Great country pub with a lot of history. Staff all very lovely and nothing too much trouble. Our room had a gorgeous view of the rolling hills. Everything we needed for our stay. Room refreshed daily if you just ask. Breakfast nice options (pre order the day before) and good choice of toast, cereals, fruit and mini pastries. Tea and coffee good quality. We had dinner one night and again food was fab, top quality ingredients from the local farm. Have to give a special mention to Eve. She was absolutely fantastic, full of local knowledge and really enjoyed chatting with her, she made sure we were welcomed with open arms and had everything we wanted. She is a real credit to the pub.

Mattress could of been a little firmer but maybe thats personal preference and just maybe slightly more attention to deatil when dusting the rooms (especially round skirting boards). Other than that, wonderful place.

We liked the pub, as despite it being an old building with period features, it was really clean and modern inside. The rooms and bathrooms, have been done to a high standard and were really comfortable. With a nice view from our bedroom window. The food for both breakfast and dinner were cooked well and there was plenty of free on site parking.

The walls were not soundproof enough. We could clearly, hear people talking in the corridor. While we had no problems with noise on our first night. Unfortunately we were awaken up by a baby crying, during the second night and really early the next morning and had the parents talking from then on. We also had someone on the other side of us, coughing throughout the night. Making us realise, just how thin the walls actually were.

The hospitality of the staff is second to none, they were so friendly and accommodating. I arrived late and they arranged a ploughman’s platter for me and were so kind. The bar is lively and friendly, shout out to Eve and the chef Gareth for going above and beyond for a weary traveller. The rooms are modern and have all you need, good hairdryers, modern bathrooms, a small desk and plenty of plugs/USB points. All fresh and cleanly decorated. The room got a little warm through the night, but there was a fan. Breakfast was so good, generously sized and good quality food.

The shower spilled over a lot on to the floor, I didn’t want to get my hair wet and used the spray shower rather than the overhead bit and it smooshed all over the floor. I hate to Sue more towels than necessary but I had to use another bath sheet to mop up the overspill. Minor inconvenience for the quality of my stay.

What can I say this please from the time of arrival exceeded all expectations, we was attending a wedding near by and due to the timings we was restricted by the staff here was able to do everything they could including a earlier check in. The room was very clean and very homely and very modern, although we spent minimal time it was enough for us to want to re book and take the kids on a little break. The little touches was unexpected, there was fresh milk and fresh orange juice in the fridge and a good choice of hot drinks. Once we ventured downstairs for breakfast in the morning we was welcomed again by very friendly staff and the nice cozy restaurant/ pub was amazing you could picture a nice evening there relaxed to enjoy good food and a drink, The spread for breakfast and choice of food was brilliant (including an option for a Bloody Mary) I recommend the full English the locally sourced sausages were lovely. This place will want you going back

I didn’t stay long enough.

Beautiful location in gorgeous countryside. It’s very peaceful! The room was a generous size and very comfortable. We loved the bar / dining area. The food was all very good, and they were very helpful about special requests. Breakfast was really lovely too. It was just so homely and personal, everyone was so friendly. We really hope to return!!

Just for your information the shower we had really sprays out unavoidably onto the bathroom floor. It’s just a design issue and we’d be concerned in time it will damage the nice flooring. It also meant we’d to use our towels to mop it up.

The Manager Richard is a credit to his profession. His background working with Rick Stein, Jamie Oliver and in Michelin Starred restaurants shone through (he didn't volunteer this information I drew this out of him) The Breakfast was hot and tasty, the plaice fab and fish and chips a treat. He couldnt have been more helpful The rooms are newly and tastefully appointed, big bed with new sheets, shower great, big tv with all the apps. Bar was cosy with a wide range of drinks and cosy corners. I was there for work it was a tranquil haven honestly no traffic noise! Lovely

I arrived by taxi. Had to ring quite a few (9) before I found one willing to take me to frome. Most had School Runs.... Best for drivers!

One of the best pubs we have stayed in and definitely worth the drive down a country lane ! From the welcome to the departure everything was superb. This pub has been exceptionally well renovated and the little details are wonderful. Rooms are bright and airy, bed very comfortable and bathroom was excellent - again, all about the little touches. Ploughmans in the evening was so tasty and the breakfast had everything you could want. Eve, Richard and all the staff were so friendly and helpful and even the locals made us feel welcome :) Highly recommend and hope this pub goes from strength to strength

It wasn't something that bothered us but somewhere to hang your hand towels in the bathroom would be an advantage although there are plenty of hanging spaces in the actual bedroom

The staff were very friendly and accommodating, showed us the room, highlighting how to access the building out of hours, and answered all questions. The style of the inn was country with a comfortable modern feel - the garden was exceptionally nice. The room was very comfortable and the shower facilities were great with good quality products and towels provided to. Orange juice and water complimentary in the fridge and the breakfast was lovely with a good range of hot options avaliable (you are asked to pre-order on arrival) along with pastries, a cereal options, toast and a range of coffees to choose from - even had the ingredients to make a Bloody Mary if you wished. Area is quiet and tranquil, and we even had a view of the Westbury Chalk Horse from our window. Decent sized carpark and even a little telephone library out front.

We stayed during June and it was very hot during the night. There was no AC, which is common in the UK, so it was not unexpected, but a fan in the room would have been appreciated. Still found the stay comfortable, would just bring a fan on next stay.

Lovely quiet location in the countryside. Good car parking, top quality decor and room was beautiful. Very comfortable bed, good sized room, excellent bathroom and shower, great facilities including stocked mini fridge included. They obviously put a lot of care into making your stay as enjoyable as possible. Quality towels, linen, soaps, tea, coffee, etc in the room, even supply tissues and cotton buds! Nice dining and pub areas. Reasonable bar prices. Superb food and friendly staff easy to deal with. Awesome full English breakfast perfectly cooked, and usual continental extras. Fabulous stay that added to a very relaxing enjoyable visit to Longleat Safari Park, 15 mins drive away. Excellent value for money. Would certainly stay again and very highly recommended.

Disliked nothing! Perfect overnight stay. To be hyper critical a fan would have been nice during the hot heatwave weather. I would still use the place again though, and highly recommend to anyone else.

Have to be a nitpick as I liked everything! Dinner was delicious too but perhaps the peppercorn sauce could be improved—the steaks were just right.
