The owner and staff are incredibly wonderful individuals and their work as a team is great to see. The location by the Thames, away from streets, and about a mile from the train station is close to ideal. Many very good restaurants are within a half a mile. The healthy breakfast provided is most appreciated. Breakfast on the terrace is lovely. Staying at the River Arts Club is like sharing a quiet manor house with nice strangers that we barely see. Train options to Paddington or Tottenham Court Road take less that 60 minutes.

With new ownership comes a few little glitches that has no impact in the quality of our stay. In some cases it was a great opportunity to interact with the staff in a productive manner. We were even upgraded after an absolutely unpreventable event that was not, in any way, the responsibility of the staff or ownership. No TVs in the rooms is not a big deal yet, as we stayed for 6 nights, watching the news on occasion or a good movie would have been nice. We could use our tablets of course. It is just not the same.

We spent one night here on the way back from North Devon before returning our car rental at Heathrow. We had stayed here in 2018 and our fond memories were repeated. This is a unique property with grand rooms and lawns sweeping down to the River Thames flowing past and full of action and interest. Breakfast was a joy served on the terrace in summer sunshine. Iain was an attentive and caring host again.

The breakfast was so much more extensive than the breakfast order form suggested ! All beautiful and fresh. One of the most comfortable beds I've ever had. Great view of the river from my room and a real air of tranquility.

Repurposing old buildings often leads to odd features. The shower was stand alone and tiny, especially with the shelf in it for toiletries.

We were very kindly upgraded to one of the suites by these amazing hosts. The suite was gorgeous and spacious so lots of room to unwind and have some drinks from the very aptly named Honesty Bar! Location is perfect for The Fat Duck and nearby restaurants/pubs - hosts more than willing to arrange cars where needed and give recommendations too. Alessandra was an exceptional host and accommodated all our requests! My only wish is that we could have stayed longer and explored the surrounding area!

Nothing!

Magnificent location, esoteric design , very friendly and helpful staff. It is a beautiful property right on the river, walking distance to excellent restaurants with equally good views.

Understandably for a property this old and vast, some of the exterior paintwork could do with a fresh coat and a few extra loungers for enjoying sunshine on the river might be good.

It is in a great location on the bank of the river Thames and is walkable from there into the centre of Maidenhead. It is a quirky hotel in terms of the architecture and the layout but I mean that as a big positive, it is good to be able to stay somewhere with a different style to it. The owner and other people working there were really friendly and accommodating to dietary needs

From the moment you step into the building you immediately know you are in for a treat. Amazing decor and unusual artwork adorning every wall and a very warm welcome. Our room was very spacious and had the same individual and unusual features as the rest of this beautiful house. The relaxed buffet breakfast is taken in a room overlooking the river and was so relaxing. We loved it ❤️

We loved everything.

beautiful riverside location. Quirky and sizeable rooms (we were upgraded but most of the rooms seemed pretty large). Bed was very comfortable. Particularly liked the honesty bar which allowed us to have drinks in our room when we returned after our lunch. Breakfast was continental style but great - fresh fruit and yogurts, excellent selection of cheeses, cold meats, french bread and pastries. Bit pricey but it is only just outside London and rooms etc made it worth the money. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Maybe a few more tables outside given location but we were very lucky with weather and most of the time it probably wouldn't matter. Hotel car park is quite small but wasn't a problem during our visit.

Incredibly welcoming, flexible and generous hosting from Alessandra and Ian. They gave us a room upgrade to a room with fantastic views, were very flexible with check in and check out, and helped us along the way, including with booking the spa service.

Nothing could really be done about it, but the bathroom being only partly partitioned from the room was perhaps a little awkward, but the spaces themselves were great.

Characterful, with lots of interesting collections scattered around the common rooms. Free parking onsite. Self-serve bar, based on honesty system. Good tea/coffee making facilities. Property is on the river.

The foliage needs a trim as the river was not visible from the large garden. No air-conditioning. Suggest fitting a flyscreen so that a window can be left open for ventilation during warm nights. No fridge to store our own purchased milk.
