We made a late booking after a terrible experience at another establishment and arrived about 30 minutes later. We received a lovely welcome. Our room was very comfortable. The food was good. The Inn is very dog friendly which made our stay even more enjoyable. Would recommend.

There was a bit of a problem with the shower screen in the bathroom it didn't fit so the bathroom floor became very wet. Limited choice for breakfast but what we had was fine.

Excellant location . Friendly pub with excellant and helpful staff . Would like to especially mention the young girl in the bar who kindly got me some lemon on my last night as been suffering with a cough at night. Also she recommended the roast and we had an abundance of meat left over from lunchtime menu . The staff couldn’t do enough for you . The breakfast was excellant nothing was too much trouble

Nothing

Breakfast was very good. We also had an evening meal and it was excellent. The room was clean with usual facilities and ensuite bathroom. Bathroom could maybe do with an update, but was clean and functional. We had out dog with us and the staff were very welcoming to her. Overall a lovely place and nice and friendly people.

There was nothing that we didn't like. Just as I mentioned before that maybe the ensuite bathroom could do with an upgrade.

Shower and room were great, recent refurb. Decent parking.

Waitress at dinner first night not helpful, insisted a dish on the special board was a mains which in fact was a starter which we ordered no problem Saturday night. As Friday was a special occasion for us it spoiled the meal a bit. Waitress for the dessert was lovely and young girls waitressing on the Saturday were doing their best on a busy night . Need more staff imo and check out was just leave your key, no one on desk to give a personal touch which was something missing throughout our stay.

We had such a lovely stay. The room was spacious, had a lovely powerful shower, and was warm. Our room was dog friendly too which meant we could stay with our pooch. The staff was so friendly, the breakfast had plenty of choice, and we loved having a pub as part of the hotel so we could have dinner on-site. The hotel is also well located, and was perfect for a visit to Kendal.

Nothing really.

A good welcome on our arrival. All staff we came into contact with were very friendly an nothing was too much trouble. Rooms were well presented, clean and cosy. We had dinner each evening and the menu had a good selection and “yummy” desserts. Good idea to prebook your chosen breakfast and time. Breakfast was well cooked and portions to set you up for the day.

No issues. Well done. The Wi-Fi at some times was not brilliant, but this was not the fault of the hotel.

Well cooked and hearty breakfast, nice coffee and friendly service. Our room although small was comfortable, nicely furnished and decorated. The shower was easy to use with plenty of hot water. Good food from the restaurant, again well portioned. We had our small but well behaved dog with us, so she was allowed to sit under our table in the bar area. We were a distance from our relative in Kendal but we could usually make the journey in 15 minutes. We believe the Gilpin is very well situated for exploring the Lake District.

Not a thing.

Everything was perfect from start to end. Staff were all so friendly and helpful. The room clean and comfortable and the meals were fabulous. The Sunday roast was exceptional, probably the best we have had. Such a friendly chilled out atmosphere. We thoroughly recommend this location to anyone.

Nothing, everything perfect would definitely stay here again when visiting the Lake District.

We arrived quite late. Just 10 minutes before the kitchen close. The Lady who was dealing with check inn and also bar made sure we have a dinner order quickly so we don’t stay hungry. She really made the effort and a fantastic impression. The food was absolutely delicious. The service outstanding. After she showed us the room and answered all our questions. Lovely stay . Thanks

The food we had was very good and of good quality. Nothing was too much for the staff, the were always very helpful and answered any questions we had.

The bathroom we had was a little outdated - the size was adequate it just needs a little refresh in our opinion like a replacement shower as the water pressure wasn't great and the shower pole was rather loose.
