The whole experience at the crossings was very good, staff extremely friendly and knowledgeable, extremely accommodating also, their food was particularly tasty, and all prepared on site, with excellent helping size there were local beers on offer next to the regular brands found in most pubs and all reasonably priced. The property itself was very clean with lots of local history about the walls in the pub about the local mining heritage.. Location was brilliant with easy access with many cities and towns within driving distance. Facilities in the room were adequate, with fresh top up available on request. Overall a great experience.

Room size was OK, bathroom was a little tight, with nowhere to hang damp towels. Beds were OK. Parking was restricted with no onsite parking, there was easy parking on the front street although limited depending on time of day and parking restrictions on the street.

Very comfortable room, newly renovated. Very good breakfast. We also stayed for Steak night on Thursday which was excellent value. Good “pub grub”. Great location with the bus stop to Durham and Peterlee outside the door. Staff and owners were super friendly and made us feel very welcome.

Very minor - the complimentary tea and coffee and bottled water as very welcome except I don’t drink tea and only have black coffee, the coffee was 2in1 sachets so there was nothing I could have- but that is a very small observation and my problem(too fussy!) It would help if a copy of what’s on in the pub was left in the room. We missed out on quiz night 😧

Room was decent, had all the amenities. Shower was lovely. Staff were fantastic, really friendly and attentive. Food was delicious, both for dinner and breakfast.i emailed a few days ahead of time to ask about them putting a cot in my room and they did this without bother. Generally very happy. We weren't expecting much because it was so cheap, but it was definitely excellent value for money. If we stay in this area again (we were visiting family) we would definitely stay here agai .

Not much! The pub downstairs was a little tired, but everything was clean and upstairs where the rooms were were Nicky decorated - looked like it had been done recently.

Owners , and staff very friendly and welcoming, rooms were clean and comfortable done to a very high standard. Bar area was good and a good selection of food. The beer garden was a good size too. Breakfast was included in price too and was lovely and filling. Overall a very nice experience in a tucked away gem of a pub. We will certainly be back again.

Nothing I didn't like, if anything there was limited parking but owner was ready to accommodate us with his parking spot if we couldn't get one. It could do with some hanging space not a problem for us as only stayed one night but could be a issue if you were there more than a couple of nights. None of this was a problem for us though and didn't spoil our stay here.

Location was easy to find and ample parking. The breakfast - a full English - was also ample and hot - very enjoyable. The rooms had recently been refurbished and were to a high standard. There were tea/coffee facilities and some biscuits too. The bed was very comfy and the towels and bedding all appeared to be new too.

I had to mention that the kettle didn't fit under the spout of the tap...so we had to fill it a cup at a time - but that said, the kettle was spanking new. There were pictures on the wall... but the two pics were the same... in fact they were the images the frames came with... obviously there had not been time to change them - but this is a tiny niggle. A shelf to put toiletries on in the bathroom would have been good - we had to put everything on the floor...oh, and a hook on the door to put towels on.

The room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable, the bathroom was also spotless and modern and the shower was piping hot with strong water pressure. We had a very warm welcome from the staff, and although it was karaoke night, the noise stopped around 11.30pm. It didn't bother us though as we were downstairs joining in, and having a great time with several friendly and welcoming locals. For a budget price, this was an outstanding stay, and we will definitely stay again next time we're in the area.

Great visit first time nice greeting on arrival Room (2) fine I am a regular traveller Two comments/improvements for the room more towel hanging and a shelf for to put your toiletries Ate on Wednesday evening in the bar it was really good and again friendly staff likewise at breakfast 8:15 start for breakfast doesn’t suit everyone but it was fine for me - had I needed an earlier start it would have been a problem

Parking is a bit hit and miss but I was lucky there were spaces when I needed

The hosts were fab, we arrived a little early but the room was ready so we were allowed to check in, we had our lunch in the pub ( good value for money) before we ventured into Sunderland. The location is good too, really close to major road links. Will stay here again if we are up that way again.

No on site parking but plenty of parking nearby. We arrived back late after a concert at the stadium, had to enter the property from the back entrance up some steps which were poorly lit so needed to be really careful.

Peter and his staff are really friendly and very accommodating. I had requested a very early book in, and this was done with absolutely no fuss. Everything was explained upon arrival and by Peter the room was very clean plenty of tea and coffee in room Bed was very comfy and had a great night's sleep. Overall really happy with my stay and would definitely recommend the railway crossings to anyone looking for accommodation in Wingate.

There was nothing I didn't like.
