The restaurant was very disappointing. The menu showed there were vegetarian options available, but was told they didn't have any. Ended up with a so called salad, which turned out to be a dish of lettuce leaves. The person serving kept getting orders wrong, delivering food to incorrect table. He just didn't seem to care, he wasn't at all focused on the job.

Room was good size over looking the river. Amenities - Pool , jacuzzi was good, but jacuzzi not working to its full potential, decent steam & Sauna rooms. Staff were very helpful and pleasant. Great location easy access to Kendal centre and perfect location if travelling by Train. The new Bar & Lounge renovations are really pleasant surroundings and great to relax in for food and drink.

the noise every now and again during the day, not sure where it was coming from, a staff member did mention it was probably the lift.

I really can’t complain. It’s a central location allowing us to walk to everything in Kendal. Free parking facility right by the hotel. All staff were pleasant. The bar / bistro area appears newly renovated and modern. I’m aware the leisure area of closed for refurb so clearly they invest in upgrading the place.

It’s not ‘didn’t like’ it neither here nor there what I’m going to say. Some people may feel the bedrooms are due a refurb / redecoration. We personally weren’t bothered as we had our dog with us which was awesome so we don’t need some pristine white marble room.

The room and its view, location and friendly helpful staff were worth every penny. The closeness to the bus and train station were very helpful for us and was our reason for booking. We would definitely stay here again if we were up this way.

Breakfast was OK, I didn't feel I ate £12 worth but what I had was nice enough. I felt the bar snacks were very expensive considering their size. £9 for 4 chicken wings is a lot of money. I liked the pool but the photos online make it look a lot bigger than it was and you couldn't relax there, just have a short small swim and sit in the sauna etc once the queue had subsided.

The position of the hotel is perfect. Central and overlooking river. Parking is definitely a bonus. Swimming pool and spa excellent. Good breakfast. Staff are what make this hotel - friendly, helpful, cheerful.

The bedroom decor and swimming area are slightly tired looking, but the bed was very comfortable and all facilities worked perfectly. One small observation and not the end of the world, but the toilet in the room could have been cleaned better between change overs.

Lovely staff. The room was a generous size for the price and it also had a gym and swimming pool.

I didn’t think the breakfast area was very clean. The tables were sticky, infact so stick that plates and cutlery stuck to them. One morning my Serviette was dirty and the cutlery was clean. The carpet was also dirty. Also, the shelves in my room were dusty and there were cobwebs with live small spiders around the window.

Nothing not to like during our stay. Location for station and shopping and transport perfect. Exceptionally clean. Cleaning staff to be commended. Did not have time or energy to use the pool/gym. I was actually very poorly over the time of our stay, but the views from the window and the comfortable bed were appreciated. Other half very much enjoyed the breakfast quality and array of options. Food available in the bar was tasty, well made and enjoyable. Not over priced. Would like to return when I am fully recovered and would recommend to others given it is a three star rating. Staff we encountered were all very nice. Thank you

The decor/furnishings are a little tired but very acceptable given the ratings but in no way detracts from the experience in my opinion. Only comment I would make is that the tables in dining area are sticky - caused by the varnish finish - not lack of cleanliness. They could be resanded and revived.

The hotel is located alongside the Rive Kent and has the most lovely vibe because of it, even when overcast, rainy and cold. The Reception, breakfast and property staff were helpful, professional, accommodating and excellent to deal with. My room was very comfortable and the bathroom was clean, well appointed and the heated towel rack is wonderful. The bed was comfortable and the bedding is very clean and of a good quality. The breakfast is a highlight ( the Chef made me porridge, no sugar, no cream, just plain hot porridge ) it's possibly the best breakfast overall at a hotel I've had in quite a while. Being in easy walking distance to Kendal high street, associated shopping and eateries, pubs, cafes, local transport, The Riverside makes for an ideal landing pad for visitors and business people alike. I'd love to return for another stay and spend more time in the district exploring the beautiful Cumbrian countryside, villages and towns. Worth noting: the local food, bakery and coffee adds to the daily charm of Kendal.

On occasion, I could hear an odd 'knocking' throughout the night in my room. Not the hotel's fault: because of the rolling train strike, I missed a nights' stay and a day to see the countryside.

Loved the swim, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi this was very relaxing and facilities were great. Reception staff were very welcoming and friendly too.

We went in the bar and was told there was no lager, this is probably the most popular drink and to not have any was disappointing and therefore we had to go elsewhere when we wanted to have a few drinks in the hotel before going out, and the bar tender wasn’t very friendly.

The location was ideal, on the edge of the town centre adjoining the river. We had a family room (room 003) which overlooked the river. Free parking was provided in the hotel car park. Nice stay.

The hotel needs to improve its cleaning regime. The carpet in our room hadn’t been hoovered properly (lots of dog hairs) and there was a large spider over the double bed when we arrived. I trapped it and let it out only for another to appear, who also survived. There were also spiders webs on the outside of the windows. We had a drink in the bar both evenings and found every table to be sticky to the touch. ☹️
