Breakfast was adequate, not many staff around until Fri 21st when extra staff appeared..I feel we should ALL be reminded our hospitality has taken a massive decline of people coming from abroad to work here, therefore employees are doing their utmost to keep hotels, restauranrs, pubs operational. The location was good but extra signage on the roundabout would prove helpful rather than going round the roundabout twice!
The 5a.m. fire alarm on Fri 21st July saw customers vacate the building, waiting at designated safety bay for 25 minutes, when the alarmed ceased and no show of a fire engine, we took it upon ourselves to venture back inside. We were extremely concerned that no one came outside to carry out a headcount OR to reassure us that the building was safe, no explanation or apology was offered from any of the staff, in fact when I enquired about the incident, staff looked rather blank & when I said about standing outside, she replied, "what you all went outside". I'll find out what happened, I waited 25 minutes and no one came back to me. Thank goodness we were all safe but I feel strongly that the hotel needs to brush up and greatly improve their fire safety procedures.

After reading some of the reviews I was a little worried about our stay at this hotel, however I need not have been Staff were very helpful at check in, room bright clean, no stuffy bad smells as reported in some of the reviews, coffee making facilities, nice bathroom with shower gel, white fluffy towels and a very comfortable bed. We eat in the restaurant for our first evening. 2 hunters chicken dinners, hot and very tasty, 1 dessert, 2 beers and a glass of wine and a cappuccino - £52, can’t complain at that! Staff friendly and helpful, called a cab for us when I could not get an Uber. This was an adequate and comfortable hotel for a weekend visit to Colchester and good value for the money.
I suppose the breakfast wasn’t the best, but adequate . We came down about 30 minutes before end of service and there wasn’t any sausage and not much in the other serving trays, but I can understand they did not want to waste food and they did cook some more sausages for us .

It’s clean and easy to get to , and is very comfortable, beds are grate , on bad point is the breakfast let’s it down , we had to wait on everything, every year we have had to go without a full breakfast as we couldn’t wait on fresh stuff coming out ??
The property was grate , we have stayed here 3 or 4 years in a trot , we go to the world hot rods in Foxhall every year an stay at this hotel , the only thing we didn’t like is there’s not enuf staff on breakfast for Saturday or Sunday but Monday there’s 3 or 4 on duty

We liked there was good parking on site, the reception area was very clean and welcoming, the receptionist was very helpful and friendly, our room was on the side of the hotel it was a good size with a very nice comfy bed lovely towels and toiletries, iron hairdryer and ironing board, extra pillows. Our breakfast was extremely good value for money, freshly laid out and cleanly presented with cereals and cooked foods too, tea and coffee and juices. Overall we very much enjoyed our stay, it was just off the A12 very conveniently located for us with on site restaurant if required.
It was New Year so expected some noise from adjoining guests who were loud and noisy when we arrived at our room, there is no telephone in the room so had it gone on longer I would have had to leave the room to go to reception downstairs, fortunately once we were in bed it quietened down so there was no problem. Guests should be more aware of others in hotels .

Room was clean and functional. Bed was comfortable. Ate in the restaurant first evening. Food was very good. Becky was the staff member we dealt with. She was excellent and a real asset to the Hotel.
Only minor things. Reception not that well signposted, Some of the doors were a bit "sticky" to touch so maybe needed a clean. Seemed to be a lack of staff which wasn't a problem for us as it was quiet when we were about but could be at busier times.

Location, quiet, room size, comfort and cleanliness.
Restaurant service slow as receptionist, bar lady, waitress had to do everything. Meals are a bit basic but adequate. Toaster faulty, no Milk in coffee machine or plates for breakfast so had to keep asking for things but quick and helpful response Just needs checking a bit more. Wouldn’t put me off staying again and staff friendly and helpful to sort things out but seem to be stretched.

nice setting and clean, staff helpful and friendly although one member of staff on check In didn’t tell me about registering my car so I didn’t get a fine as it’s pay to park for non guests when I asked another employee in the evening how it works she explained then she very kindly did it for me.
No information in the room, ie meal times and menu. and might have helped with the parking issue, no phone to call reception no fridge and would have preferred (very minor point) the cups etc to have been on a tray not directly on the wooden counter.

Staff were great, especially Chelsea and Paul. All of them were friendly, helpful and efficient. The rooms are functional, if a bit small.
The menu was too limited and even though lunch was advertised it wasn't provided. Apparently this will change soon. There needs to be more staff. Also, it seemed only one member of staff worked overnight. This puts them at risk: there should be at least two.

Received a warm welcome from Monika (on Reception). Allocated room 115 - a spacious room with comfy bed. Plenty of parking. Quiet location despite being near a main road. Dinner - pizza was freshly made and arrived within 15 minutes.
Lack of signage when turning from the main road. The bathroom did not have soap to wash hands. Breakfast basic - eggs very dry and rubbery. Mushrooms dry and tasteless. However, the jam pastry was delicious.

Clean, modern and relaxed.
Some shabby chairs in reception. Also no fried eggs at breakfast. Also, rather fierce sink tap in bathroom. If you forget, it showers the room! Asked for extra towel, which was given but had a nasty stain on, fake tan or similar🤔. Also, as rooms aren’t serviced each day, you run out of tea, coffee and milk, so have to ask for it.
