Everything about this hotel exceeded our expectations! It has been recently renovated to a very high standard and the design and furnishings are stylish and comfortable. The hotel is stunning. The staff were lovely and welcoming and went out of their way at breakfast to provide a gluten free alternative. It made a nice change to have some interesting items on the breakfast menu such as eggs benedict, florentine etc and it was all freshly cooked to order, rather than being a breakfast buffet. If you ordered breakfast in advance at the hotel (which we did when we arrived) it was only £10 per head which was very good value. The room we were allocated was spotless, stylishly furnished, very comfortable bed (one of the best hotel beds we have slept in!) and lovely bathroom.

The only negative was that there was no towel hook for the hand towels but that's just us nit-picking.

This place was much bigger than we expected and is part of a pub. It appeared to be well run. New decor. Large room and large bed. Huge walk-in wet room. Discount on food ordered in the pub but you must remember to mention that you are a resident when bill is paid. Amazing full English breakfast and evening meal

There was a sensor light at floor level in bathroom so we did not need to put main light on at night. But it went out very quickly so you were suddenly left in darkness. As lovely as our room was, it was more suited for someone in a wheelchair. It had superb disabled facilities including a very low level basin, several support bars and handles, and a flip down seat in the shower part of the atrium. However, my husband and I are both very tall and found it uncomfortable to use the sink. We were advised that the staff would have been happy to change our room but we didn’t find the issue until after we had unpacked.

The hotel is a lovely old Victorian traditional pub with accommodation, that has been renovated to a very high quality - with many of the original features being kept. The bedrooms by contrast were comfortable, very modern and warm and cosy. With tea and coffee making as well. The bathroom with a large walk in shower was brilliant. A lot of thought has gone into the renovation ie in the bathroom, a night light comes at low level so you can see where you are going in the dark. We had a lovely meal in the pub and as we had booked a table were given a discount off our bill !! We will definately stay here again - the location is great with the train station 100 yards across the road. Parking at the local NCP (if you use the app) was cheaper than parking on the road and not an issue to walk there.

Very convenient location, nicely furbished and immaculately clean room, and an efficient and friendly service. I appreciated that they were willing to store my luggage both before check-in and after check-out, and had given me exactly the type of room I'd requested. Also a great pub, with a wide selection of craft beers and food - there's a 20% discount for hotel guests too!

The room (202, on the 2nd/top floor) was very warm, which wasn't too much of a problem at this stage of the year, but would be oppressive in summer. It may well be that the hotel will supply fans on request (I didn't check this), but if not then I'd suggest it be considered.

This hotel was very comfortable and had lovely decor. There were nice touches in the room, and the linens and towels were great, the bed was comfortable. We were upgraded to a nicer room which was lovely of them. We had breakfast there in the morning and it was top-notch. Excellent coffee and well prepared food with good vegetarian options. Also, the staff were really friendly, helpful and fun!

We were there in the summer and it was quite hot, even with the window open, because we could only open it less than half, and there was no fan to help circulate air. I would suggest this property provide tabletop or other fans for hot weather. Our room did face the outdoor beer garden, which because we had to leave the window open was a bit noisy for sleeping (even though it was a quite Sunday night). Lucky for us the pub closed at 10pm on a Sunday and we went to bed soon after, but for a Friday or Saturday night stay just be aware you should plan to be up and if you can't beat 'em, join 'em!

The staff was great and friendly. The pub had some great options to eat, a beautiful outside space and was open till late which was great as we arrived at 10 on the first day. The room was comfortable and spacious and the location was perfect -It's a 15 min walk to the town centre and pier but right outside railway station which was ideal given we were attending Goodwood festival while on our stay here. We had a few meals here and the food was pretty great, both breakfast and dinner options. Would Def stay here again !

There was some construction going on out side the hotel, but that's temp and nothing to do with the property. And while it didn't bother us , there could be more lights in the room if someone wants to work etc. Other than that, we loved everything about our stay - relaxing and convenient.

When we arrived we received a great welcome fromJesse at the reception desk, and once the staff realised how difficult us oldies would find the stairs found us a room on the ground floor and explained that as the building is grade 2 listed,it was not possible to have a lift installed. We remember the old style hotel and were very happy and amazed by the trasformation of the bar ,dining room and the two outdoor seating/eating areas. The food was good with a special discount for people staying at the hotel and here,Louis and the rest of the staff were all excellent efficient and helpful it seemed that nothing was too much trouble. All in all:a lovely visit to a town where we once lived. Thanks to all concerned. .

Just a couple of minor gripes..could feel the join of two single beds..not good for snuggling ..and the shower door was a bit hard to open and close..had to leave it slightly open for fear of being stuck inside.

We enjoyed our 3 night stay at the Railway Hotel. The staff were excellent, very friendly and tried to accommodate wherever they could. The room (Superior Double) was very clean and in general comfortable. The Breakfast was very tasty and enjoyable.

We found the room a little cold especially in then evenings. I figured during the summer months the heating was probably switched off but was told that the radiators came on at 4:00pm. Unfortunately this was not the case for us. On the last night stay and the last we found there was no hot water. .
