The Westward Ho Hotel is an excellent place to stay in Folkstone and is located in a safe and quiet neighborhood at the seafront. The hotel offered us to check-in at a late hour since we had a long drive on the same day and everything worked very fluently and the hotel receptionist was very friendly & helpful.
There is nothing to complain about which the hotel could directly influence or improve. The parking situation is a bit unclear though, there are parking lots on the street next to the hotel which require a parking permit. New hotel guests that are unaware of the situation might ignore these parking spaces - while in fact it is possible to conveniently purchase a parking permit for small money at the reception. A hint in the booking conformation could help other guests to choose the right parking lot more quickly.

The hotel is located in one of the older "posher" areas of Folkestone - very large houses now mostly converted to flats. It is handy for buses and about a half mile from the railway station. The rear rooms overlook the Folkestone Leas from which it is a short walk down the cliff path to a park and the beach. The room I had was a nicely furnished double room with an ensuite shower room. Both rooms were a good size and the bathroom was very well fitted with a large walk in shower and plenty of drawers and a cupboard for your toiletries.
There is just the one central staircase in the middle of the house and no lift. It does mean that particularly if you're on a lower floor you may hear people come in the front door, and a few guests were a little noisy coming in late at night chattering away as they climbed the stairs. You may also occasionally hear a dog bark because the hotel accommodates pets. There is no manned reception desk.

There's staff very friendly, accommodation was clean, continental breakfast was better than I had expected. And the sunshine lasted all weekend.
There's nothing to dislike about my stay, well other than some random person knocking on my room door @02.15 asking if I had light for her cigarette. I was expecting a hotel staffed 24/7, but there not being staff present throughout the night didn't cause any issues, well other than the interruption for a lighter.

The location was easily accessible by bus from the railway station. I don't drive, so I use public transport. There was a Tesco convenience store five minutes walk away. The area is a small estate of 150 year old listed buildings in good repair and quite impressive. There is a private garden area behind the row of houses, and the Leas cliff top walking area is beyond the garden. It was quiet at night - no noisy traffic or noise from people leaving pubs. The breakfast was mainly cold - cereals, yoghurt, cold meats, but I was easily able to obtain porridge every morning from the very pleasant kitchen staff. I had a "comfort" room, which was more expensive than the "budget" rooms. A double bed with duvet, a very adequate pine chest of drawers, touch sensitive bedside lamps and a very nice shower room with a large shower space. two shower heads. and plenty of room. The bathroom fittings were modern and immaculately clean. The hotel provided a bath sheet, very fluffy and thick, which I liked.
A little bit of neglect perhaps? The front door was old and shabby and I felt sorry for it! I daresay as it's a listed building they can't go to Wicks and just buy a new door. It would probably need to be bespoke and very expensive. There IS a lift - but it is clearly broken and out of use. I expect the cost of replacement is pretty prohibitive. It's a tall building with four floors - I would not like to have to carry luggage to the top floor because of the lack of a lift. A very kind staff member carried mine up to my room for me.

Missed the planned ferry, which led to a very late check in gone midnight. The young man who checked us was fantastic and could not do enough for us, regardless of the ungodly hour. A credit to the hotel. As it was dark, we did not realise the view from our room until we woke. Also fantastic and the location perfect.. We have definitely found our go to place to stay when travelling to UK to see family. Can’t recommend it enough.
Nothing really

Seaview Room was fantastic and the staff was excellent - everyone was very kind, welcoming and friendly.
Perhaps worth investing in some soundproof doors or reducing the gap between the doors and the frame - noises from the corridor sounded as happening in the room. Softer pillow covers?

From arriving at the Westward I was impressed with the service - specifically by Shae, who welcomed us. A wonderful blend of detail and the need to get settled quickly led to us being in the room with dinner planned in less than 10 minutes. Packed breakfasts for early morning departures took addressed yet another challenge having arrived late that evening. People make the difference. Shae is brilliant at his job.

A lovely old fashioned place to stay just next to the seaside
The bathroom is very basic, could be more roomy. There's a certain amount of draft coming through the top floor windows, it could be an issue during the winter time. Don't get me wrong, Westward Ho is a great place to stay, just as a growing business could do with a bit of TLC, and it can certainly make it a perfect charismatic place to stay!

The room was huge and clean. Lovely fluffy towels and water, shower gels etc and Lovely touch of a chocolate each.
Breakfast was disappointing thought it was buffet breakfast with toast cereals etc. We got a packed breakfast instead with a cereal bar pan au chocolate a banana and a tangerine and a juice carton.

The room was spectacular as was the view and security was perfect because only those with a key could enter the building.
The shower was a nightmare in every respect and the lack of soundproofing made my neighbours - both upstairs and next door - intolerably noisy.
