Staff are always friendly, helpful and attentive without being too obtrusive. The Cairn has plenty of onsite parking and a lift to all floors. We have stayed several times before and always enjoyed our time at The Cairn. It is in an ideal, convenient position for access to Harrogate attractions. Taxis are available and plentiful and there is a good bus service with stops just across the road.

Nothing we particularly didn't like but some things could be improved. The windows are fixed so they only open very little - it is not enough, more movement of air is needed. Difficult for the hotel to get round this as it is a local requirement but makes rooms uncomfortable in times of heat and high humidity and some of us regularly sleep with open windows. Would be good to have feather pillows and duvets considerably wider than the bed e.g. a king size duvet on a double bed.

The impressive entrance hall with its seating arrangement gave the hotel a splendid welcome. The reception staff were excellent and supplied all the information necessary to get settled in quickly. The lift was spacious and clean. The room was kept immaculate clean and tidy by the cleaner. Our view from our room was brilliant (348) overlooking the hotel grounds and the girls school as they played their sports. The staff, during breakfast time, were brilliant, no matter what you needed it was dealt with right away. Our short holiday was good but the hotel turned it into special.

The décor in our room could have been a little more brighter, it was a bit plain. I found the bathroom sink was a bit on the small side. I had to be extremely careful in getting my head down low enough to wash it as the tap got in the way and there was the chance that your head could strike the tap with consequences. The floorboards outside of our room creaked whenever anyone walked past.

The staff were very friendly, the room was comfortable and there was a good selection of food on offer for breakfast. Hotel was in a lovely location with lots to do within walking distance. The hotel also has a good sized and well maintained carpark at the front near the reception.

There was a sign up as we entered the corridor where our room was located saying there was maintenance work going on. The room was very dusty when we arrived. Hot drinks and toast arrived a good time after we had finished eating our hot breakfast. should really be served at the same time.

This was our 2nd stay at this hotel as we have family nearby so this is a great base to stay for family events. As a wheelchair user accessibility is important and I loved the facilities. This is the first hotel where I've actually been able to have a shower! All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, even remembering our preferences when we went for breakfast on the 2nd morning, despite being so busy.

I didnt like having to pay for each room individually, with two separate bank transactions, when the booking was made with one order. Though the hotel has excellent facilities for disabled guests, I wouldn't have been able to come and go from my room on my own as I needed my son to open and hold the many doors for me. There are sometimes events in Harrogate that I would like to attend but would not interest my son, but I realise I could not go independently. I'm not sure what the solution would be however, and otherwise it has very good facilities.

The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. The building has charm and character, with wide corridors and a grand staircase.. There is plenty of free car parking available.. The restaurant is well laid out and serves diners efficiently, even with large numbers. Breakfast was good , with plenty of choices.

We appreciate the hotel requires ongoing upgrades and this has to be done over the years. But the bedroom was very 1970s. Having said this the room was clean , the beds were fine. Good shower and plenty of clean towels ,

Spacious room with comfortable bed. Plenty of hot water and lots of car parking on site. Overall hotel is in need of some TLC, but areas were nice and clean. Very friendly and helpful staff Good choice of breakfast items and plates for cooked breakfast were unusually hot which meant food didn’t cool down quickly. Perfect location within easy walking distance to town centre

Breakfast was excellent. Full selection of hot and cold on offer. Quick service. All staff were very polite, pleasant and helpfull. good amount of parking. Comfortable and spacious in restaurant, lounge and bar areas.

Interior looked a little dated and in need of some painting to cover up scuffed woodwork. If you like that older look and not botherred by the appearance then its ok but probably why its only 3star. A little noisy at night. Stayed for two nights and it sounded like there was a window or door rattling in the wind somewhere. Made it a little difficult for me to get to sleep quickly.

We were allocated a twin aspect room, so one view over the rooftops of Harrogate, and one view of the hotel garden. We'd only booked a "Classic" room, so this exceeded our expectations. It was also at the end of a landing, so no other guests walking past in the corridor. The on site car park is also a bonus. We've stayed in another central hotel in the past where we had a long walk in the rain due to very limited parking.

The room was very hot when we arrived, but we were able to turn the radiators down easily ourselves and several windows were easy to open. Don't repeat our mistake of parking too close to mature trees at edge of car park. The bird poo took some shifting when we got home. Our own fault though.

We had read that we would find this hotel a little tired around the edges and, yes, whilst there were a couple of small threadbare patches of carpet on the stairs the hotel displayed a feeling of grandeur, which was complemented by the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Massive car park.Brilliant location.

We like to be positive about places where we stay but we have to report that the loo roll holder, of all things, was broken. It would have taken moments to fix if the hotel could have been bothered.

Great location, close to the Turkish baths and Betty's. Free parking available although I ended up travelling by bus and train, both stations only a short walk away. I had a single room, which are sometimes a bit grotty, but it was very nice and up to date. Great breakfast, big choice and very helpful staff.

There was a live band on Saturday night and I could hear them clearly enough to recognise Sweet Caroline. The live band stopped at 11pm but I could still hear music playing into the night despite being on the 3rd floor.
