This is a small lodge, only 5 rooms, which was wonderful. The room was furnished with a small refrigerator, coffee maker and mugs. Each day the coffee, tea, hot chocolate and biscuits were replenished. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was nice and included a hairdryer. The staff are friendly and attentive. There is a great bar and restaurant downstairs and it is packed every night. Breakfast comes with the room and has everything from a full English, to yogurt, cereal and fruit. The restaurant staff were extremely accommodating with regard to my food allergies and requirements. A small parking lot is available on site for guests. Street parking is also available.

The only complaint would be that the water in the shower cycled between hot, warm and cool about every 10-15 seconds.

Overall our stay was good. The room was very clean & the en suite was equally clean & suitable. Breakfast was very pleasant & all the staff were very friendly & polite. We really enjoyed the neighbouring roads opposite, Faulkner Street & Charles Street where there are a number of shops, cafes & restaurants which had a bit of a village feel.

The hotel is fairly close to the main road & as our room was at the front there was a noticeable amount of traffic noise & the occasional group outside making their way home from the city in the early hours. This isn't a place to go if you want a quiet night as the bar area extends out to the front of the premises where people obviously socialise. That said the staff ensure that all's quiet at about 11.00pm.

Very popular with locals. The bar was always busy. A good range of food is available at sensible prices. The portions were large. Well cooked breakfast and a flexible approach to ordering the cooked items despite a specific menu. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Located within 10 mins walk of the station and 20 to the centre of the city. . Spacious bedroom. Big shower with plenty of hot water straight away. Fridge in the room for general use. Very nice biscuits.

We just happened to be there during the hottest part of the year so far. So, not a fault of the property, but only one window was an opening section and it was difficult to get enough air circulation in the room. We did use the fan provided and this did help a little. We had to amend our food choices when ordering from the menu in the evening as items were not available. However, the staff were very helpful when giving us the bad news and there was no extra charge if we decided on something more expensive when we had the Wednesday night special.

Another lovely stay at the lodge, they had decorated the room for my brothers birthday which was a lovely surprise and all the staff were so kind and helpful. Breakfast was great, we had the eggs benedict which were perfectly cooked and we also had our evening meal there. The fish and chips was to die for as well as the burger and the portions were huge. The room was very clean and spacious enough to fit three people and the beds were lovely and soft, plenty of towels and a little toiletries kit was left on each bed. Also tea and coffee making facilities and a fan in case the room got too warm. Great location and a great place to stay when visiting Chester.

Bathroom was very warm due to the towel heater being on throughout the duration of the stay.

Perfect all round. Good breakfast, great value, fresh food!

Car parking should be for patrons only. More bar staff in evening.

Our room was clean, spacious, and comfortable. It is located in a fashionable neighborhood with many other guesthouses on the same street. A delicious breakfast was part of the room rate, with 4-5 hot meal selections (a full English breakfast included, of course!). The restaurant and pub below the rooms seemed to be very popular, but the noise dodged not bother us in our room. We also appreciated having free on-site parking for our rental car. We really enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it to travelers to Chester!

Walking the 20-minute walk into downtown Chester was no problem for us (we are in our 60’s but do lots of walking), but could be an issue for some travelers. It looks like bus stops are very nearby, however, and we did notice many for-hire ride services (Uber). Likewise we have no issue with stairs, but travelers should be forewarned that there is no lift.

The location and price of the hotel was great, with breakfast included too. The hotel room itself was lovely and we had enough space, the bathroom was also clean and tidy. The staff were also really friendly and helpful.

I know it's not a massive problem, but the hotel really need to sort their wi-fi out. I could not get it to connect to either my phone or my laptop. I asked a member of staff about it and he said they had been having problems with it for weeks. It's a basic that really needs sorting. There was some noise from the beer garden at the back, which I believe should have closed at 10pm but there were still people outside talking when we went to bed around 11.30pm. The room did also get a bit warm during the night, as there was only one small window we could open.

The Place itself was very relaxing, inside is decorated to a good standard and outside was plenty of seating to be able to relax or dine alfresco. The room was decorated to a good standard, lovely double shower bathroom. Bedding was cotton and fresh and my husband found the bed was comfortable, although dipped a little in the middle. A nice touch was that the TV was a smart TV and so i could sign in and watch Netflix, Disney plus etc as i would at home when relaxing. Breakfast you had a good choice of cereal and cooked items. Fruit was just on the go fruit would have been nice to have like melon etc. My husband had the full English and i had eggs benedict, both were amazing! We dined the evening before and as it was Sunday we both had the 2 course for £19.95 deal with a roast and pudding which we thought was good value and the roasts were amazing too. Took a stroll into Chester city centre, just 15 minutes. Overall this was our favourite place we stayed on our 4 day trip. We travelled via Motorcycle and stayed somewhere different each night. Although you do not have a lockable garage for the bikes, we felt they were safe enough tucked up behind the hotel so did not worry. Would stay again if every this way in the future and would highly recommend. Great value for money.

My only issue was the bed. Where as my husband found it comfortable, which it was to lay and watch TV, I personally found it uncomfortable to sleep on as it was what looked like a foam block, not memory foam. I have a bad back and like to sleep on my side but where it was dipped in this made it uncomfortable for me where as my husband sleeps on his back and slept like a baby. Personal preference.

Great value for money. Nice spacious clean airy room with plenty of tea and coffee and biscuits. The bar was great with plenty of outside seating. The breakfast was lovely and staff very friendly.

Wasn't as close to the centre as we had liked more like half hour walk. Waited quite a while for breakfast seen as a couple walked in and immediately took their order whilst us and another couple who had been in a while before both being ignored. There was only 1 waiter on understandable but should be better organised. When the breakfast came though couldn't fault it and he did apologise for the wait.

The rooms are spotless, showers work perfectly, beds and bedding are comfy and very clean. Definitely great value for money.

We couldn’t eat our evening at the Lodge or stay to watch the England match. We booked dinner at 6.30, we were told there was a 40 min wait for food but we had to be off that table for 8pm for a quiz goer. There were no other tables available, presumably due to the Quiz and the England match. So we went to eat dinner and watch the match elsewhere. Also, our room was booked well in advance but when we went down for breakfast, the lady made a comment that “nobody told them we were coming”. This was said out loud and was rather embarrassing in front of all the guests who you were apparently expecting. Not sure why the staff were unaware of our booking. And I don’t think it’s good practice to deny your hotel guests a dinner table because it has been reserved for a quiz goer.
