From the time we got there to the time we left, we were made to feel part of the family. We decided on a last minute get away and stumbled across the Tudor house. We had to wait for the room but we were given a free drink in the bar while we waited. The breakfast, which has been so openly slated in other reviews, was super. Ok the beans could have been hotter but I’m not going to lose sleep over beans. One major highlight has to be how friendly and professional James was. He was attentive, and we had a fabulous chat with him about the history of the hotel. We stay in a lot of hotels, for both work and pleasure and this is definitely in the ‘would stay again’ bucket!!

The car park does seem to be used by literally anyone so no guarantee that you’ll be able to get a space.

Recently refurbished room which was beautiful. We stayed in a deluxe room ( number 6) £164.. Bathroom was lovely with robes, slippers, toiletries etc. The lavender room spray was a nice touch. Nespresso machine was provided plus speciality teas. Comfy large bed. The hotel is perfectly situated. James was our perfect host. He was absolutely charming and made us very welcome throughout our stay.

No fridge!. We had to turn the radiator on, the room was cold when we entered. Our biggest gripe was tthat the barman refused to serve us when we arrived back at the hotel around 11 pm. There were two parties of people in the bar with glasses full. We explained that we were residents but he refused. At £164 per night I don't think this is acceptable, especially when there wasn't a fridge with mini bar in the room.

The hotel staff went out of their way to ensure we had a great experience - they were friendly, attentive and accommodating at all times, even when under pressure. The building itself is wonderful, with its eye-catching staircase, old oak beams and comfortable seating and ambient lighting throughout. The dinner menu was understated, but by no means bland - the starters and mains were full of flavour - fresh food cooked to a high standard.

Only very minor gripes - breakfast was delayed on account of an unexpected number of guests wanting breakfast (who hadn’t booked apparently) and there was a leaky coffee machine in the bedroom. The overhead lighting in the bedroom was quite bright - recommend installing a dimmer switch, or another table lamp.

In chronological order... Free parking at the rear of the hotel ( also generous width spaces) . We were early but the meet and greet from the staff was excellent and informative. Drinks in the bar were reasonable price wise and served by bar staff that knew how to deliver customer service. We checked in later that day having sampled some of what Tewksbury had to offer. The bedroom was in the main building which is a wonderful old property, recently refurbished, so a very interesting wander through the twist and turns of corridors and the black oak beams . The bedroom itself was large , plush and very tastefully furnished with an excellent bathroom. Great building , super location and brilliant staff .Excellent stay ,

Location right in centre of town and perfect for The Roses Theatre. Bus stop for Gloucester opposite hotel. Helpful and friendly reception. Hotel decor was in keeping with its age but felt bright and clean. Small double room was immaculate and perfect for me (would be fine for 2 too!). Lovely decor, clean and bright. Comfy, good size bed, ample storage space. Bathroom was modern and very clean. Everything you needed was there, ironing board, iron, hairdryer, toiletries, radio etc. Lovely little touches like bottle of water, tissues, lavender room spray. Didn't eat or drink at hotel on this occasion but the dining room and bar area looked lovely as did the menu. All in all, a cracking hotel and excellent value for money. Will definitely stay there again.

Nothing really! Would mention that I didn't see a lift, which was no issue for me as I only had small overnight bag but possibly a problem for someone with more luggage? There were only 2 (though very nice🙂) coat hangers in wardrobe which, again, was no problem for my short stay but wouldn't be enough for 2 people and a longer stay. Perhaps that was deliberate as it was only me for one night? Perhaps the coat hangers have had a tendency to 'disappear' if too many are there?

The location is superb. The building itself creates a very special ambience, we loved the snippets of history dotted throughout the public areas and bedrooms. The view from our room was wonderful, very quiet and tranquil, the radio playing classical music was a lovely touch. The bathroom was spotless, hot shower, good quality products. Restaurant and bar area very comfortable and cozy. All staff very polite and helpful particularly the duty manager Azouz who was very welcoming and professional throughout our stay.

Cobwebs hanging from ceiling and curtains which I removed myself (dusting could be improved). Woken early hours by a loud dripping noise - rain entering via chimney and dripping on carpet by fireplace. Reported to management for further action as if left this will definitely cause issues within this beautiful room. Although this disturbed our sleep we recognised this was beyond the control of the staff and will be rectified.

The staff here were first class. From welcoming us and our little dog, they could not have done more. The building has such history which is very well shown. Our room was very nice, overlooking the river at the back. The food was well prepared and delivered, for both dinner and breakfast. We did get a car parking space at the rear of the hotel.

Having stayed at other hotels in the chain it would be good to focus on local specialities a little more rather than most of the menus being very similar, no matter where you are in the country. The only other thing I did not like was not from the hotel itself but from Booking.com as we were sent some very strange messages from the website, rather than the hotel

Over the years I have travelled a lot, & can honestly say all aspects for my stay at this hotel were first class. Friendly & efficient staff, very good food (breakfast & evening meals). We were travelling with our small dog, & so many times we get allocated basic rooms, but that was not the case here with a spacious, well furnished & comfortable room being provided. This was the first time using this group (Coaching Inns group), but if, as I am assured by the hotel staff, all other hotels are of a similar standard, it will not be the last !

Vey little, perhaps a little more choice on the menu, but that said there was enough variance, if you were only staying a couple of days.

We were surprised at how elegant and spacious our room was. It's an old building dating back to the 1400-1500s but the amenities and decor are up-to-date. These folks pay attention to every detail. When we arrived, there was an old fashioned radio playing classical music very softly. A tray was set for making tea, with biscuits and water. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The hotel bar was lovely. We did not have dinner there but did have a drink. The breakfast was lovely with all the typical English offerings. The hotel itself is gorgeous with all the old ornate woodwork and original windows. The history of the hotel is featured on the walls as framed artwork. It's historically connected with the John Moore Museum just up the road. The hotel is very centrally located with easy access to just about everything, including the Avon River that runs close behind it. We had a lovely walk along the river on our way back from the Abbey. I highly recommend this hotel and this town.
