The hotel's location is excellent. It's close to the metro station and has numerous eating and entertainment options nearby. The hotel itself was clean and comfortable, although a little bit dated. The staff were all very helpful and welcoming, and able to speak English (although we communicated in Mandarin).

An air purifier was provided in the room, which helped with the very slight smell of cigarette smoke that came out from the central air conditioner. The temperature in our room was hard to adjust and it always felt quite cold.

For the first timer visiting Shanghai with limited time, Renaissance Shanghai Yuan Garden Hotel is “the perfect” choice. The main factors are “location”, “value”, and “amenities and services”. The hotel is right next to traditional shopping areas, Yu Garden, and few other touristy areas. It is also a walking distance to the Huang Pu River area. Although the timing was not right, December was quite cold and windy. But we really enjoyed the walk.

The property is very convenient to some popular touristy areas. Yu Garden is a must visit. The Shanghai old city street is also recommended. There are many street vendors and shopping areas that offer souvenirs with reasonable prices. In addition to the hotel restaurants, there are plenty of restaurants (big or small) around the hotel for you the choose from. The hotel breakfast was excellent! If you want to upgrade your stay, book a hotel room with the “river view” that would take your breath away!

The view was as promised. Large room and big bed. Location is very good, in front of the subway exit that connects to airports and other subway lines and train stations. Access to the rooftop bar is via a stairway only, with fantastics views. Late checkout and afternoon tea are lovely details.

The hotel and facilites need an update and some details need to be fixed. Be aware that the staff is not fluent in english, though they try to be helpful.

The location of the hotel was near to amenities such as the Yu Garden shopping and food. The fact that the subway station is less that 5 - 6 minutes from the hotel is a plus. It is central and we stayed there for 6 nights to explore Shanghai and surrounds.

Perhaps the pillow in the room was a little soft. We requested for a harder pillow and was given the one filled with beans. The grocery shop is about 10- 12 minutes walk from the hotel if you would like to get some milk or snacks. Nothing much that I didn't like. It has all the amenities that you would expect for an above average hotel.

They allowed early check in, which was as very great after 14 hours flight. The room was clean, we had perfect view to city. Location is good. Metro station in front of hotel, old city 2 minutes walking. We forgot wallet in lobby with all money, in the morning received it with all belongings. Also beautiful view and tasty restaurant on roof 22-23 floor.

Roof Restaurant is 3rd party. Cannot add bill to the room. And closes at 12 evening on weekdays.

Beautiful generously sized room, nice bathroom, great breakfast buffet, good room service menu, convenient location directly by a metro station and walking distance to Yu Garden and the Ashe shopping area. Friendly staff at reception.

The family next door had 2 noisy screaming children (and a screaming at the children mother) - I got the impression sound insulation was not the best, but then again I did not hear any street noise or other noise, so maybe those guests were just extremely noisy

We enojyed our stay. The demolition of the site next door had finished but construction had not started as of 18 Dec 2023. So did not have any issues with Noise. The new restaurant on the top floor is worth checking out, and if it was summer the roof garden would be amazing at night time. The Metro is right outside the hotel so getting to places is very easy. The Yuan Shopping Mart and Yu garden is only one block away so very easy to walk to.

We could not turn down the heating on the the air-conditioning but we also did not ask for help. The chinese beer at the restaurant was very expensive even for a hotel. It was also not clear that the services on the 17th floor were not available to all guests.

Location is hard to beat directly next to a Line 10 Metro Station, extremely comfortable to get around Shanghai that way. Hotel itself is nice, breakfast was great and view from the rooftop bar (not operated by the hotel itself) was fantastic.

Price-value ratio can be discussed here and was a bit unlucky with the room view looking over the construction site on the south instead of the skyline. Wifi was ok but struggled more with the VPN than in the other (cheaper) hotels I visited this time in China.

Very nice hotel in a very good location (close to Yu Garden and the mall of Old Town, with lines 10 and 14 of the subway at few meters), wide and clean room with view of the river and financial district (we had the suite with lounge access), very good breakfast with a lot of choices for both western and Chinese options (with allergens indications), nice and kind staff
