The location and the breakfast were excellent and the room was comfortable.
We were rather dismayed on arrival. After a whispered conversation with her colleague on the reception desk to confirm that our reservation had been made through booking.com, a £5 charge was demanded for parking. This had not been published anywhere and when I remarked that we had not been asked for this in April, I was told we should have paid this. We felt that booking.com should be aware as in this respect the price we paid did not match our expectations. Nor did we receive a receipt for this additional amount.

It was one of those hotels that rarely surpasses your expectation as we really just thought it was a town centre pub type hotel. It was far from that, fabulous service, fully refurbished a couple of years ago, staff outstanding (all of them - so pleasant), food top notch and it had an aire of historic elegance about it. We didn't realise it was part of a chain of another 42 properties "coaching inn group" - check them out as they have historic hotels all over the UK and we will most definitely be re-visiting this one but also trying others. Fabulous stay and rarely blown away by hotels but this one ticked all the boxes. Heath centre/gym and a lovely outside area also! - Excellent!

Didn’t have breakfast as very early start for a nearby hospital appointment hence our overnight stay
The bedroom was very hot when we arrived and there was no ventilation except the bathroom fan. Turned off the radiator but it was still a bit airless and the window wouldn't open at all. The bedding was lovely and clean but the duvet and pillows somewhat hard and sticky synthetic. Bathroom immaculate and newly refitted. Very spacious and plenty if nice hot water. Could do with a small tea table next to the arm chair. The restaurant was good, a little pricey perhaps. Nicely decorated for Christmas. Staff were all delightful!

The staff were lovely, the hotel decor and room was really nice and a great size, the food in the restaurant was very good, and they took great care when I told them I was gluten and dairy intolerant, thier fish and chips was GF and their was a dessert option too which was GF and DF. Great breakfast. Great service all round. There is plenty of parking at the hotel. Good location to be able to go off and sightsee the surrounding attractions.
We booked last minute and had a superior double, our room was located on the second (top floor), although it was not a problem for us, there were quite a few steep stairs (no lift as its a period property). It's a town centre location, and our room faced the street, so early Saturday morning was quite noisy from street noise, meaning no lay in. We didn't feel the bathroom was up to the standard of a superior room or the hotels rating. The toilet seat was wonky, and the shower taps/controls weren't great. The bathroom rad wasn't working, and there was a ceiling lamp out.

Welcoming and helpful staff. Lovely decor. Very comfortable, warm and spacious bedroom with desk and lovely easy chair. Beautifully prepared and presented food with attention to need for gluten free food.
Lack of lift - one of us had to walk up 49 stairs to access bedroom! As a senior with arthritic knees, quite an effort! Realise it's an ancient building, but have seen lifts in similar hotels - a pity this wasn't addressed in the recent refurbishment. Some closer attention needed to bathroom in 105 - mould on window frames and some of the shower tile grouting needs cleaned or renewed. The temperature of the shower is either cold or very hot - shower regulator needs attention. A luggage stand would be helpful.

Lovely reception staff on arrival friendly and professional. My room was very tastefully decorated and clean, it was cold though and the radiator wasn't working, but when I pointed this out an oil heater was brought to the room, which was adequate. The decor and the ambience in the hotel is first class. I didn't have breakfast but did eat in the restaurant and the food was very good and reasonably priced, and a good selection on the menu. Great location in the centre of Oswestry, I can definitely highly recommend The Wynnstay hotel.
I couldn't find anything to fault.

Location is great, centre of Oswestry. Car parking is very secure and plentiful. Breakfast was good. Decor is modern and comfortable. Restaurant food was very good. Room and bed were comfortable. Tea and coffee making in room was good.
Inconsistent cocktails in bar, even from their own list. Barman couldn't prepare a Bellini. Standard double room was small with room only for one easy chair. Our other room was a suite which was excellent. No resident's lounge and only a handful of comfortable seats in the bar. Horrible piped music outside next to the bowling green was too loud and completely out of character with the hotel, it spoiled the experience of sitting in the sun. Even Shazam could not identify this muzac.

We arrived early and the rooms weren't ready but the receptionist checked the mobile number and rang me when the rooms were ready. The rooms were bright, clean and had plenty of space. There was tea / instant coffee and also a coffee machine with pods. Breakfast offered a very good choice with cereals / yoghurts and then a cooked option. We ate in the restaurant for both evenings of our stay and although the service was initially a little slow on the first evening, more staff appeared and everything went well. The food was very good, good sized portions and a reasonable price. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and were knowledgeable about things to do in the area.

I have stayed here before. I have always had the same room, I guess because it is small and I'm travelling alone. Lovely, comfortable double bed but a decent single would be better. Everything worked great and good shower. As there is no lift the staff will carry your suitcase if asked. Car park is free for residents.
I notice you are no longer supplied with a robe. I really would appreciate a lift but understand it would be difficult to locate in in a very old building. I was askewd at check-in what time I wanted breakfast on the Sunday morning. This really restricts your freedom of movement the next day, e.g. if you want to lie in a little longer or have to leave earlier.

From the outset the exterior of the building and its garden and environs were very well presented. The interior common parts were likewise clean and beautifully decorated. We received a warm welcome at reception. Chris the manager made himself known and suggested that we occupy the private dining facility for dinner. The service from Chris and his staff was excellent. Likewise the food. All of the group were happy with their respective rooms which were very well appointed with excellent comfortable beds. Chris oversaw our early breakfast and was determined that we would not leave his hotel hungry. Chris is that (all too often) rare bird - a man eminently well suited to his job and one who as a manager is an exemplar to his staff of all that they should be in delivering hospitality and they follow his example.
There was nothing to dislike.
