Both the evening meal and the breakfast were excellent. The service was first class as was the quality of the wines we drank. The location was great although, as we were there in the winter we didn't really have much opportunity to enjoy it but I could see that it will be amazing in the summer months.
We had an hour after settling in before we met friends for drinks and a meal. During that time we planned to relax in our room and watch a bit of TV as it was after dark on a rather chilly February evening. We had great problems getting the TV to work and even the member of staff who came to sort it had several attempts to get it working. Once it was working I thought the selection of channels was very limited. This was the only very minor gripe as we hadn't come to sit and watch tele!!!

The location from our opinion was excellent - walking distance into Chester. Free parking was an absolute bonus! The room was good and comfortable and serviced daily. The pub is great and the food was very good. How refreshing to have breakfast cooked in the kitchen fresh and delivered to our table.
We didn't dislike anything but we did have a problem with our television not working and the management dealt with this the best they could and compensated us more than adequately. The bathrooms have small issues. Our sink plug was broken and these small issues can tend to escalate if they are not paid attention to.

Breakfast is always fantastic at the Boathouse, with the view of the river in the morning. Just idyllic setting and the food is excellent. The staff are always very friendly and helpful. The locality is fantastic also, the views are wonderful and the walk along the dee and up to the local pub up by the main bridge is great.
When we got back to the room that night, we found two spiders on the bed, which obviously prompted a search for any others in the room (which sent the wife into overdrive). The TV channels were not coming on - we had to run through 50 plus channels before we found an English speaking channel. No BBC1 or 2 etc, or ITV - it may have just been this room as we stayed in a signature room last year and everything was perfect.

The pub was great, very relaxing atmosphere and friendly staff. The room was nicely decorated and liked that we could open the window. Nice and quiet. Great location by the river, easy walk into Chester.
Breakfast was average. Some items overcooked and hard ie bacon and poached eggs. For the price of the stay would have expected a better quality of bread. The bathroom needed a good clean, especially under the toilet seat and the rim of the sink. When you are led in bed and the toilet is right by you, you don’t want to be looking at a dirty toilet rim. The TV wasn’t working for the whole stay. Someone had attempted to put sticky plasters over the LED’s on the smoke detector. The robes were of poor quality, smelt fusty and didn’t fit my 6ft husband.

Lovely location by the river Dee for our short break, an easy stroll to the city centre and the main attractions. Our room was in a modern block on the other side of the car park so not a great river view but we appreciated the free parking. Standard room with all the usual facilities. The breakfast was good - other half appreciated having omelette Arnold Bennett on the menu.
Minor quibbles - the room was on the warm side and we couldn't work out how to lower the temperature other than opening the window. The pillows were not the most comfortable but that is such a personal thing so not really the fault of the property.

The Location. The friendliness and great customer service of the staff. The food in the restaurant. The way in which the assistant manager responded to me pointing out our dissatisfaction with our second room.(See next feedback )
We had to move rooms for the extra night we decided to stay.It was classed as a Superior Double and so was more expensive. However, despite being exactly the same as our first room, it was not as clean as the first room we had stayed in and there were several bad maintenance issues. Also, the extra charge was to reflect that the room had a Nespresso Coffee maker and Air Conditioning, neither of which we used. I informed the assistant manager. The assistant manager was very disappointed and apologised about the poor standard of that room and thanked my wife and I for bringing it to his attention. Although not expected, nor asked for, he insisted we had dinner in the restaurant with the hotel's compliments.

excellent location, next to the river, and a lovely short walk along the the river front to get to the centre.. Good food and helpful staff.
I paid extra for the superior double room with a river view,as it was our 40th anniversary and wanted something a bit more special as a treat. The view turned out to be a view across the carpark and the river was just visible behind the restaurant. Room wasn't worth over £180 a night .It looked tired, and certainly didn't look recently renovated, the sink was cracked, the light above the sink was not working and there was no toilet roll holder as it had been broken off the wall.. Having said all that we had a great time as staff were nice, food was good and room was comfy.

Such a fantastic location, brilliant bedroom space with your own entrance and all staff we met were so happy and welcoming - big thank you to Lisa who we saw a number of times - she always had a smile on her face even when we knew she’d been there since breakfast. We will definitely be back and recommend to all our friends and family.
It was a warm weekend and due to the set up (wall of large windows with just 1 small which opens) it was hot. There was a large fan though, in the room which really helped

Room was very comfortable and had a good view, although not exactly the full view of the river I expected. Location was excellent - quiet, by the river, within easy walking distance of city centre & had its own car park (free for guests) . Food was good and substantial - proper "pub grub". Staff were all very friendly.
On returning to my room on the second & third days of my stay, the room was freezing cold and it took a few hours to get the air conditioning to heat the room back up to a reasonable temperature. However, I was able to wear one of the provided bath robes to keep warm while the room was heating up. A bit on the pricey side for the accommodation/facilities provided.

From the moment we arrived the staff were helpfull and so friendly. The location was fantastic and right on the banks of the river dee and was a lovely walk into the center The room was clean warm and cozy and bed and pillows so comfy. Breakfast was exceptional as was our evening meal. The beach huts were a nice touch. Excellant beer garden on the water
Althought the room was cozy warm and clean we didn't like the fact we couldn't open the curtains as we would of lost our privacy so felt a bit closed in. Could of done with another tub chair and table so we didn't have to lay on the bed when we had a hot drink and use bedside table to rest our hot drinks. We were in room one. The lighting around the dressing table area could do with being brighter for make up application and blow drying hair.
