A brilliant option if you want room only. The cost was very reasonable and Thursday to Sunday there is the carvery option for an evening meal. The room was large and spotlessly clean, the location very quiet particularly after the carvery closed. There was no breakfast option but we knew that in advance and we were quite happy to go into Ripon (5 minutes drive away) for breakfast. Staff were brilliant and check-in was very easy. Reading other reviews it looks as though you can request drinks from the bar even when the carvery is closed, which we didn't realise at the time.

Nice room very clean we stayed for one night on the way down to Norfolk. We were very impressed that the room we were in was as big for the amount that we paid obviously some upgrades had already been done- shower looked brand new! We ate in the carvery and can honestly say that it was one of the best we’ve been to! Staff incredibly friendly and we must give a big thank you to Dave ( one of the owners I think) who went out of his way to make sure everything was ok and looked after us and made sure we were happy! We would definitely stay again good place to stop if you’re visiting Ripon or Harrogate.

This place was lovely. We went for two nights over Easter , short break to Ripon. It was approximately a 10 minute drive out of Ripon which suited us. It was nice and quiet. The room was very comfortable and spotless. Lovely bathroom and plenty tea and coffee facilities. The staff were lovely. The bar is shut when not serving food., but you can ring a number and someone will come and attend to you. Although we didn't use it. We just got a drink when food was served and took it to our room with two nice chairs to relax in. We also tried the carvery on Easter Sunday. It was delicious and well organised. Well presented unlike some chains who do a Carvery, where we have been put off carvery. But not this one. We thought a great place to stay.

Amazing stay staff and owners extremely welcoming and whent above and beyond at every turn the room and bed was very comfy the food was amazing loved the carvery all in all as close to perfect as can be keith and dave amazing hosts thank you so much

Hmm I'd have to be extremely petty and picky as carnt really think of anything maybe a biger tv or more variety in carvery meat but like i said would be extremely picky as we lover every moment keith and dave amazing hosts

the pub was very clean and it felt cosy as soon as you walked through the door. we stayed for 1 night and the service we received was impeccable! David was working while we were there and he was incredibly friendly and made us feel very welcome. In our room we had a lovely comfy bed and all the tea and coffee we could need. we also had a Roku stick so we could watch Netflix and other shows if we wanted to. on the Sunday we stayed for the lunch and they are right when they say the best carvery in Yorkshire! Without a doubt the best carvery I’ve ever had, it was unbelievable! We are already thinking about when we can come back next and bring some of our family. A great choice for a weekend away for our anniversary!

the only thing I could say that I didn’t particularly liked was the table we sat at for lunch. it was a tiny square table that had been shoved in a corner, myself and my partner were left looking at a wall. also we were sat right next to the queue for the carvery and I felt a bit like I was being watched. maybe table 14 needs a rethink.

Location was pretty perfect. You can access town if you wish but apart from the road passing the front, you are surrounded by fields and countryside. The staff are incredible and willing to accommodate quirky requests (they will understand this comment 😀) The food is amazing and excellent value,. The rooms were clean and well presented, great layout, cute and clean en suite. I packed extra coffee and tea bags, but there was absolutely no need, they provide way more than even a caffeine addict like myself could use, (they also provide decaff options). Bed was comfy and clean, gorgeous clean towels provided daily. Can't praise them enough.

I really didn't like that the long overdue family reunion couldn't have been longer. But that is no reflection on The George.

Location very handy- 3 miles from Ripon and an easy drive to Harrogate. The room was perfectly clean and there was a generous supply of tea coffee etc. The host was friendly and made us feel welcome.

There was a bit of traffic noise as we were in the main road side if the building. The restaurant was not open but the bar was available on request. I would suggest a shelf in our ensuite to put toiletries on

Rooms clean and simple. Good for price when only using to her head down for the night. Bed very comfy. Very warm welcome by very friendly member of staff.

Check in was a little late as we were at a wedding but couldn’t check in until 4:30. We had emailed a few months in advance and were advised we could pick up a key between 11:30 and 2:30 but when we called on the day we were told we had to wait until 4:30 which was a little frustrating

Dinner was to die for. It was a carvery and was absolutely first class. The bed was a very large bed and was very comfortable. It was generally quiet, however, the noise from the road was not so good. I spoke with the owner (general conversation) and he was a very likable, helpful & friendly chap

Check-in times are not very flexible. The place is deserted most of the time. You definitely need a car to stay at this place as it is miles from anywhere. The road noise is your early morning alarm clock. Breakfast does not exist :o( However, Wilfrids cafe in Ripon near the cathedral (HG4 1PB) has a breakfast equally as good as this carvery's Dinner.

we’re a group of friends meeting up for a college reunion in Ripon and needed somewhere close. The George was the nearest hotel we could get so as long as we got a bed and shower we were happy. However, if we visit Ripon again we will definitely stay here. Even though the hotel we’re hosting a wedding on the day we arrived they were incredibly welcoming and helpful. Our rooms were clean and fresh, access was easy after a late night out and the brilliant manager Dave texted us to make sure we had got home safely. Our stay at the George made it a great weekend.

The hotel only does a preordered breakfast bag which we knew about in advance. We decided to breakfast together in Ripon, but would had done so at the hotel had breakfast been provided in the bar/ restaurant.
