A really interesting listed house (and greenhouse) with dramatic and stylish decor throughout, thanks to the owner's personal artistic skills. Our large room at the front has special views down the Clyde to Arran, and is also en suite. Dino's original ice cream on Clyde Street remains as good as ever 50 years on!

We know the town well, but you should be ready for about a 15 minute walk into town and the seafront and the uphill return journey. An excellent way to let dinner in one of Helensburgh's great eateries settle!

From the minute you glide up the drive and park in front of the beautiful mansion house you are given a warm welcome by Lesley with your choice of tea or coffee on hand. The rooms were stunning and beautifully presented, as good as any luxury hotel I have stayed and I have been luck to stay at few! It was also a delight to browse through Lesley's vast art collections and also her own incredible work too. The gardens and the views across to Arran are also a stunning bonus. Thank you!

The reason for losing one point in rating was not having our own en-suite bathroom. One of the rooms does have an en-suite bathroom but this was already occupied and I didn't mid sharing the beautiful spacious bathroom with my colleague!

Location approximately half way between town and the Hill House. I had a lovely visit to the latter in the afternoon. Despite work going on in the garden and conservatory area, the house itself is immaculate. It was very convenient to leave the car parked to allow us to get to meetings and to visit the Hill House. Room 1 has beautiful views and is very spacious. Beautiful characterful bathroom!

We found the quilt and red cover very heavy and hot but bed very comfortable. We would have liked more selection of continental breakfast, eg grapefruit segments, etc. I'm aware that ordering breakfast the night before is not popular with many people but we do like this in smaller establishments and it would perhaps be of benefit to the hosts too.

The location as it was 15 nins or so from the town. The beautiful garden. The stunning property. The interior which was lovingly and thoughtfully decorated throughout. The amazing room we had which was huge. The views from the room down to the river. The delicious breakfast. The friendly hosts (Lesley and Simon) who were very informative about the local amenities.

There was nothing to not like.

Beautiful guest house which has the feel of a mini stately home. Very friendly and welcoming. Only 10 minutes walk to the waterfront and 2 minutes to Helensburgh Upper train station.

We had the room with the private bathroom which is across the landing. May not be for everyone. We feel it’s worth it though to stay in the Louis Room with its ornate ceiling and magnificent views over Helensburgh and the water.

Beautiful property and restored mansion. Excellent breakfast and friendly staff. Large rooms with great views.

Overall rating would have been 10 except for the way our room was finished. Room itself was large and clean with view of garden and ocean beyond. However, room was finished in dark red/burgundy and green which made the whole room feel rather dark and a little like a room you might expect to find in a brothel (not that I would know). Also, carpet in the bathroom can't be very sanitary. We had a chance to view other rooms in the house and they were bright and airy and nicely finished. Would stay here again in a different room.

Host was so pleasant, offering tea on arrival and a good chat, recommending the newly opened leisure centre in town for a swim and sauna on a rainy morning. If you find yourself with a similar morning or afternoon free we would recommend it too. The hosts generally couldn't have been more helpful, accommodating an early breakfast on our last day. The house is grand and rather a treat for us to enjoy after 2 weeks on the road. Well located with a short walk to town. We saw a superb sunset and enjoyed Loch Lomond during the day. Good breakfast too.

Very little, bread at breakfast could have been fresher.

Gorgeous house in a lovely location run by a very friendly and accommodating couple. We arrived after a lengthy cycle and were warmly welcomed with a cup of tea in our spacious, elegant room, where we sat enjoying beautiful views out over the attractive gardens with the island of Arran in the distance. Within easy reach of NTS Charles Rennie MacIntosh Hill House which is well worth a visit. Breakfast was delicious and plenty of it! Secure storage for our ebikes was provided on arrival.

Couldn’t fault this stay. Our only regret is that we had only booked to stay one night!

Grounds are beautiful.

Initially we were shown to a room we did not reserve (we reserved the en-suite). The en-suite we did finally move into had a bath/shower which is not a good combination for a senior. We showered in the shared bathroom as it had a separate shower unit. When we arrived at the required checking time there was no one there. We called the owner and she supplied us with a combination to a lockbox. The woman who takes care of the guests arrived about an hour later. She was very nice but we expected to have someone meet us when we arrived and not have to fend for ourselves.

Everything was absolutely wonderful! From communication prior to our arrival (we were delayed) to them helping us find someplace that was still open to get takeaway when we finally did arrive, to the wonderful breakfast the next morning, it was a much-needed respite after a long trip. I only wish we could have stayed longer! Also, it was a great place to be with our 7-month old. They had a high chair ready for him, offered a cot, and treated him like a welcome guest (including not batting an eye at his throwing food all over the floor...)

Nothing--our stay was amazing.
