Lovely stylish room, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast options were a continental or a full Scottish cooked breakfast. We only had breakfast on one of the mornings, but it was really tasty! It was very central in Helensburgh, easy walk to everything, and only 15 min drive from Loch Lomond

Our room was incredibly warm! There was a heating panel, which didn’t seem to be connected to anything, so no matter what we did to it, it made no difference. Luckily, we were at the back of the hotel, so were able to keep the window open with little noise. The walls between the rooms are quite thin- we were unfortunate to have quite noisy neighbours on our first night which impacted my sleep- but I’m a light sleeper! No other issues the following two nights.

The staff at the hotel were incredibly friendly and helpful, and they were very understanding about our late check-in due to traffic. The hotel itself was beautifully presented and felt really homely. The location was great for getting around Helensburgh, right on the sea front, so easily walk to any of the local amenities.

Honestly, only as a slight niggle, as my son and I were in a twin room, and the bathroom door was slightly see through.

The location is fantastic right on the sea/river front. The whole building was tastefully decorated and the bed was sooooo comfortable. The hand soap smelt lovely and the staff were friendly. We thought that we only got continental breakfast included but to our surprise staff asked what our egg preference was and after a short wait a beautiful cooked breakfast was brought over.

Could do with a side entrance for guests to check into their rooms rather than having to carry luggage through the middle of a busy bar / restaurant on a Saturday evening. Room was a little bit dusty but otherwise clean. Could do with another staff member on duty during breakfast for hotel guests.

The whole experience from start to end was amazing. The staff at the hotel were welcoming and attentive. I would highly recommend this place. It was absolutely spotless. I would use the the word immaculate. If anything the price of the actual hotel is a bit higher than others in the local area but you get what you pay for. Once again the staff are so lovely and friendly

For me which is a preference they don’t do any local draught beers or lagers. It’s more a taste thing. Can’t please everyone all the time.

Poor mattress in room , poor pillows also. Lazy room cleaner , room not serviced despite leaving the sign showing to be cleaned. Pillow cases not put on properly, only hoovered once in a 6 night stay , cups not washed , tea making facilities not topped up , one toilet roll left

The staff were just so friendly, even though we felt a bit self conscious walking into a pub with kids we wre immediately welcomed. The whole place is just lovely and we'd stay there again in a heartbeat.

It is probably a bit churlish to say the coffee isn't great but the coffee at breakfast wasn't great. That isn't the fault of the staff, who piled on all the yummies in the continental breakfast, its just a thing. The coffee in the rooms is good though.

Staff were lovely. There was a small issue with our room initially but the staff dealt with it quickly and offered us a drink while we waited. Room was lovely, really spacious and comfy. Would definitely recommend.

The door to the bathroom is a glass door with some shading areas, however you can see through it completely.

Location was very central. Food was excellent and great value. Bar/restaurant area was nice and had a bit more character than a typical hotel bar. Record player in room was pretty cool.

The staff were all nice and friendly but also seemed a bit inexperienced on the hospitality side of things. Some fairly minor details went unnoticed and made things a little chaotic at times. Room was roasting hot in October with no heating on. Shower at its coldest was still very warm. No ironing board.

We had a couple of minor issues when we arrived but the team at the Riva went out of their way to remedy these and we had a superb stay, the rooms were well furnished, immaculately clean and the food in the restaurant was excellent.

Rooms were small for a couple, but were advertised as “small double” so this isn’t a complaint just saying that it really was a “small double”.

I rarely leave reviews but what a great wee place! The location is fantastic, a stones throw from the beach front. It’s beautifully decorated and the rooms are immaculate, the bed was extremely comfortable and the bar and restaurant was warm and cosy, the food and drinks were great. Really can’t fault this place! My partner and I like to bring our pup along on our wee adventures and this is by far the most dog friendly hotel we’ve visited so far! A special thank you to Kristina who is so lovely for looking after us and making sure we had everything we could have needed during our stay. Creed our American bully loved the attention too! We rarely visit the same place twice but we will definitely be back. soon I hope! We had a great weekend.
