The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming.
The bedroom was a little small and quite hot. It could also have done with a bit of a refresh as the bed and furniture looked rather tired.

Incredible how quiet it was for being on one of the busiest streets in central oldtown York. The fact that the windows could be open all night and not hear a peep! Felt immense privacy too, as our windows faced a brick wall.. so sure, no "view", but, it made for privacy and quiet and you can see great things everywhere else in the city. The room was also very, very clean and the staff were SO nice. The room was beautifully designed - simple, clean, and modern feeling even though you are in a gorgeous old building. If you want to be in the center of everything, but still come home at night to peace and quiet, I highly recommend!
This wasn't too much of an issue for me, but there is not a lift. The stairs are big and easy to manage though. There is also no bar or breakfast. Again, not an issue and I knew that before booking, but just FYI in case you are looking for all the bells and whistles. There is a minifridge in the room and tea/coffee amenities which was just fine with me!

I liked the quirkiness of the building and the rooms … how old the building is and it’s charm
For £200 a night I expect the showers to be working especially if I have shower for 2 people that unfortunately couldn’t be used together

Loved the location. I liked the fact it’s hidden. So quiet yet in the centre of town. The staff were lovely. The decor whilst sparse is quirky which as an artist I also loved. There was coffee and tea etc with a biscuit available in the rooms. The hotel has no restaurant or bar but I like that it doesn’t because you’re not assailed with food smells and noise at all hours. Step outside the hotel and within a few steps all sorts of cuisines and drinks are available. The bed was exceptionally comfortable as were the pillows. There are lights on all night outside from surrounding buildings as one would expect in a city but the blackout curtains made it a non issue.
Really I have nothing to complain about. The fan in the bathroom squeals but it can be independently switched off and the rooms have plenty of ventilation making it a non issue. The room was a little warmer than I like but I’m always hot anyway by nature and it was also a non issue because there was a wonderful large fan in the bedroom.

The Judge’s Court is rich with character. I loved diving off busy Coney Street down a narrow alley that opened in a courtyard dominated by the hotel’s frontage. All the staff, from concierge to the delightful gentleman I met polishing the staircase are an absolute delight. I adored my room, I loved being down a short flight of steps and pushing open my door into a beautiful mix of stylish new outfitting beneath a several hundred but very clean low brick vaulted ceiling. With two windows for light wells, I had a lovely flow of cool fresh air especially when York was summer muggy, a touch stinky and a little sticky. That room would also be so lovely and cosy in winter.

The comfortable room was spacious, with plenty of room for luggage and other personal items. The room included high ceilings, a four poster bed, comfy sitting chairs, tall windows with blackout curtains, and a fireplace, and is located within an historic building built in the 1720s (old by American standards). An extra lovely touch were the generous sweet snacks, coffee, and tea. A favorite part of the room was the mural of the 19th century historic political cartoon occupying a full wall, as it added a bit of whimsy. The heated towel bar in the bathroom was also welcome, as well as the generous shelf on which to place one's sundry items. We loved the location in the center of York, within walking distance to everything we wanted to see. Set back in a small courtyard, through a close, there was no street noise at all. Apart from the sound of the gentle rain, we enjoyed complete quiet.
The ceiling light above the desk/coffee maker was burned out, so it was dark in that corner. The coffee maker glitched, so it was removed from our room, although we did have instant coffee. The toilet paper holder kept coming off its mount on the wall whenever used. Just some minor deferred maintenance easily remedied.

The complimentary glass of wine on arrival was lovely, plenty of tea ,coffee , facilties in the room ,also a large fan for when it got too warm, being able to leave your luggage after checking out ,staff were lovely and approable ,the room felt like it was in keeping with the area ,I would definitely stay here again and recommend it
We were in the room at the front and it was quite nosey from around 5.30am ,bins being emptied and barrels pushed along the court yard ,this went on for a while ,after saying this I did shut the windows and stuck ear plugs in and I would still come back to this Hotel as this is a small gripe and also it was mid week .

Great location, friendly staff, comfortable room
Slightly loud neighbours playing music in their garden at all hours. But possibly expected from a city centre hotel so didn’t bother us too much. (Room was actually quieter than we expected for such a great location)! Also, definitely not the end of the world, but when the room was cleaned, our bed wasn’t made and toiletries/tea and coffee weren’t topped up. However, when we asked staff for a couple more tea bags they kindly delivered some to our room with extra milk and coffee.

Friendly staff made us feel welcome, free glass of wine on arrival was lovely. The location was great, right in the middle of town, giving easy access to shops, pubs, restaurants & attractions. The property was set back slightly which meant the noise from the highstreet was never a problem. The room was clean, comfortable, nicely decorated & hot drink services, towels, soaps shampoos ece were pletily available.
Bathroom fan was extremely noisy an ran for a long duration after the bathroom light was used which prevented us from using the bathroom light during the night. The radiator thermostat didn't seem to regulate the heating the adjust ment was either on full or off completely. Additional very small bottles of drinking water were charged at three pounds each which seemed a bit excessive.

Loved the quirkiness of the hotel and it age. The location was fantastic for exploring York and it's many highlights, which included a wide range of restaurants, cafes, tearooms and pubs. Their is no kitchen at Judges Court but loads of places on it's doorstep for breakfast. We enjoyed the coffee, tea, hot chocolate and water provided in the room; there was also a nespresso machine available. On arrival we were greeted with a complimentary glass of wine and you can order alcoholic and non- alcoholic drinks to your room. There were also the juciest green apples available in the reception area. The staff were extremely quick to deal with a problem we had with the TV and replaced the faulty remote control with a brand new one without any fuss. We loved being in the heart of the city!
