Booked a couple of months in advance and got a very good price - £45 for the night - I noticed that it was more like £100 for the night when I looked (out of curiosity) the day before I arrived. Hotel is nice and the staff friendly. Had dinner in the bar (burger and chips), which was very good. Bed comfy (a little bit soft for me, but OK).

The hotel is showing it's age and is a little bit "frayed around the edges". Although very clean throughout, some of the paintwork could do with freshening up a bit and the carpets are a bit worn in places so the place looks a little bit "tired".

Good value for the location, close to Windsor but more economical than the venues in and around Windsor, and the free parking lot in back is a bonus. You can go for a riverside walk along the Thames right from the front door (to check out the historic Maidenhead Railway Bridge and the "Sounding Arch"), and Thai Orchid (just up the street) was an excellent choice for a delicious Thai dinner experience.

The continental breakfast (not included) in the on-site restaurant was overpriced and bland (but there's a good breakfast cafe a block away).

The whole stay was really good and in fairness to the staff, I arrived on a Saturday evening when things were busy, rugby on TV etc so raising someone to assist me when I arrived was tricky. The bar, room (including the level of heating), bar food room (terrific view of the river) and atmosphere were excellent and this is a really good hotel in my view.

I would have preferred the ability to warm croissants and a bit more variety (eg vegetarian friendly yoghurt) in the breakfast offering but there was nothing wrong with what I had. Good coffee too.

Very pleasant old-style ambience to the hotel. Lovely terrace overlooking the Thames. Friendly and helpful staff - and they found secure storage for our two bikes inside the hotel (previous stops on our tour we had to chain to a fence or drainpipe etc). Excellent breakfast, freshly cooked.

No food available on Sunday evening! However, we found the nearby Boathouse pub had a good menu and served until 9pm. The staff had advised us to try the new Hall and Woodhouse pub in Taplow, but that also stopped serving food at 6pm... So that worked well for three of us, bu the rest of our party arrived later and their only food option was a delivery from Dominos.

Booked this to go the Coronation Concert as it was relatively near Windsor. Good car park was a bonus. Doesn’t look particularly flush but was clean and comfortable and staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Had lunch in bar. Very good value. Excellent breakfast next morning. Recommended a local taxi company to get us to and from Windsor. They were spot on too. Would be more than happy to stay here again

No particular complaints. If I had to be Uber picky pillows a little flat for my liking and tinned tomatoes with breakfast rather than grilled but that’s really being picky. Neither affected our stsy

I prefer to stay in hotels with character, where you can see the history and meet the owners. This hotel definitely has that. The place has a great faded grandeur feel to it. I stayed in a simple, small, single room, just what I needed. The location on the river is great. The breakfast was a cooked buffet in a nice old space with friendly staff and, although I didn't get chance, the hotel bar/pub looked like a great local boozer kind of place too. Hopefully the hotel doesn't take this the wrong way but: If you're expecting 5 stars, this isn't for you, but if you want somewhere that's got a good, old school vibe and friendly staff, this one's for you.

Room was clean, bed comfy, and the staff were helpful. Wifi wasn't working when I arrived but was quickly fixed. I had a lovely view of the river, even if the room was small and I had to bend to avoid the ceiling when I walked round the bed to look out. The restaurant was unfortunately closed, but the bar was open, it did mean all the sounds of the patrons came up, but the noise doesn't bother me.

Had a room on the top floor which was great, except I had a large suitcase which I had to bring up a narrow staircase.

The hotel is in a lovely location and the room met all the requirements for our one night stay. It was neat, tidy, comfortable and overlooked the river. Although we only had coffees in the bar area, it was pleasant and the staff friendly. Breakfast was self service, with all the usual elements for a full or light breakfast available and was well prepared.

Some external building work with scaffolding was being carried out and although it did not affect our stay, it was a shame it obstructed the view from the windows.

All the staff were lovely! The family room for 4 was split into 2 rooms with a small entrance so we could leave the doors open to both rooms (good idea). We have the rooms that overlooked the river Thames. Rooms were clean, and the décor was satisfactory - good colours. The rooms were supplied with clean towels every day. The breakfast was excellent, all of us enjoyed it. The car park was great, we felt the car was safe enough parked up. We did eat in the restaurant in the evening, pricey but you get what you pay for- it was really good and they couldn't do enough for us

The double bed was the style where the mattresses are zipped together, bit uncomfortable but we managed. The shower wasn't great, couldn't keep the temperature stable when showering and the pressure wasn't great. The only other thing is when we left and handed in our keys, the receptionist was very blunt, short with words and didn't want to be bothered by anyone, we saw how unhelpful she was with another client "what do you want me to do about it, not my problem" but she got there in the end.

Room comfortable and clean. The weather had turned chillier so th staff member explained that I could activate the central heating by adjusting the thermostat which I did and also found a spare blanket in the wardrobe. The continental was adequate. The small bar meal which I had both evenings was sufficient and quickly available

Maybe the continental breakfast could have been more generous
