We loved how close it was to everything. Unfortunately on the first night the club next door (yep, there's a club right next door, so be careful if looking to book on weekends as you can hear music until 3am) was playing loud music and we barely got any sleep, I'm 6 months pregnant and was so upset & just shattered. But in the morning we were rang by Rachel (who's just so so lovely!) Who couldn't have been more apologetic, and moved us into one of the apartments which were beautiful and absolutely no noise on the second night! She was so kind & understanding and despite it of course not being her fault about the noise, was more than happy to move us. Thank you Rachel!

Again, the noise. We stayed on a Monday to wednesday so weren't expecting much noise, apart from the odd sounds since being in the city centre. But the club next door was having a club night until 3am and we could hear every lyric of every song in our room. So be careful on weekends and check any club nights next door if you're a light sleeper

We booked our stay as part of our honeymoon and from the start the staff were incredibly helpful and accomodating. I wanted to surprise my now wife with a bottle of fizz upon our arrival and the staff were very helpful with sorting this. What made the stay incredibly memorable was that upon our arrival we found that we had been given a complementary upgrade from our basic room to a full apartment! We were speechless when we saw how amazing the apartment was and the little touches left by the staff in addition to the fizz I'd asked for. We were slap bang in the middle of the city centre and were in a short walking distance of literally everything. I couldn't recommend The Fort enough and I want to thank Rachel, Andrew and the rest of the staff (including the Kennedy Bar next door, who held our bags while we were waiting to check in) for giving our honeymoon an amazing start.

The only thing i can think of is the bit of noise from the bars and foot traffic from the street but then The Fort even thought of that and provided earplugs on arrival! So not even that much of a niggel.

The staff truly went above and beyond to help us celebrate our 12th anniversary and made the stay so memorable. I’m so grateful to The Fort team. The apartment we stayed in was incredibly spacious, I loved that the lights were motion activated and the decoration was so lovely. I spent a few nights in The Grand before coming here and I can honestly say I preferred my time at The Fort. The location is perfect as well, right in the heart of York, and aesthetically it has all the character of York which I really enjoyed. I’d definitely come here again. Our room was upgraded on this occasion and it was such a lovely surprise. A huge thank you to The Fort team for all your hard work and everything you did for us.

It’s a little noisy at night but earplugs are provided so can’t complain really! Everything has been thought of :)

The location is excellent, right in the heart of York and close by to everything needed. The Fort is located above a pub with several other pubs in the street which can get quite loud, however The Fort provides ear plugs free for those that need them. Close by to York Minster, the Shambles, train and bus stations and markets. Washing machine and dryer. Private rooms with bathrooms available. This is the second time I have stayed at The Fort and would do so again. Thank you!!!

The noise from the pubs, but of course, this is to be expected :) There is a lift well, but no lift - not sure if this is going to be an addition in the future, or if it was there but taken out. Four flights of stairs to get to our room with heavy luggage, so if you are traveling with someone, help each other :)

Location was great. Staff were amazing, helpful, accommodating and friendly. Spacious room first night with 2 ensuites (gallery room) decided to stay extra night, moved seemlessly to different room (log cabin) another spacious room. Decor very good. Large tv, good sized fan, couch or lounge chairs. Showers are great😃

Can be noisy at night due to location but earplugs supplied in room if you want to use them😂 leaving fan on low worked a treat with outside noise😊 2-3 short flights of stairs but ok for us👍 staff do offer to help with bags👍first room had very soft mattress

was a nice funky place to stay that leave you to your own devices. Room was better than I expected and all I needed (which addmitadely was not much - a central location and a comfortable bed for couple of nights). It is important to note - it is above a night club and at the weekends you will really hear the music and the virbration - so take GOOD EAER PLUGS! I took was mouldable ones from the well known high st chemist. Foam ones do not cut out enough sound. They do provide foam ear plugs which a) is a nice touch but b) shows you how bad the prolem is that they feel they have to supply earl plugs. I have problems with noise and getting to sleep. I have to have total silence and am easily awoken. But with ear plugs I was fine, had no problem sleeping. If you want it as quiet at they can make it - ask for a room on the very top. Though I think that is where the rooms are - and the dormitarie are on the floor below (and closer to the night club!). But all in all, I was pleased and honestly - you could not get a more central location in ancient York - it is in the middle of it! I do hae problems with my lungs. The lift was broken and I had to use the stairs, which was a bit of a pain, But it was only for a couple of nights and they have flat stages after a few stairs whre you can take a break and then move on to the next stage

I loved the location. In the heart of York and in walking distance of all that York has to offer. The accommodation was wonderful, well designed and tastefully decorated with all that one could need on a vacation.

The only downside was the stairs for carrying luggage up and down. The kitchen could also do with a microwave to warm food as most people don't really cook when on vacation 😕.

Had all the amenities we needed. Location was brilliant, spacious room.

There were pubic hairs on the floor that then transferred on to the bed as we walked through the property. We stayed in the log cabin and there was no pre warning that if we went to bed before 3am we would hear Manahatta’s music blaring through the walls.

the apartment was easy to find, clean, comfy and lovely. The welcome pack was informative and the contactless check in was simple.and easy to follow we had no need to contact any staff during our stay.

the apartment got very noisy in the evenings due to it being sandwiched between two pubs but we were provided ear plugs in the welcome pack which was a nice touch. the front door to the apartment didnt feel very secure at times it rattled a bit.

The place is located in the centre, its prime location, literally a stone's throw from everything. Luckily the owners supplied earplugs, as there is a pub right next door, in the evening like with most towns it can get a little noisy. The windows are double insulated which is great but can't drown out those loud lots after a few pints or cocktails.. don't let the slight noise put you off, I am a light sleeper but the earplugs defo helped. We will be booking this again in the near future.
