The breakfast is very good and the location perfect for Guests who like to walk. The Dashijie Line 8 Exit 1 Metro station is approximately 5 long blocks down the street from the hotel. The Yuyuen Garden Line 10 is a bit further approximately 12 minutes walk. The Bund and People’s Square are also within a 20 minute walk. The rooms are very basic yet comfortable. Rooms overlooking the small park across the street from the hotel are better than the rooms that face a dirty unattractive high raise building wall that echoes noise day and night.

The Front Desk Staff speak Shanghainese (mandarin dialect). They do not speak English and display frustration even when a translator app is used to ask questions. Housekeeping is very good. The rooms are cleaned daily and supplied with fresh towels and bottled water.

Location was great - walking distance to the subway and The Bund area. The park in front of the hotel was lovely and quite a treat when we looked out. Breakfast was fair and supper a surprise. The lobby area provided a convenient space to hangout. We were able to get coffee from the coffee maker. Room and bathroom were clean and has sufficient space.

While most staff at the reception were helpful, there was a particular lady who was unsmiling and unfriendly. Another younger lady also curt. The hotel can be more specific about the station nearest to the hotel. Instead of Great World (direct English translation), it would be more helpful to use the exact name shown in the subway - ie. Dashijie. Took us a while to figure out.

I like the location since it is just a walking distance from The Bund and Yuyuan Garden. The breakfast is good as well.

Big construction works started in February 2024 (and for at least a few months) in the block accross the hotel, from 6am till late night. Not the fault of the hotel but the noise caused short night sleep.

Altogether a very pleasant stay at this hotel.. A 10 minute walk to "The Bund" where all the city sights are located... transport services are relatively cheap compared to the UK, for example, a bus trip form one part of the city to another cost 1 yen (approx 12p) and a taxi covering the same distance is about £5.00p.. all over Shanghai there are countless restaurants, cafe's, gift shops etc.. you will be spoilt for choice at a reasonable price.. It is very advisable to have cash at your disposal as many places do not accept foreign cards, only the very larger outlets, like hotels, airports, train stations, tours etc.. although ATM's are available in the area but some do not have an English transaction wording on the machine.. The hotel itself is ideally placed with very good amenities within the building including a very good breakfast choice with free tea and coffee throughout the day.. the bedroom was a good size and each day bottled water, tea / coffee sachets and biscuits were provided.. very comfortable bed and a good view from the window.. staff were also pleasant and helpful...all in all, very clean

Very poor internet and WiFi connection.. the use of VPN is a must otherwise no connection.. Internet facilities like Facebook, WhatsApp and other services are widely unavailable in Shanghai China, but can be connected by other ways.

Location is just about on the money. Great little bar on the corner. There are plenty of food options close by. The snide market is close if that's your thing. Staff were excellent. The hotel is a 250 CYN taxi ride from the airport 24/01/2025. All in all, l would be surprised if there were a better deal out there.

Everything was very good value & well presented apart from the "English breakfast" (there are local options) which was cold. I was actually looking to see if there was a microwave to heat it up!

Clean, tidy, helpful staff. We found the location was good as is within walking distance between Central City, The Bund and the Old town. Breakfast was good - a mixture of western and Chinese food and a good price.

We were disappointed to find the restaurant/bar was not open for dinner/drinks. Most nights we walked anywhere between 10-30mins for restaurants. There is both a bar and a small supermarket same road, within minutes walk. The AliPay function for the washer/dryer caused some frustration as we discovered it wouldn't accept our non-Chinese credit cards. On the second day, an employee offered to pay and we paid them back.

Cute hotel with close distance to the Bund, Nanjing walking street and YuYuan gardens plus close distance to the metro. The rooms were basic but spacious and comfortable. Breakfast had a decent variety of both Asian & Western choices. We had a small issue in one of the rooms and the staff were very quick to respond and fix it.

You cannot find the hotel in the DiDi taxi app and had to be dropped off at the bar on the corner. Staff speak limited English BUT are very helpful and patient, quick to use a translation app to help with communication (so not really a problem). Unfortunately they have knocked down most of the charming neighbourhood that used to be near this hotel but the location is still good.

Great location. Not even 10min from Yu Garden metro station. Located very well to cater a lot of popular spots by foot, such as Shanghai Old Street, but also Nanjing Road and Waitan for Views on the Bund. I have to emphasize my due respect for the customer service of the reception staff. On my arrival they couldn't use my credit card (which can be the case in China). Also my Alipay did not work with that amount. They insisted on me already getting in my designated room without proof of payment etc, and then being able to get cash on my own terms. It all worked out well in the end, thanks to the patience and kindness of the staff. Large rooms. Super comfortable bed.

Not that it is any of the hotels fault. But be aware that there is a huge construction side nearby. Which can become quite noisy. On my first full day as well as the 2nd morning, there was a strong smell of cigarette smoke in my room. Though I am not aware of the reason (nor does it interest me), but yet again the staff worked it out. And when I came back to the hotel on the evening of my 2nd full day it was sorted. Hallway quite keen eared. So if you're unlucky with fellow hotel guests this can also be quite noisy.
