Hotel was dated but very clean. It has all the basics. We were concerned about not having ac but the box fan in the window made for great sleeping temperature. Amazingly the bed was very comfortable. The location was perfect for Land of Oz. It was close to Fred's for breakfast. Several restaurants to choose from. Close to Banner Elk for more restaurants, entertainment or shopping.

Nothing really to dislike. Its an old hotel so the furnishing were dated. The on-site Mexican restaurant's food was terrible but the waiter was great.

Location was perfect, close to Fred's, sled hill, and ski slopes. Loved the suite, having the beds upstairs and the convenience of 2 bathrooms. The kitchenette was well equipped, although one burner did not work. The kids liked the game room and the huge fireplace in the lounge area.

Our only complaint was lack of comfortable seating in living room. After a day of activity, we wanted to crash and snuggle on the couch and relax. But the couch didn't fit our family of 5 and the 2 side chairs were too stiff to be comfortable to sit and watch TV.

The bed was comfortable, the refrigerator was new, and our unit had a sofa bed and a stove top. The people who worked the desk in the lobby were very nice and very accommodating.

The heat did not work very well, and the property was a bit dated (peeling wallpaper in places, for example). No one came to collect our dirty towels at all while we were there (Thurs. evening through Sunday morning), so we had to go down to the desk twice to ask for extra towels and toilet paper.

We were in a split level suite - kitchen/living downstairs and a spiral staircase to bedroom. Both levels had baths which was great. Kitchen was very well equipped for our in-house meals. Rooms were very clean and kitchen/bath were spotless. Highly recommended. Be aware that the spiral staircase steps are small so if you are a larger size person, this could be a problem.

Shower heads were low - probably an older building. A minor note. But water pressure was great.

The room was a really nice size, not cramped. If I wanted to cook a meal for myself there, I could have. Plenty of space and equipment. Seating space was large. Could accommodate 4 comfortably. Murphy Bed was ok, not terrible, older, but in good shape. The only drawback was that the bathroom is a little small, however, it's not that big of an issue. Don't expect this to be a posh suite, but it was very cozy, warm and inviting! We liked the location! Staff helped me with great information on the local restaurants. We ended up having some of the best prime rib we've ever had at the Alpine House, next door! Service at both locations was great! Friendly staff at the hotel! Room was clean and ready for us! We plan to go back. It was truly a nice find!

Bathroom a little small, but not that big of a deal.

The price is very affordable, the cheapest one we could find even at last minute booking. The location is very nice and convenient, although a steep incline on the way. The queen suite fit 6 of us perfectly: with 2 queen beds, 1 sofa bed and 2 bathrooms. Suite is spacious.

The building is old school. The restaurant is not 24 hours. No convenience store nearby. No water dispenser available.

It was perfect. Had the right amenities that we need and was very cozy and relaxing. The staff was wonderful and answered any questions we had and were very pleasant

Didn't have air conditioning but you really didn't need it that much and they do provide a box fan.

Location was convenient for our area we were visiting, property was clean, had a restaurant on property . staff were friendly and it was very clean.

No breakfast restaurants in our immediate area, had to drive down the mountain. There were restaurants there but they weren’t open for whatever reason, not our property’s fault of course.

room itself was very well kept. Kids loved sleeping upstairs (didn't use fold out couch) great having a restaurant attached in case you feel like driving out.

Wife did not like the road going up. wish they had a washer/dryer set-up in room for convenance.

The location was excellent with the mountain views. Seeing the wildlife was awesome. The deer were curious and cautious but not alarmed by our presence. The room comfortable and spacious. The Murphy bed was an interesting surprise, but quite comfortable. The drive there was gorgeous as well as a fun experience.
