Peaceful (apart from being woken up by children running around and shouting on check out day)

The first lodge we were in reeked of sick and wasn’t very clean with dog biscuits in and under the sofa bed and cobwebs in the wall lights. The second lodge we were upgraded to by the lovely manageress ran out of hot water mid taking a shower. So had to go to the empty lodge next door to finish off my shower.. was looking forward to the roast lunch as we heard so much about it but unfortunately was informed that it wasn’t available so a little disappointed about that. was an eventful weekend after almost everything went wrong for us. Lighting outside the property was almost non existent especially around the hot tub and the path leading up to the lodge (steps) I actually fell over the small steps just outside the lodge.. if there was lighting there I would’ve seen them.

We used the spa during our stay and the treatments were exceptional with very attentive staff. The food at the hotel from breakfast, lunch and dinner was fantastically prepared. We had a very pleasant stay just note that our bed was sagging in the middle whish made the sleep somewhat uncomfortable and housekeeping staff cleaning the room above us were very loud at 8am. Almost like stepping on your head with pounding footsteps and vacuum cleaner bumping into everything. Something to consider that early in the morning.

Great secluded, parkland location just outside of St Austell. Spacious and comfortable rooms with efficient air conditioning and balcony with comfy chairs and table. Good public areas with a sun terrace, dining room and welcoming bar. Good selection of hot and cold food at breakfast and reasonable selection of bar food. Afternoon Tea was outstanding and a very popular option. Staff were very friendly, welcoming and always attentive. Plenty of car parking space. Coffee shop, eat-in bakery, small supermarket and fast food stores a couple of minutes drive or 8-10 minutes walk away.

Hard to find any significant dislikes. A larger selection of bar food might have been nice since we didn't use the formal restuarant. Also, what I assumed to be short term parking to unload luggage right by reception, seemed to always be full. However, overall, these are minor quibbles.

Friendly welcoming staff for whom nothing was too much trouble. Clean, spacious, comfortable rooms. Effective air conditioning, though marginally noisy if you leave it on overnight. Great food in the restaurant. We had a really enjoyable break and will look to book there again.

We loved the place. Just a couple of small criticisms- while it was no big problem for us, but be aware that the lift doesn't go to the top floors, so if you have trouble with stairs you'll need to ask for a room on one of the serviced floors. TV in the room was fine, except the picture did break up - momentarily but quite often.

Beautiful tranquil location. Large rooms with garden view. Tea, coffee, and shortbread replenished daily in our room. Lovely breakfast, afternoon tea, and dinner options. Really enjoyed the spa facilities. Took up a massage and afternoon tea offer with a friend. Perfect. Alfie, who worked all around the hotel and served us in the bar, really made our stay. All the staff were very helpful . We enjoyed a 4 mile walk to Pentewan from the hotel and short drives to Mevagissey, Charlestown, and other coastal sites nearby. Look forward to staying again.

Our room and dining area temperature was too warm. We got used to wearing light layers indoors. Opening the balcony doors during the day, but not ideal to keep open at night. We had to wait to be served for dinner. This didn't really affect us, but may have been an issue for families with young children and those on a tight schedule.

The room we stayed in was absolutely beautiful. The views from the balcony were lovely and we really loved having the bath in the same room as the bedroom (with a half height partition for privacy).

The bar area lacked a bit of personality, felt very formal. Could perhaps add some background music or a tv. You feel like everyone can overhear your conversation - which to be fair, they can! Also the bottom car park was very messy, I understand the weather cant be helped but there were a lot of pot holes, and was very tricky to walk over especially carrying bags etc.

So many things are great at this hotel: Staff are great, very kind and helpful. Hotel room was huge and clean with a great view from the balcony and super room service. Bed was also very comfortable and great to have Cornish tea in the room. The food for breakfast was absolutely delicious, obviously very high quality, local ingredients. Spa is very high quality and all is set in a lovely location. The surroundings are all very peaceful and it's lovely to see a resort coming into it's own.

We thought a couple of things would have/could make the hotel absolutely exceptional: Jacuzzi/swimming pool etc could all be hotter. Extra loungers by the pool would also be beneficial. As a couple enjoying some time away together, it may also be a good idea to have times in the pool during the day where children aren't allowed in to ensure some peaceful periods of time... This is quite standard in most spa hotels. Finally, we were asked to book a time to attend breakfast but still had to queue on arrival - this felt a bit confusing and we ended up seated in the bar area as the restaurant was full. The staff were brilliant and working their socks off to ensure we had a nice breakfast but it felt like a tighter booking system for numbers would be beneficial.

The breakfast was good. Spa facilities very good. The staff were all lovely and helpful. The grounds were well kept and pleasant to walk in.

I was surprised that people were allowed to use their phones in the changing rooms of the spa. This shouldn't be allowed. The changing rooms were far too hot. Everyone was complaining. The hotel could save some money and save the planet but turning the temperature down a few degrees. There were not enough staff in the dinning room in the evening. There was a lot of grumbling. I ordered the tempura vegetables as a started. I did resent paying £15 for 3 pieces of veg on a bed if salad! We didn't have dinner in the hotel after our experience. When we arrived, we were told that the lift was our of order. It remained out of order throughout our stay and beyond. This is unacceptable.

Our room was clean, very comfortable and modern with a view over the surrounding countryside. Breakfast choices and quality were excellent and we would complement Craig who managed breakfast organisation so effectively. There was ample car parking and we enjoyed the complimentary use of the Spa facilities. Staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. All in all a really enjoyable stay.

Our only criticism was the speed of service. For example the delay in being served in the carvery (pre booked) was unacceptable. Other than our reference to Craig, above, serving staff could be more prompt and proactive.

Its a beautiful property in the grounds of a wood and built into a wooded hill and looked very Scandinavian. Quirky modern interior at reception, clean rooms, fantastic spa, excellent breakfasts. Dinner and lunch very good with friendly, engaging staff who were surprisingly young but everyone had a superb professional and friendly demeanor. Very impressive all round and thankfully the bar staff can make good cocktails.

Honestly my partner and I cannot think of a single negative thing. It was a really splendid weeks stay
