Breakfast great Location super Staff excellent polite and very helpful But as I said the room really spoilt everything. I understand you were booked up but I ordered in March. I wanted a twin bedded room and I completely understand you weren’t able to give me one. BUT I come to Uk a lot and to see outside is essential for me But we had a lovely time

The room had a view of a grey wall. Really extremely disappointing.

The receptionist changed our room to be on the ground floor as my elderly mother uses a walking frame. That was very kind of them. The breakfast we were originally advised was a £16.50 extra at booking but not paid for/or preordered in advance and the cost had gone up to £17.95 each when we arrived. However, the breakfast had a full menu including various bakery options, cereals, fruit salad, yogurts, various hot breakfasts, juices coffee and tea. All food and drink was of excellent quality and the taste was great. The hotel was very good at dealing with my rapeseed allergy and amending my hot breakfast. The room and all hotel areas were excellently cleaned and we would stay here again

The breakfast we were originally advised was a £16.50 extra at booking but not paid for/or preordered in advance and the cost had gone up to £17.95 each when we arrived. Although the hotel does not do lunch and evening meals, we found out on the last day the hotel bar does pizza. Could this be advertised as this would have saved us buying sandwiches and eating in the bedroom? No bottled water in the bedroom although drinking glasses were there.

Staff were excellent, helpful and responsive. A refreshing change as St Albans does have a general rude and ignorant culture in its service sector. The rear facing windows allowed for the sound of the bells of the St Albans Abbey to find our ears. It was delightful. The bed was very comfortable.

The room was fiercely hot and the wall-mounted thermostat was unresponsive. A trip to the front desk told us the room temperatures are controlled from there. We had to have the heat reduced several times during the stay. The executive king room overlooked the bins and carpark of the pub next door. Bathroom was very small. No fridge in the room?? Completely bizarre for a hotel of this price/standard.

Really lovely hotel and we would stay again, the rooms have been renovated and the design is very nice with a nice big flatscreen tv. The staff were very nice, friendly and quick to act and helpful. We would stay again despite a few cleanliness issues. We didn’t eat at the hotel so can not comment on it.

Just a few cleanliness issues, the toilet was abit dirty, mirror in the room was covered in splashes and hand prints, so was the tv, bedside table was dirty, dirty mark on one of the pillows and when we were leaving we saw housekeeping stacking clean towels ready to go into the rooms stacked on the dirty floor, not ideal at all. Housekeeping needs more attention to detail and better practices. Other than this the hotel was great. The toilet was the first thing we noticed which we mentioned to someone and was dealt with quickly which was great, the other things were noticed later in the evening upon returning to our room and felt it was too late to call and bother the receptionist with so we left it.

The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. We were out most of the time but it suited our needs and they made an effort to make our stay a bit special as it was my husband's birthday. The location is perfect if you're exploring St Albans. We spent the afternoon and eve in London but it was straightforward to get the train and we had a lovely morning the following day enjoying the local shops and cafes. We were able to leave our car in the hotel car parking space till we were ready to leave so the whole stay worked really well.

A few extra milk cartons for tea/coffee would have been good and a biscuit or two is always nice.

The cooked full breakfast was good and the croissant amazing but the pancakes disappointing. The reception and bar staff were amazing, friendly, personable and helpful. The room was lovely and the cleaners very helpful. I wanted to give an excellent for staff but couldn't for the reason outline below.

The breakfast staff were awful and dragged the overall score down as their shortcomings couldn't be ignored. The woman in charge did not know how to smile and was very abrupt. The young man working with her was friendly enough but useless. Customers had to constantly point out that items needed replacing and it still took ages for them to appear. An example it took 20 minutes and 3 reminders to get more croissants! There was no water for 30 mins despite numerous requests for the empty jug to be filled up. In such a hotel and in line with other employees they should have been on top of what had run out and replaced them without having to be told

Every thing except for the hair dryer.

Someone had replaced the hotel hairdryer with a damaged personal one which caused my wife to cut two fingers on the dryer fan blade. The response from reception could be improved. I have suggested to the Hilton Hotel Corporate Guest Relations and Customer Care team that the hotel check equipment when guests vacate their accommodation. The response "............ we will make sure this will not happen again with you in near future" Well it may not happen to us in the near future but to anyone else, Who Knows!

Excellent location for Cathedral, restaurants & shops. Off street luggage drop off then short drive to secure car park.

Breakfast a bit chaotic. As previous reviewers have stated a little more attention on staff training is required going forward.

Breakfast was excellent, with plenty of choice and quick service of cooked options, though these were a little large for my appetite! The room was warm, comfortable and spotlessly clean, as was the rest of the hotel, and the pillows were the plumpest and softest ever. The ensuite bathroom was impressive. Location was ideal for my needs. Hairdryer and iron provided although it took a while to find them.

A shame that there are not a few parking spaces on the street just for being picked up or dropped off, as not everyone drives themselves to the hotel.

lovely hotel, nice feel and atmosphere but the real star of the property? A young lady called Denise, I assume she is the Night Manager but if she isn’t then she should be. I’ve had a rough couple of days and struggled with sleep but she has been absolutely phenomenal in making me feel welcome and comfortable in a tough time. Nothing has been too much trouble for her, everything has been done with a smile and warmth and a rare professional efficiency. I have no idea why she isn’t front and centre of your operation but she should be. In a world where customer service is often a thing of the past she absolutely nails it, 10 out of 10. I have stayed in literally thousands of hotels in my life and I can honestly say that never have I received such pitch perfect service. I will come back to this property in future solely because of her service.
