This place is in a really lovely setting, and the guy at the front desk immediately made us hugely welcome and looked after us SO well. He really went above and beyond. We'd forgotten our UK USB charger and he charged our phones for us at reception using his own personal charger. He also helped us with directions of what the path was like to a local pub we wanted to visit. When we came back to the hotel later and got drinks, he mentioned to us about another lounge area we could sit, which was a wee bit nicer than the bar. Overall, along with the surroundings and how nicely the place was kept, his careful attention made our stay. As it was a wee bit away from things, we opted to get breakfast there and it was very nice, and we were well looked after

The bar area itself is not that welcoming I think, unless you're with a group. And the selection of drinks (in particular cider) was not impressive. And the barman did not really listen to my drinks order, so although I got a JD & diet juice, it was not in a large glass like I asked for, so a tad on the strong side for me. I'd expect a hotel like this to have at least one USB sockets in the room

I liked the air conditioning which could be controlled remotely and worked, in the bedroom. Mattress was comfortable. Breakfast was very good at £12.50 a day. All meals are served in the Jacobean restaurant. Lots of parking spaces.

The room which was supposed to be a double was just big enough for me and my clothes. Had i been with someone we would of been fighting over clothing storage space. As it rained for most my time here i missed walking in what promised to be lovely countryside(: Food was stopped being served after 21.00 on a Saturday except for pizza. Which turned out to be fate as the Pepperoni pizza was tasty and very filling.

Hotel looks very grand from the outside, beautiful grounds in stunning location. Internal decor very inkeeping and vintage. Loved the layout of our room and the decor however it did need a little spruce up. The breakfast had oodles of choice hot and cold, best breakfast choices iv seen at a hotel. All staff friendly and helpfull.

The carpets, unfortunatly just looked grubby/old/dirty and pulling up at the eges and tatty. Also, there was a powercut at breakfast so no fresh breakfast available and although paid extra for breakfast no compensation offered.

Property is in a beautiful spot and is a lovely building. We stayed over just for a night away to do nothing. The reception staff were engaging and welcoming. Room was spotlessly clean. We didn’t have a view from window but it wasn’t a problem we had the blind down anyway. Couldn’t be bothered to go down to the restaurant for food so they brought it up. Absolutely amazing quality and service. Air con in room was a godsend as I am always hot. Really had a nice stay and breakfast just completed it. So much choice! Quality produce and lovely staff yet again. Highly recommend this place and will happily go back.

Only downfall was shower was small and bed very hard but that’s personal preference. Nothing to dislike at all.

We were upgraded to a suite due to issue with the room we were initially allocated. Member of staff dealt with us without any fuss and was really helpful. Food in restaurant was good and lady who served us at breakfast was really helpful and friendly. Would return again and pay a bit extra for a suite.

Our initial room allocated had a bad smell and we needed to be moved. It was dealt with well by staff. So in the end we had a good stay. However we did think the room was a bit tired looking and might not have rated very highly.

Food was very good, filling & ample portion size, catered well for my wife who advised of nut allergy. Hotel was lovely and clean. Staff were helpful and courteous at all times.

Mattress was solid as a rock. Maybe a Mattress topper would benefit. None of the battery operated lights in room were able to be used. And one light switch outside bathroom was not working guessing it was the bathroom fan as this did not work when shower was in use.

We loved sitting on the patio, outside the conservatory, with our pre-dinner drinks, looking out over the garden, which was beautiful. The meals we ate during our visit (breakfast and dinner) were very nice (the servings were very generous). All the staff were very welcoming, helpful, and friendly throughout our stay.

Our only complaint would be the air conditioning unit in our room was very noisy - so we had to switched it off despite the hot weather.

Nice rural location, old manorhouse, extended typical wedding venue, nice pub like athmosphere in the restaurant, pleasant staff, good food at dinner and excellent breakfast

upon entering the room we saw the bathroom was not clean, so the staff aptly moved us immediately to another room.... sadly this was facing in inner court with quite noisy airco condensor fans waking us up several times during the night.

Excellent breakfast options available, both hot and continental. Good quality service and food provided. Wonderful spacious suite with all amenities and attention to detail throughout. Particularly enjoyed the way the hotel embraced the Christmas spirit and made our stay special. Evening meals exceptional and very reasonable. We will book a repeat stay in the New Year.

Breakfast was very good. A lot of choice, easy to access, hot food was hot! Dinner was also good, with tasty food and good value for money. Beautiful setting. I was there for an all day meeting and the facilities are good, although as usual the coffee and tea were uninspiring. Lunch, however. for 80 people, was excellent. My room was very clean and had a comfortable bed.

Bedroom furniture rather dated. Temperature control very complicated and I never got any heat in my room. The towel rail is designed for giants - I had to ask a friend to help me to reach mine.
