Lovely location and very stylish quirky ground floor layout. Our warm and well appointed room with 'top end' shower and comfy bed, was a delight. Our dinner and breakfast were amazing! The intriguing menus were an adventure! Chrisie and her friendly staff were very attentive and helpful, without being over fussy. We had a lovely evening in the restaurant, with fellow diners who were clearly enjoying the ambiance as much as we were x

The only thing to comment on, was the noise of a kitchen extractor fan below our room. This woke us up in the morning, and was quite intrusive, as the location of this beautiful establishment is so very peaceful otherwise. We will definitely stay again, but will request the room across the hallway next time x

The staff were very nice and helped us find the place (it wasn't that easy to find at night). The room was lovely, the whole estate seemed nice. We probably didn't make a lot of our stay, as we came late and had to leave early - we just needed a location near the Plumpton Collage for the night and this made a lot of sense. Maybe we will come back and make more of it next time.

They probably do a very nice breakfast and we were looking forward to it, but unfortunately they only were able to serve it after we had to leave around 8am. We got packed breakfast instead, which was nice of them, but it wasn't great (but they tried).

The room and ensuite shower room had been recently refurbished and were spacious and comfortable. The dinner was exceptional and more than matched a dinner earlier this year at a 2 Michelin starred London restaurant. The service was prompt and friendly. There was a very good choice of dishes for breakfast, all prepared to order. If anything the full English breakfast was over generous but delicious.

The wooden external staircase which gives access to the rooms would benefit from being redesigned with an additional tread so as to make the steps slightly easier for old legs (there is a warning on the website that the stairs are not suitable for people with disabilities).

The decor and the setting. Lovely outdoor spaces! The staff were friendly and helpful.

Perhaps I ordered wrong. The food I ordered was a little disappointing and pricey. The French toast with blackberry compote sounded better than it tasted. The quinoa salad was not particularly tasty. My husband was very pleased with his orders though. Our room, though comfortable, was too small to be called comfortable. The bathroom, on the other hand, was spacious and nice. I do wish people would furnish shelves in bathrooms though. It is an annoying trend. The only shelf was used by the staff for stacking towels.

From the moment I arrived i was made welcome, evening meal was delicious and breakfast well I have never tasted such good Eggs benedict seriously it was the best i have ever had. Room was fabulous the bed comfortable all in all wow a brilliant package

Having to carry bags through the bar/restaurant to go out a back door and up stairs into rooms and down again was a little challenging, perhaps a residents gate from carpark to the rear of the property would be a good addition, just a thought. The only little niggle

The breakfast was excellent, one of the best, beautifully cooked and a lovely setting. The sunshine helped also. Staff attentive but also quite relaxed. Gardens were pretty but an area is currently in work. Nice touches of tea/coffee, homemade elderflower cordial. Our room was lovely, very clean and modern, nice colour scheme. Some nice walking routes departing from the pub/hotel.

Room was slightly smaller than expected but comfortable, however it was an unseasonably warm day and the room had no air conditioning. Normally that wouldn't be a problem, but i think some people would struggle with the heat, and the room overlooked the gardens, and though there are shutters privacy could be an issue.

Our room was beautiful. The Food was fab. The corner room number 2 with views to the green space is really nice. The team was very friendly. They accommodated all our needs and went beyond and above to help out. I was unwell and my daughter had a workshop that day and they made all they could to help me stay in the warmth and extended my checkout without charging me for it. Thanks for that.

You need to be aware that you need to walk outdoors to reach the restaurant. Maybe because I was unwell and it was rainy I did find that a bit uncomfortable but that’s the architecture of the place and no one’s fault. But otherwise everything was perfect.

Pretty much faultless. Rooms are tastefully decorated, modern, warm and comfortable with a large walk-in shower. The property is in a beautiful location on the South Downs, very quiet and scenic, a great base for walkers whilst not being too far away from the town of Lewes. Staff are super friendly and helpful too. The standard of food in the restaurant is exceptionally high. Very nice to have a quality meal after a long day and stumble upstairs to your room. The included breakfast was the best I've been served and puts the big name London hotels to shame.

Nothing for us. But you should talk to the hotel before booking if you have impaired mobility or don't drive.

beautiful location in the countryside with lots of outdoor space. lovely rooms and dining areas. gorgeous bedroom and en-suite. Lots of parking. Lovely toiletries.

Liked everything but just a few minor suggestions would make it perfect. Bedside lights looked gorgeous but too bright. Positioning of sockets could be improved eg so can reach mirror with hairdryer. Lovely metal furniture was ‘noisy’ when used as a bedside cabinet. There was a fire alarm but no-one came to tell us it was ok. Nespresso machine wasn’t pre-filled as advised in booklet.

beautifully appointed room with lovely floor to ceiling tiled wall in shower room and lots of home comforts - slippers, bathrobe, coffee machine, fresh milk, home made biscuits. nothing was too much trouble - made to feel welcome and at ease by Christine. excellent breakfast - loved the generous fresh fruit platter too.

the only small issue was access up some steep stairs to the room and getting luggage across the sodden grass from the car park to the room area. a proper path would make it a lot more accessible.
