My wife and i have stayed in the Dalmahoy for a few years. We are delighted with the welcome, warmth, aspect and service that we receive every time we stay - standards are always high Breakfast is very good and my wife who is a vegetarian thoroughly enjoys her breakfast. /we rarely have dinner as we are in Edinburgh to see our son and his family

Our room was not cleaned and beds made. We reported this to Reception as we signed out of the hotel We were told someone from the Hotel would call us after we arrived home - we are still waiting. So really disappointed

The hotel has an amazing location with lush greenery - with the golf estate that was a bonus. Although it is heritage hotel the rooms were spacious and very clean. We had a book breakfast with our room and it did have a lovely spread of hot and cold items. However, would have prefered if the hot dishes are changed on a daily basis - as it can get very repetitive for guests staying for over 2-3 days in a row.

Lovely surroundings & a great leisure club. The Brasserie was nice for our evening meal.

The bedroom was a bit dark and hot when we arrived, but was clean, comfortable and had everything we required. Was let down by booking. com though. Had opted for the deal including breakfast but when arrived at the hotel, this was not supplied in the information sent to them from booking.com. This is not the 1st time that this has happened, so in future I am going to screenshot the confirmation page when making the booking. The receipt received is vague and only refers to the total amount paid, so I had no proof that I had opted for the deal with breakfast. If I had known this would happen, I would have booked directly with the hotel as it was the same price, I only opted to book with booking.com as it included breakfast (apparently) Not happy!!

great location - looked pretty on in and outside. fun to go on an adventure and particularly liked the giant chessboard outside.

the staff were ok but felt as if we were judged and didn’t seem like they wanted to check us in. TV also wasnt connected to the internet and overall just expected better service for the price.

Comfortable rooms, excellent breakfast and restaurants. Great facilities (e.g. made use of swimming pool and top class fitness/strength-training gym). Beautiful green/nature spaces offering quiet time (including golf facilities). Great location for exploring the region (20 mins to Edinburgh, Livingston or Forth Bridges; near Currie for train to Glasgow, and only 10mins to Edinburgh airport).

As with most hotels, room doors close with a violent thud (unless guests gently close with consideration). This is disturbing when guests/neighbors would move around late evening and super early in the morning.

Breakfast during the week was fantastic, at the weekend it was really very busy, so had to wait in line but the line moved relatively quickly. The restaurant lead, Angie?, was very good, always attentive, kept moving always and clearly well experienced. A complimentary drink per person was a nice touch, but ended up using them for hot chocolate. The setting was beautiful, and we were able to use the leisure centre facilities, which were in very good condition and cleanliness also.

Breakfast at the weekend was super busy, but handled well with the number of guests. They had extra staff, though sadly one young female staff seemed very lost and wandered about doing not a lot at all both days! Lacking in coffee/tea in the room and no hot chocolate supplies at all (I don't drink tea/coffee) we, requested hot chocolate but was told they don't have any and it was an extra charge at breakfast too, again when tea/coffee was complimentary.

The location, situation, the building and the staff were all superb. It was nice to see a little of the buildings history and everyone was very friendly. Our room was on the ground floor and despite a few minor issues quite comfortable. The breakfast and food in the main restaurant were fabulous too.

The towel rail would not heat up and given the time of year this meant that the bathroom was cold, the shower was below par in that the water pressure was insufficient. In addition, we had some problems with the TV which took until the evening of the second day to sort out, not great when we were only staying 2 days. None of these were showstoppers however, I was expecting more than £20 to be deducted from our bill for the inconvenience.

Staff was very helpful and friendly. Got us taxis when needed and were kind enough to hold our luggage when we arrived early as well as after we checked out for several hours. The bus is about a 15 minute walk from hotel and takes about 45 minutes to get to city center. I must admit, it would be nice to have a golf cart shuttle for that walk, especially when returning and after walking around all day, as going back to hotel it’s uphill, but the walk isn’t difficult. We did not swim or golf or use the main restaurant. The bar near the front desk was nice though. Had a couple late snacks and drinks when we returned from city.

Walking back from bus after long day in town was pretty easy but tiring as it’s uphill. Golf cart shuttle or something would be nice. Some of the carpet could use freshening up where it’s looking worn.

The staff were always friendly and helpful. They couldn’t have done more to make us feel welcome and valued. They interacted with the whole family and truly made us feel looked after. Our autistic child struggles with different foods and when we requested for a particular food that was not on the menu, they happily obliged! We are very grateful that they could accommodated us so easily. The pool area was clean and the water was always warm and not too busy.

The rooms were so far away from the main part of the hotel. We got a bit lost on several locations due to the layout. The rooms were a bit on the snug size for the price. Bathroom was a bit tired looking. Room service was slow due to how busy the hotel was. However staff were super apologetic.

We loved the place from the moment you drove in with the great gardens and golf course to the entrance which our kids were convinced was a castle. The staff on reception couldn't do enough for you and we're very polite and explained everything very well. It's a bit of a maze to find your room but plenty of staff to help out. Neil the concierge was fantastic and great with the kids, even explained where it was best to go on the royal mile and what to look out for, making them on a habd map for us. We used the pool which could be a bit warmer and do with a Jacuzzi but more than adequate for what we needed. The Pentland Restaurant was lovely and again the staff couldn't help enough, even the guy in training was great. The breakfast was lovely and more than enough to choose from. Overall a great place to stay and only a 10-15 minute drive into Edinburgh or take a cab like us which was £25 from the door to the royal mile. Loved our stay and thank you to all that made it great.
