture a little dated but it was all functional. The breakfast on the 2nd day being a bit later wasn't as good as the first day, i.e. sausages & tomato & hash browns tasted like they had just been kept warm for a while.

The property was lovely. The design fit so perfectly with the cathedral grounds. The location on the cathedral grounds with access to the center of the city and transportation hubs was perfect. The rooms were absolutely lovely and comfortable. The staff was personable, very friendly and extremely helpful. The 2 reception desk women came to our rescue when our train back to London was canceled. They were more than accommodating, volunteering to hold our luggage until we made alternate transportation plans…and gave us wonderful advice in dealing with our situation. They were lifesavers. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay.
The front garden seemed to be unfinished, but you could see the potential of what it will be.
