The location was ideal, on the edge of the town centre adjoining the river. We had a family room (room 003) which overlooked the river. Free parking was provided in the hotel car park. Nice stay.

The hotel needs to improve its cleaning regime. The carpet in our room hadn’t been hoovered properly (lots of dog hairs) and there was a large spider over the double bed when we arrived. I trapped it and let it out only for another to appear, who also survived. There were also spiders webs on the outside of the windows. We had a drink in the bar both evenings and found every table to be sticky to the touch. ☹️

The hotel is very convenient for exploring Kendal. Our room overlooked the River Kent. In fact, it was immediately adjacent to the river, so was quiet at night. Breakfast was a, mostly very, good buffet. We ate one evening meal, which was excellent; we both opted for rump steaks and they were some of the best we have eaten in quite some time. The wine list was very good and reasonably priced, as was the meal. There was also complimentary, covered car parking within 100 yards of the hotel

Porridge was very thin and of poor quality. (I'm being picky, because the rest of breakfast was very good!)

We got a free upgrade to a triple room so the room was nice and spacious with big windows and lots of natural light. Great view of the river and perfect location for exploring Kendal. There was a fan in the room which was handy for the very warm weekend. We also made use of the sauna and the spa. Plenty of free covered parking and also Lidl just down the road.

The pool was quite small and there was no space to lounge around. We had to keep the windows open and it was quite noisy with drunk teenagers outside at some point, but it wasn't too bad as it quietened down at around 10pm.

everything except when we arrived we had accidentally locked ourselves in the adjoining room so we rang reception to let them know and she thought I was rude when I spoke to her. I said to her this is how I speak normally and we just arrived from London with the kids and don’t expect to be able to not access the adjoining room via either rooms. (one of the doors kept locking back and can’t be open from one side, it’s ridiculous) I literally had to ask her whether someone was coming up with extra keys so I could access the other room or whether I needed to come down. I would have given our stay five stars if she had not spoken to me the way she had. all the staff were friendly otherwise.

Lovely clean room with a modern bathroom. Great choice of toiletries and hot drinks in the room. The hot tub was a lovely hot temperature. Plenty of free parking for guests just a few meters from the hotel. A lift was available and also stair lifts, I presume for in-between floors. Breakfast and evening meals were great with a good choice of food and drink. We will stay again.

The swimming pool was smaller than anticipated and the water looked cloudy but I presume it was clean. Jacuzzi could have been safer with a hand rail.

friendly staff upon checking in. location is perfect as it’s across road from my college campus. amazing bath with toiletries supplied. very comfortable bed!

you have to pre book your breakfast before 10pm the night before. this wasn’t great for me as I was doing a theatre production and had just gotten to my room and read that information. I paid for breakfast and ended up not being able to have it. I tried ringing reception before 10pm and didn’t get an answer. reception closes at 10pm too. also the closing of room doors is extremely loud but this isn’t a major issue. overall I very much enjoyed my stay and absolutely will be returning :)

The staff were very welcoming to the dogs and children. We loved the place, the staff and the rooms. There aren’t fridges in the room but excellent tea coffee and biscuits provided. Room was spotless and plenty of fresh towels and comfortable beds. Thank you for a great stay

The Spa had good features however some of the furnishings need an update, rust on the soap dispensers, grout in hot tub needed replacing, floor and showers in changing room needed updating. Jacuzzi buttons were stiff and the corner jet fountain was never on - I assume broken or not used much. Food in the restaurant was slightly pricey for what was received. Table a little sticky. But these things are easy to remedy with a little care and attention which the hotel needs.

Just wanted to say a huge thank you to Jen and all the staff at the Riverside Hotel Kendal. The service we received was first class from the moment we booked. The moment we arrived. To the day we left. Our parents booked in from Monday to Wednesday Morning. We called the hotel and booked them in from the Sat also along we my brothers and all the Grandchildren. 12 of us intotal. All the staff looked after us really well. Nothing was too much. Thanks to the bar staff, especially the late shift as we didn't leave the bar until after 1am. Breakfast in the morning was lovely. Quality ingredients and again the staff so friendly. Thank you for helping us surprise our parents for their 50th Wedding Anniversary. Jen Thank You for all you done for us and please thank all the staff again from us. I know you will make sure our parents enjoy the rest of the stay.

The location was brilliant. Very nice when arriving, lovely staff lovely environment. Facilities were brilliant, used the pool etc. really enjoyed it! Had a drink in the bar was lovely feeling. Room was lovely, great drinks selection, lovely shower and facilities (TV & Hairdryer)

At some point both nights was a noise that woke us both up. Sounded as though something was happening in a sense of pipes/heating being constantly kick started. Although not against dogs being allowed to the hotel, it seemed they were left alone, which on both mornings their barking woke us up after finally getting back to sleep. Was constantly happening, very disturbing. Essentially spoiling the relaxation get away time.
